Neighbourhood

Our home has the best of both worlds with London on our doorstep (25 mins by train into Waterloo), but being in peaceful Walton-on-Thames with scenic riverside walks, cozy pubs and great access to historic sites and nearby towns/regions. You can walk along the river to Weybridge or all the way to Hampton Court Palace, and there are cycle paths too. Nearby you can visit the historic island of D’Oyly Carte, the outdoor Hampton pool, stroll along the river and take a ferry to Shepperton, visit Kew Gardens, Great Windsor Park, Bushy Park to see all the deer, and tons of other green spaces and National Trust properties. Thorpe Park, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland are all nearby if you are theme park lovers. Apart from London, some potential places of interest nearby and accessible either by car or train in under 2 hours: Hampton Court Palace (30 mins), Windsor Castle (45 mins), Guildford, Winchester, Oxford, Marlow, Tring. Richmond is also nearby (easier by car/Uber). If you have a car, its easy to explore surrounding areas like the Cotswolds and Oxford.

Nearest airport

London Heathrow is closest, but Gatwick, Luton and Stansted are all options.

Getting Around

We are 8-10 mins walk to Walton-on-Thames station, which takes you to London Waterloo in 25 mins. Note that there are some slow trains, so make sure you check timetables for the fast trains which are every 30 mins. If you want to explore the surrounding areas, a car will be handy, but there are loads of options via train as well.
