General overview

Our home is a modern home in an inner city suburb of Newcastle. Newcastle is Australia's second oldest city and has a rich industrial heritage which is now transforming into a future focused city wth a goal to be smart, innovative and, globally, a player. There is public transport within easy walking distance including the electric train link to Sydney. Newcastle airport now has direct flights to Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ballina/Byron Bay, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Adelaide along with newly introduced flights direct to Auckland NZ. An innovative wire-less tram will commence operation in the inner city in early 2019. Once you've enjoyed the parks and cycleway nearby, rolling down to Newcastle harbour, there are plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance giving you plenty of options for relaxing at the end of the day. And, if preferred, enjoy the decks and outlooks from our home, where you can watch the day fade into night. To help you relax at the end of the day or to get moving ready to go out you can access our Spotify subscription giving you access to an enormous volume of music which you can listen to on our Sonos wireless sound system which has speakers throughout the house. If you'd prefer, you can also stream music to the Sonos system from your own device. You will also have access to a TV in each living area, both with Apple TV connected and Chromecast available in the main living area. Day trips are very easy to the famous Hunter Valley wineries and to Port Stephens and its allure of blue water, white sand and whale watching. Our city of Newcastle is a city in transition from a former heavy industrial city to a smart and innovative future focused city. It was rated by the Lonely Planet as one of the top ten places to visit in the world and is well connected with direct train and air links to Sydney as well as direct flights to Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Byron Bay. You'll find that it's a foodie's delight and that it has some of the best coffee cafes in the world, along with excellent bars: ranging from secluded speakeasy styles to micro breweries and harbour side establishments where great views abound. You can ride a bicycle from our home along a cycleway past all the harbourside venues right to the tip of the main breakwater at the mouth of Newcastle harbour where massive bulk carriers arrive empty and leave wallowing full of coal into the sea. Newcastle has so much to offer and also leaves you within easy reach of Sydney and other major destinations. Why not add it to your preferred list or simply make the most of this exchange option to come on down!
