We have three separate homes on our 1.6 acre property, right on the Macal River. The two guest bungalows are available for exchange.
We can exchange both bungalows or just one at a time. This listing (#10481) is for both bungalows. Listing#10676 is for the Belize Bungalow (sleeps 4) and Listing #10532 is for the Banana Bungalow (sleeps 2).
Please note that only the Belize Bungalow has A/C. The Banana bungalow is located and built in such a way that A/C isn't needed. It's been an AirBnB rental for 5 years, and we've only had 2 or 3 comments about needing A/C (We are SuperHosts with hundreds of guests).
Our busiest season is Mid-Dec through February, so usually those dates would not be available for an exchange.
And if we aren't doing a simultaneous exchange, we will most likely be on the property staying in our own home.
We have a lot of flexibility!

The Banana Bungalow:
Our Banana Bungalow is a stand-alone building that sleeps 2 and overlooks the river. It is made of local hardwoods and local pine from Mountain Pine Ridge (We built it ourselves).
The bungalow interior is fully screened. There is a custom-made mahogany king bed and hardwood nightstands.
The covered, open deck overlooks the property with a peek at the Macal River and hills beyond.
The Banana Bungalow has a spacious private covered deck, with a hammock, dining table/2 chairs and extra loveseat for two. There is also a private stone courtyard area.
The Belize Bungalow:
Our Belize Bungalow is Air-conditioned and sleeps 4 comfortably. It is a stand-alone building. It was our home for over 5 years, before we built our current home closer to the river. The Belize Bungalow is roomy and functional, but not fancy :-)
There is a custom-made mahogany queen bed, and two twin-size sofa beds.
The very large, covered/screened deck overlooks the property with extra seating and private dining area, and includes 4 hammocks, and additional seating - with room to spare! The Belize Bungalow does not have a view of the river, but does have a nice jungle-yard view.
Shared Spaces:
There is a separate outdoor kitchen/dining area for the use of our guests. The kitchen is attached to the Belize Bungalow and is a shared area with guests that book the Banana Bungalow. It is not inside the cabin - as just boiling water would heat the entire room! The outdoor kitchen is two steps down from the screened deck.
We also have a dedicated laundry area, also shared with the other bungalow.
Gastzugang
Three steps up to access the Belize Bungalow. And a step-in access to the Banana Bungalow shower. Other than that, there are no steps on the property. However, due to the gravel driveway and walkway, the property is not wheelchair-friendly.
Anmerkungen
There are birds everywhere & of every kind! Toucans and parrots are daily visitors. We had a birdwatcher recently identify over 60 bird species in a three week period!
We have dozens of fruit trees on the property, from coconuts & bananas, to avocados and mangoes - and nearly everything in between!
Wildlife includes iguanas, agoutis, kinkajous and much, much more!

Nachbarschaft
Cristo Rey Village is nestled in a lush jungle between San Ignacio and the Mountain Pine Ridge are of the Cayo District. Additionally, Cristo Rey was settled by the Mayan and much of that cultural influence still exists.
There are local eateries & grocers within walking distance.
Cristo Rey boasts a population of approximately 700 mostly ‘Mestizo’ (Mexican + Mayan heritage) residents. While English is the official language, the villagers grow up speaking Spanish and start learning English formally in school about the age of four. And you may also hear Kriol and Mayan spoken in the village.

Cheryl & Jeff
We both grew up camping and love nature with all it has to offer. In 2014 we moved to the ‘wilds’ of Belize from the ‘wilds’ of Minnesota.
We love animals and would welcome the opportunity to care for pets/animals during an exchange. We currently have two dogs, and only if an exchange is simultaneous we would need our dogs cared for (no need for walks, as they roam the 1.6 acre property). Just really need to have a love of dogs.....
