General overview

Grade II listed house, located two minutes from the heart of Hebden Bridge, west Yorkshire.

The space

Our Grade II listed house is located two minutes from the heart of Hebden Bridge, a stunning and historic market town in West Yorkshire. The house, dating from the early 19th century, sleeps up to eight in three double bedrooms (one ensuite) and has views across the heavily wooded Calder valley, with the river at the bottom of the garden and the canal a stone's throw beyond that. The house is typical of a style unique to the area, with rooms across five floors and a small, colourful back garden. We have TV, DVD, an Xbox, high speed internet, central heating and a wood burning stove in the living room. For those that wish to work out, we also have a treadmill, rowing machine and some weights. We have two children who are happy to share their toys and a great selection of board games and books.

Guest access

There are five floors, so lots of stairs, with access at the front and back. There is a key safe at the front and the back can be easily accessed by a ginnel.

Notes

Children under 3 need to be confident with stairs. Not suitable for crawling babies. We have a very friendly cat that we'd like you to feed and cuddle but my neighbours are always willing to take over cat care if you wanted to explore further afield and needed to stay away from the house for a longer period.

Neighbourhood

Hebden Bridge is a thriving town, with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants, an excellent independent cinema showing everything from children's blockbusters to foreign arthouse movies, and a music venue recently voted one of the best for its size in the country. One magazine called Hebden the 'fourth funkiest town in the world' and there is no doubt that the town punches above its weight in terms of things to do. There are also markets four times a week and a regular farmer's market too. But it's the local area that makes the town extra special. It is set in a wooded river valley and stunning walks begin five minutes from the town centre. The area is also a magnet for cyclists (the Tour de France came through Hebden Bridge a couple of years ago), mountain bikers and fell runners. Howarth, hometown of the Bronte sisters, is a 15 minute drive away. You can take the train from Hebden direct to buzzing Manchester and Leeds (35 and 50 minutes) and historic York (90 minutes).

Getting around

We are two minutes from the town centre and the nearest shop, a Co-Op, is less than a minute's walk. Everything is within very easy walking distance and there are plenty of bus stops for venturing further afield and the train station is about 10 mins walk.
