Our home is a three bedroom, Victorian Terraced house in Bristol in the south west of England. We believe it was originally a Miners cottage. It is a family home and perfectly equipped for young children.
Bristol City centre is around a 30 minute bus journey or 20 minute drive. Alternatively a 1 hour walk for any keen walkers (lovely way to see the city). The historic city of Bath is only a 20 minute drive and buses are also available to get there. We are perfectly situated between the two city centres. South Wales is on our doorstep and we really recommend heading over the Severn bridge for a day trip or two. Its around a 1 hour drive to Cardiff or 50 minutes on the train from Bristol city centre.
Bristol is a wonderful city steeped in culture and history. It is located about 120 miles (190 km) west of London at the confluence of the Rivers Avon and Frome. London is easily accessed via motorway, train or coach. Just west of the city, the Avon flows into the estuary of the River Severn.
Key attractions in Bristol include:
Harbour side:
One of our favourite spots to hang out especially on a sunny day, Harbour side features numerous independent and chain cafes and bars. Harbour side is easily accessed via a short walk from the city centre.
Millennium Square:
Just next to Habour side is Millennium Square. Built to celebrate the millennium, numerous water fountains and features are fantastic for children to play in on a warm day. It also features the “We The Curious” science museum and its distinctive mirror globe planetarium.
SS Great Britain:
The famous SS Great Britain was designed and built by Bristol’s Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Famous for being a ground breaking design It had distinguished career spanning nearly 100years serving as everything from a luxury liner to a coal barge. Painstakingly restored it is now an interactive museum allowing you to explore the ship and even “go under water” and see the carefully preserved iron hull
M-shed
The M-shed is free admission Museum of local history opposite Harbour Side. It features some interesting interactive exhibits and runs a steam train up and down the harbour for a small fee.
Aerospace Bristol (Home of Concorde BOA-F)
Located in Filton on the outskirts of Bristol, this new museum is situated on the former Filton airfield
Brunei’s SS Great Britain which makes a wonderful day out for all ages, Bristol aquarium and We the Curious science museum (both of which are on the harbour so wonderfully situated), the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge (it really is as beautiful as the photos) situated in Clifton village which is a beautiful place for a day trip. Also Bristol museum and art gallery (free entry and good for all ages), Blaise Castle Estate and gardens with wonderful playpark and woods to explore. I could go on! Bristol really is a wonderful city.
As you can see there's plenty to do in the city, however, if you would like to explore places nearby there is also ample choice. Take a hike in the Mendip Hills or discover Glastonbury; home to one of the largest music festivals in the world. South of the city, Somerset plays host to a wide range of attractions, including Cheddar Gorge, Chew Valley, the Wookey Hole caves and the medieval city of Wells. The Mendip Hills are a recognised Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. To the north-east, the Cotswolds offer breathtaking rural landscapes, and nearby towns like Gloucester and Cheltenham are well worth a visit.
The Forest of Dean is also on your doorstep; chase adventure through the tree-tops at Go Ape and admire nature at its finest in one of England’s ancient forests. Hike through waterfalls in the Brecon Beacons.
It’s an easy trip to see the seaside and discover local beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Brean Down and Sand Bay. South Wales is also home to a gorgeous coastline and can be accessed with a short car or train journey.
Der Raum
On the ground floor there is a lounge, a dining room, kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms and finally on the second floor we have a double attic room.
Our bedroom is a big master room with king size bed. The second double room is our sons bedroom with a double bed (this room is magic - it's been decorated like a jungle and comes with its own under stair tree house!) The attic room also has a double bed. Our home doesn't have designated parking however there is ample parking outside the front and it's never been an issue for us.
We have a lovely garden perfect for children and adults alike. Equipped with pirate sandpit and ride on tractors and dumper truck! Outdoor furniture on the patio with outdoor pizza oven made by dad. We have lovely neighbours both sides of us who we have close relationships with. They will be very welcoming to any guests who stay in our home.
Our home is a work in progress. We are slowly making our way through the home decorating and making general amendments. We have only lived here three years and fitting in home improvements with our two tiny ones is tough. However we can guarantee it will be clean and tidy just maybe with a few walls that need a touch up :)
Gastzugang
Our home has three floors with the bedrooms on the first and second floors. We only have one bathroom and this is on the ground floor. It's worth noting that it's a Victorian house that is quite narrow in places so a consideration for people with physical disabilities. We have stair gates on the stairs to protect little ones. Cyclists are very welcome. The Bristol and surrounding area is exceptional for cyclists. People are welcome to bring bikes and carefully bring them through the house and store them in the back garden which is secure due to only being accessible from the house.

Nachbarschaft
We live in a suburb of Bristol called Kingswood and on the border of Hanham. Kingswood has a small high street and a lovely park. We are a five minute walk from a Lidl supermarket and the bus stop from which you can easily access the rest of the city. Avon Valley adventure Park is only a 10 minute drive and a brilliant day out for the family. There is a lovely cafe that serves Thai and English food a 5 minute walk from our home which we love.
Zu mir nach Hause kommen
Bristol Airport is around a 30 minute drive from our home (traffic and time of day dependant). You can travel from the airport either by bus or taxi. By bus would require two buses (one to Bristol City centre and another to Kingswood where we live). We are a 20 minute drive from Bristol Temple meads train station. This journey could be done by taxi or bus with regular buses going from the train station to Kingswood.
Nächstliegender Flughafen
Bristol Airport is a 30 minute drive away.
Rumkommen
Local shops are only a five minute walk from our home. These include Lidl, Sainsbury's, Wilkos, coffee shops and other high street shops such as New Look and Iceland. Bristol City centre is easily accessed via bus or driving in less than half an hour.

Jade
Hello from our lovely family. Mum Jade, dad Rob and our two wonderful boys Elijah two years and Marley one year. There is also my step daughter Hollie who is 13 who lives with us part time. She may or may not come along when we do exchanges depending on school and other commitments. Rob and I both work in the public sector. Rob is a nurse by trade but currently working in a management role for the NHS and I am a probation officer. Robs family are from Norfolk and we often visit them. We also love camping so are open to non sim / globe opportunities :)
We live in Bristol in the UK and love our city and home. We are keen to travel and see new places with our boys and hope this will offer us that opportunity. We also look forward to offering our home to families wanting to explore lovely Bristol. We love to meet new people and learn about other people's ways of life and cultures. Kindness and making memories is at the heart of our family.
