General overview

Spacious, comfortable and family friendly. Well appointed kitchen & laundry. Fully fenced with a trampoline and climbing bars. In a safe neighbourhood, and walking distance into our friendly town. Lots of hikes, walks, lakes, rivers and beaches within easy driving distance.

The space

Living space is large and comfortable. You’re welcome to sleep additional people on the sofa as well as the three bedrooms. One bedroom has a California king bed. The spare room/office has a queen bed. Then there is a loft bed (single) in our daughter's room. The house is one level, elevated overlooking a quiet residential street. The yard is fenced for kids and pets. We have a sunny front deck for dining outside, and a covered back deck for lounging with more privacy.

Guest access

Single level house, there is 4 small steps at the front entrance, and one step at the rear entrance. Come and go through the front door with a code, no key needed.

Notes

Adding in another option to tack on to your New Zealand holiday. We have a caravan (sleeps 4, 2 adults and 2 children) self contained (toilet, no shower), with an awning and all the necessary camping gear. As part of us hosting you I’d be happy to deliver this and set up for you in a location of your choosing (anywhere from Auckland, Tauranga, Coromandel, Raglan, Port Waikato, Taupo, National Park, etc) get in touch and we can discuss it more.

Neighbourhood

Lovely cafes, nature walks in native NZ bush, around lakes and alongside rivers. Te Awamutu is a rural, farming town, with lots of shops and amenities. I’d recommend you hire a car (perhaps ours, please enquire), and within 30mins - 1 hr you have the following attractions: Hamilton Gardens, Hamilton Zoo, Hobbitton, Waitomo Caves, Raglan Beach, Otorohanga Kiwi House, Mt Pirongia, Sanctuary Mountain, Waikato River Trails. Slightly further afeild but still within a day trip is Taupo, Rotorua, Tauranga / Mt Manganui. Including attractions like farm parks, luge, geothermal sightseeing, beaches, lakes and cycling trails.

Getting to my home

I would recommend flying into Auckland airport (2hrs away) and having us come and collect you if we’re hosting you, or hiring a car and driving yourselves if we’re having a simultaneous swap. You could fly into Hamilton airport which is closer (only 10-15min away) but smaller and may cost more to fly direct.

Nearest airport

Hamilton Airport is about 10-15 mins drive. Auckland airport is about 2hrs drive away.

Getting around

Walking distance to town shops, cafes, supermarket (about 15mins walking, mostly flat). But I recommend a vehicle for comfort and travelling a bit further. We have bikes you can borrow. Inflatable kayaks. Camp chairs, sunshade/portable BBQ you can use for beach days. Hiking packs, sleeping bags, cooker you can borrow for overnight hut tramping nearby.
