General overview

The house is located within a walking distance to Hafnarfjordur town center with cafés and a bus stop and supermarket close by. It is convenient for exploring the southwest and close to the international airport and several sights and activities.

The space

The house has only two apartments. Our apartment (that is ca. 114 square meters) has a cozy retro feeling to it with three bedrooms. A master bedroom with a large double bed, a study with (where is is possible to put a childs crib or foldable bed) and a bunk bed in full size in the kids room. We have a sofabed and a foldable single adults bed available on request. The living room has a flat screen TV, a sofa and dining table for up to 10 people. The kitchen is well equipped with kitchen table and baby equipment, but it does not have a dishwasher. There is a nice back garden with patio, bbq available and garden furniture but we like to spend most of our time there after work/kindergarten. In summer we set up a trampoline there. We have a low maintenance 12 year old cat named Batman who only needs a scratch now and then and a full bowl of food and water. For an exchange for only the two adults or weekend exchange we can offer a one bedroom apartment in the same house that we live in on the ground floor that is perfect for two persons +baby (or third person). The place is bright and cozy, ca. 50 m2/ 500 sq.ft. We have decorated the apartment so that it feels like a true home away from home, bright, warm and cozy. The space has laminated wooden floors, except the small bathroom with shower that is tiled. You will have ample space for relaxation and planning your holidays, and a convenient drive to and from the airport. There is 40" tv with a selection of tv stations and the wifi is strong. The patio and the side garden are nice play areas for kids, and we have some toys for our smaller visitors. View to the garden from all windows. The apartment has a private entrance and a patio with garden furniture. The whole apartment consisting of hallway, living room, kitchen, a small bathroom and bedroom are private for you. If you need to do laundry access to a washing machine is available upon request and there are drying lines in the garden.

Guest access

The apartment is on the second floor.

Neighbourhood

Our home is located in Hafnarfjordur town, a town known in Iceland for its beautiful natural harbor and the fact that it is located in a lava field. The area was built up in the late fifties and it is close to the town center, only 5 minutes walk, there are excellent communications with Reykjavik, as the bus stations are just around the corner, and so is the supermarket, open daily from 11-21. The three swimming pools of Hafnarfjordur are at a 5 to 10 minutes drive distance, and they are a true oasis, with slides, Jacuzzis and inside and outside pools. We also love the Hellisgerði local public park, which displays the lava landscape and trees and nice spots for picnics and an adventurous play area for the children. A public library, cafés and restaurants are a walking distance away and so are the downtown shops and Hafnarborg arts center and the promenade along the sea.

Getting around

We are within walking distance from the central of Hafnarfjordur and supermarkets. Bus station around the corner but most people choose to travel atound by car.
