Neighbourhood

Park Slope has loads of stores, bars, cafes, restaurants, supermarkets, nail salons.... everything. Subway is one block away. Prospect Park speaks for itself. In winter the Lefrak ice-rink is 15 mins walk from our place. In summer the ice rink becomes a splash pad and roller rink. Smorgasburg is a food truck festival which takes place every Sunday in the warmer months (10 mins walk from us). BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn concerts are across the road from us as well - and many are free! Its 45 mins door to door to Bryant Park/Rockefeller, and much closer to the LES, FiDI and Downtown. 20-30 mins to DUMBO/Brooklyn Bridge Park (great restaurants, bars, and a place to start/end your Brooklyn Bridge walk). Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill are 10 mins away. NYC is about so much more than just the city itself! Take the MTA train upstate from Grand Central and visit Cold Spring, Bear Mountain and the Hudson Valley. I highly recommend a visit to the Catskills for a weekend if you are able to. Alternatively, take the LIRR from Atlantic Terminal (10 mins from us) and be at Long Beach, LI in only 10 stops. Or venture further down to the Hamptons. You can get the A train to Far Rockaway beach, or take the ferry there from Sunset Park. Or, get the ferry to Governors Island for a great day trip - bikes are the best mode of transport on the island. Access to New Jersey and Connecticut is super easy as well. In summer, take the Sea Streak ferry from Manhattan to Sandy Hook, NJ or to Nantucket/Martha's Vineyard for the weekend. The possibilities are endless!

Nearest airport

JFK or LGA are closest. EWR (Newark) is also an option.

Getting around

Walking distance to everything. Subway is one block (F/G train). Parking is free around here but as you can imagine, is not very easy to find a spot. If you have (lots of) patience and don't mind walking a few blocks, you will be fine. Note: parking has become even harder since COVID in 2020, as there are more cars and less spots due to outdoor dining. If you can avoid having a car while here, it will be much easier for you.
