General overview
Our family-friendly home is in a beautiful neighborhood in Potomac, Maryland, close to shopping centers, restaurants, and a large regional park with hiking trails, a wonderful sprawling playground, and a miniature train that runs April-October.
The National Mall, where all the Smithsonian Museums and White House are located, is 30min drive. Or it is 10-12min drive to a metro stop on the red line.
Washington DC has fantastic museums and galleries; even better, most are free. National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of Natural History, National Gallery of Art, National Portrait Gallery, National Archives, National Zoo, Mount Vernon... Then there are the neighborhoods and towns to explore like Georgetown, Alexandria, Navy Yards, etc. There is so much to see and do in DC.
The space
Our 5-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom house was totally renovated last summer, so almost everything is new, including all the bathrooms and the kitchen. The ground floor is an open floor with a kitchen, dining area, family area, kids area, guest bathroom, sunroom, and an attached 2-car garage. The upstairs has 4 rooms and 3 full bathrooms: one bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and a queen bed, another bedroom with an ensuite bathroom with a double sink and two twin beds (this is used as the kids' bedroom), and two other bedrooms that are being used as two offices (one of the office rooms has a futon bed). On the basement level, we have a small bedroom with a queen bed, a bathroom, a mini kitchen, a small office, and a play area. It is a walkout basement, and we have a spacious backyard with a playhouse. We maintain a very clean house. We are non-smokers and do not have pets. Due to allergies, I am afraid that we cannot host pets.

Like much of suburbs in the U.S., you would need a car to get around. Alternatively, you could take Uber to a metro station and take the metro to DC.
Nearest airport
Washington Dulles (30min), Reagan (30min), BWI (45min). But please keep DC traffic in mind.
