General overview

This house is our primary residence and is in a quiet semi-rural part of the Gold Coast. Our plan is to spend the next few years travelling the world, utilising home exchanges. We are ideally placed for a great extended holiday in Australia and look forward to hearing from you!!!

The space

Air conditioned throughout to help you through the heat. Reverse cycle so lovely and warm in winter too. Comfortable open-plan layout. We are updating photographs regularly. There are three bedrooms (the main has an en-suite). Two bedrooms have queen-size beds and the third has double bunks. The third bedroom also doubles as a workspace with a desk. There is a family bathroom that serves two of the bedrooms. Downstairs the kitchen, dining and lounge areas are in one open-plan space that leads out to the rear deck. There is a 75" tv, PlayStation 5 and all usual (Australian) streaming services. There is another tv in the main bedroom.

Guest access

From front door half flight of stairs down to living and kitchen, and half flight of stairs up to bedrooms.

Notes

Nice deck out the back with leafy neighbourhood views and barbecue. Small but pleasant back garden.

Neighbourhood

Our house may be semi-rural, but it is centrally located on the Gold Coast. Surfers Paradise beach is less than half an hour away by car, with plenty more beaches to choose from travelling south from there. If hiking through rainforest sounds tempting, then the arty community of Mount Tambourine is only 20 minutes away. Even better, the world heritage listed Lamington and Springbrook National Parks are only 50 minutes away. Craving roller coasters, waterslides, wake boarding and outback shows? Dreamworld, Movie World, Wet 'n' Wild, GC Wake Park and Australian Outback Spectacular are less than 12 minutes away. The dolphins at Seaworld are 30 minutes away. The capital of Queensland is Brisbane and is an hour away by car. We are also ideally placed as a handy base for more adventurous excursions with Byron Bay (I'm led to believe that Hemsworths are occasionally sighted!) a 90 minute drive south and Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo two hours to the north on the Sunshine Coast. And for shoppers there are a number of large malls within 15-30 mins drive with great food, movies, restaurants and specialty shops. Local rivers, canals and beaches provide excellent fishing; guests are welcome to use our rods and tackle.

Getting to my home

Car, taxi or uber

Nearest airport

45 minutes uber, taxi or car to Gold Coast International Airport. An hour to Brisbane International Airport.

Getting around

We have a bus stop close to us which takes you to our local railway station. From here, heavy rail services direct to Brisbane are accessible. In addition there is a light rail (tram) station there, which provides direct links to the beaches from Surfers Paradise south to Broadbeach (ideal for surfing teenagers who crave a little independence from time to time! All tram carriages have storage for surfboards - welcome to the Gold Coast. To make the most of the Gold Coast, however, a car is necessary. We would be happy to discuss vehicle exchanges.

Andrew

We are a couple in our mid 60s and we are retired. Pru worked in the film and television industry, while Andrew worked first in arts organisations and then with various government agencies. We love the arts (seeing, hearing and doing), bushwalking, movies, good food, the odd cab sav, road trips, fishing (Andrew), gardening (Pru), with a high priority on having fun. We are looking for short, medium to long term exchanges (the closer to home, the shorter we will consider) anywhere and any time. City or rural, hot or cold, northern hemisphere or southern hemisphere, unit or house - really... surprise us!
