General overview

We live in a 4 bedroom traditional victorian era family home, walking distance to the historic centre of Bath. The city known for its Georgian architecture, with Royal Crescent, Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths, all reached within 30 minutes walk or a 10 minute bus ride. Royal Victoria park is a 15 minute walk away, which has botanical gardens and an excellent children's playground. The cities of Bristol and London are near enough for a day trip by train. There are many places to visit in under an hours drive such as famous Stonehenge, Cheddar gorge and many national trust properties with lovely gardens such as Dyrham park, Stourhead, Lacock and Tyntesfield. There is easy access to beautiful surrounding countryside for those who enjoy the great outdoors.

The space

We have 3 large bedrooms, 2 of which have king size beds. Another large bedroom is suitable for children and we use our fourth bedroom as an office. Downstairs has a large living room and children's playroom, as well as a completely redesigned kitchen/diner. Extensive renovations have been ongoing since we moved in 2019, and are now complete. We have a back garden with two large fig trees and outside dining area for the warmer months.

Guest access

2 floors with staircase between them. One small step up to the house which we manage with a pushchair.

Notes

Fans of Jane Austen will have read about Bath in Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, and can visit a museum about the author. Bath is featured regularly as a setting for period dramas, most recently the Netflix hit series Bridgerton.

Neighbourhood

Ours is a fairly quiet, friendly residential area on the west side of the city of Bath. It is a 2 minute walk to some great local shops including small supermarket, bakery and several nice cafes. The river avon is close by and offers nice walks and cycling into and around the city. Fans of hiking will enjoy the Cotswold way, which is a 100 mile long trail linking Bath to the Cotswolds. There are many family-friendly walks nearby for little legs.

Getting to my home

There is a direct bus to and from Bristol Airport which takes under an hour. London airports can also be reached by public transport or a drive of under 2 hours.

Nearest airport

Bristol around 45 mins. Most London airports are accessible by car in under 2 hours or by train.

Getting around

There is a regular and reliable bus service into Bath centre. Bristol and its airport are also served by a good bus service. Bath train station is a 10 minute bus ride away and offers a 1 hour train ride into London and other surrounding cities.

Sarah

We are a family of four with two young boys. I work part-time as a secondary Maths teacher and Steve is a building surveyor who works mostly from home. We are both English but lived in Asia for 6 years before moving back in 2019. We love to travel, getting to know the places locals see. We would like to start introducing our children to the joys of travelling and experiencing different cultures. We absolutely love home exchanging and joining PLU in 2021 has genuinely changed our lives and how we view travelling with young children. We are always excited for the next one!
