General overview

The Wine Country Hideaway is a self-contained studio apartment attached to our primary residence. It is located in the Russian River Valley AVA, on the outskirts of Santa Rosa, in the heart of Sonoma Wine Country.

The space

A cozy studio apartment with full kitchen and bath, and all the modern amenities. We have great high-speed Wi-Fi, cable TV, and even a CD collection for your use. We offer a private raised deck with table, chairs, and a BBQ. It affords views of the creek and trees to the front, and the 150 acre meadow to the back. The apartment, although attached to our primary residence, has its own entrance, and is completely private from our home.

Guest access

The Hideaway is a second floor apartment, up a flight of stairs. It is not appropriate for access-challenged individuals.

Notes

If you are looking for a larger home, please check our our other listing, #1566, Bella Vista. It is a large, modern ocean-front home on the Sonoma Coast. If you are a cyclist, we offer separate, enclosed, lockable bike storage. If we are doing a non-simultaneous exchange, or using Globes, we will be happy to visit with you and give you recommendations. We will also give you as much privacy as you wish. On a simultaneous exchange, we will communicate with you in advance to make sure you have all the information you need.

Neighbourhood

The Wine Country Hideaway is in Countryside, a gated community of upscale single family homes on large lots, many lots exceeding an acre. It is level, with minimal traffic. The neighborhood has acres of common area that you may walk in.

Getting around

We are 4 miles from downtown Santa Rosa, and 4 miles from downtown Sebastopol. For any activities, like wine tasting, visiting the coast, etc. an automobile is recommended. Uber and Lyft are easy to access from our neighborhood. The City Bus stops about 5 blocks from us. The SMART train, in downtown Santa Rosa, will take you to the Larkspur Ferry, which can take you to downtown San Francisco. Sonoma County Airport (STS) currently features connections to Seattle, Portland, Minneapolis (seasonal), Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, and Las Vegas (seasonal.) The airport is a 15 minute ride from the Hideaway.

We are a semi-retired couple who have been exchanging homes for two decades. We love jazz music, walking, and dining. We tend to prefer urban locations where we can walk or take public transportation to restaurants and musical venues or waterfront locations in scenic areas. We're usually not interested in suburban locations.
