General overview
Non-smoking cosy but spacious family home located in a calm suburb of Arnhem. Only neighbours on one side, garden in the front and in the back. We have lots of nature, sports facilities, swimming water, shops etc within walking distance. We combine hospitality with a warm atmosphere. Friendly for kids, peacefull for adults. Our house in Arnhem is the perfect base to explore the Netherlands. The German border is not too far away and Amsterdam is just about 75 minutes drive away.
The space
Our home is light and airy. As it is a corner house, we can easily walk around the house. Our backyard has sun (south) almost all day long and is maintenance-friendly. If you enter our house through the back door, you enter the kitchen. This is a country style open kitchen. I didn't take pictures of this because I'm in the process of refurbishing the kitchen (almost all equipment has been replaced this year) and this is going at a somewhat slow pace. In the adjoining living room you will find a nice sofa to sit on, a wood stove as a bonus, a smart TV and both a Wii and a PlayStation 5. I like candles and coziness and atmosphere-enhancing stuff. In the living room is a fixed staircase to go upstairs. On the first floor you will find two spacious bedrooms. In my daughter's room there is a single bed with an extra mattress underneath (because of all the friends who come to stay for sleepovers) and in my bedroom there is a large double bed of 180 cm wide. A huge bookcase occupies the entire wall. It also contains English-language books for enthusiasts. There is a tv also. We also have a bathroom with a second toilet and a separate shower and bath. A fourth room is a study / office. There is also a built-in wardrobe where you can find household appliances and more. This is followed by another staircase to the attic. In the attic you will find a washing machine, a dryer and a drying rack. A smaller room was once turned into a playroom (it includes a large dollhouse) where you can also find an extra sink and mirror for those who sleep in the attic. In the attic is another spacious bedroom. This is where my son sleeps. And here too there is an extra mattress under the bed and there is also a third mattress behind the bed against the wall. That is why we offer enough sleeping places for six people. Behind the bulkheads in this room are toys and games. My son has been asking for his own TV in his room for a while, so there will certainly be one in the future.
Guest access
We have two floors. Unfortunately, our house is not suitable for people with disabilities. Our frontdoor and backdoor are easily accessible. The path in the garden has been laid out in such a way that children with bicycles and roller skates can easily cross it. This also gives prams easy access.
Notes
We have received special bins in the garden from our municipality to separate our waste. Plastic, cardboard and garden waste, for example. These bins are emptied at regular intervals and must be placed on the street for this purpose. For all other household waste there are underground containers in our street at a minimum walking distance. These are free to use.

Neighbourhood
Elderveld is a nice residential area in the south of Arnhem, the capital of Gelderland. You might know Arnhem form the movie: "A bridge too far" and other movies. Elderveld is a typical 1970s neighborhood with a few flats, many family homes and spaciously intersected by green areas and waters. Within walking distance of our house is the Elderhof shopping center with supermarkets, bakery, snack bars, hairdressers, pet store and drugstore. There are also some (medical) care facilities, a sports hall and a squash center nearby. There is also a freely accessible Richard Kraaijcheck sports field in the neighbourhoud. Kids can play sports there like basket ball and soccer. We also have a Water Playground; an extensive play and picnic area, connected by several climbing bridges with an island in the adjacent pond. It is real fun for younger children although teenagers also like to hang out there. And because it has a sport area as well, you might see people jogging and work out there. We also have a pancake restaurant and an international restaurant within walking distance. From our house it is about a five minute walk to the dikes along the Rhine and a little further is the nature hiking park Meinerswijk with wild animals and various sights. Elderveld is easily accessible from the Arnhem city center by means of the Arnhem trolleybus network and Arnhem-South train station. It is also easy to drive by car: a perfect base for the highways around us so that the West (like Utrecht and Amsterdam), Germany and the Hanseatic cities in the north are easily accessible. Arnhem has attractions such as trolley buses, Burgers' Zoo, Park Sonsbeek, the John Frost bridge, the Open Air Museum, the Airborne Museum, the interactive Water Museum (very nice for kids!), a Mountainbike Museum, a Wine Museum and of course the river Rhine. We have a Jump Square, swimmingpools, tenniscourts, padel courts, skiing area, walls to climb and a lot more when it comes to sports. The Gelredome Stadium is home to the football club Vitesse, but other events are also regularly organized such as concerts, flea markets and more.The city is densely covered with sights and attractions, cozy restaurants and nice shops. Due to its location on the Rhine and in the rolling landscape, you immediately get a holiday feeling in this city. And as soon as you are outside the city you are in the middle of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. in Gelderland you will experience unique nature in a varied landscape. From the wildlife on the hills of the Veluwe to the blossom in the Betuwe, from the small-scale landscape of the Achterhoek to the vastness of the river landscape and of course the bustling inner cities. There are several castles in the area to visit, each with their own unique experience. There is a climbing forest within driving distance, open water for swimming, including beaches. In fact, there is so much to do in our area for both young and old that it is almost impossible to list everything. If you want to know something specific, feel free to let us know!
Getting to my home
The best way to get to my home is of course by car. You can park in front of my home and for additional cars there are several parkinglots nearby. It is also very easy to get here by public transportation. We have a trainstation in about ten to 15 minutes walking distance in slow pace. (Arnhem-Zuid). In the centre of Arnhem you find Arnhem Central Station. There you can take several buses or even a taxi (I guess about 25 euro) to my home. The trollybus stops are a 5 minute walk from our house and from Arnhem CS it is about ten to 15 minutes by bus to our house in a straight line. If you want to come by airplane, we have several airports you can use. Weeze Airport is located just across the border from Germany. This is a 63 km drive from our house. Here you can rent cars from 12 euros per day. This is not possible with public transport.
From Eindhoven Airport it is 86 km by car. You can get to Arnhem by train from Eindhoven, although we recommend renting a car because of the flexibility.
Dusseldorf airport in Germany is approximately 125 km from Arnhem. From the train station in Dusseldorf there is a direct train connection to Arnhem CS.
Finally, Amsterdam Schiphol is also easy to do. (101 km) From Schiphol there is a direct train connection to Arnhem. (A single ticket now costs about 19.50 euros)

Getting around
We have several shops and restaurants at walking distance. We have 3 bikes for use (I can arrange a 4th if needed), that can bring you a little further. You can also take the trollybus to go into the centre of Arnhem for lots of shops or other ways. And you can take the train as well to go into the city centre or surrounding cities as Nijmegen, Zutphen, Zwolle, 's Hertogenbosch and Utrecht.
