We've just had the most amazing weekend get away to Sara and familys home in Växsjö. I reached out to Sara this Summer as I was looking for an exchange home within a short driving distance that was also pet friendly. To my great joy, Sara responded positively about an exchange and we finalized it pretty fast. Unfortunately I could only stay a weekend due to lack of vacation, whereas is was school holiday in Sweden the week following the weekend Casper and I would go. So we agreed that they could stay for a week if they wanted to. We left early Friday after work and drove to Växsjö and arrived just in time to meet and greet Sara, Pär, Siri and Hjalmer before they set course for FRederiksværk :-) Saras home is very spacious and super cosy and we felt right at home. They has also left us a yummy welcome pressie, which was so kind of them. We enjoyed so much our weekend in their home and area. They live around the corner from a nature area, where we both enjoyed walking the dogs as well as went for a run. They are close the the Teleborg Park area, which was absolutely stunning all dressed in Foliage colours. We went by Teleborg Castle, which truly looked like a fairy tale castle (a hotel now). We also went shopping nearby and found some good deals as the Swedish krone is lower than the Danish atm. In the afternoon we walked the dogs along the water into the city to have a look around. Sunday we went for a run in the Bokhult Woods behind the house and then drove to Kronoberg Castle ruin and walked around Hissingö, whcih is right next to the ruin. We timed it perfectly s it started to rain when we got back to the car. But lovely both by the ruin as well as walking along the path by the water, again enjoying the scenery with the stunning Fall colours, even with grey weather. So nice to come back to the house, enjoy a late lunch before packing up, cleaning and returning to Denmark. We would have LOVED to stay longer as we enjoyed ourselves so much and there were many more things we would have liked to see and do. But hopefully we'll get the opportunity to come back again.... Sara was a delight to communicate with and we kept in touch during the exchanges, updating eachother on what we'd been up to and such. Coming home to a very tidy and clean house and my pets very well taken care of was an extra treat. So guys, do yourself a favour and exchange with Sara and family - you wont regret it!!!

I was looking for a weekend get away that was pet friendly as I was hoping to bring my two senior doggies with me. I reached out to Ingrid and to my great joy, she replied with a yes to do an exchange. We quickly organized a non-sim exchange with me, a friend and my doggies to come to Borrby fora weekend in October. Ingrid was super easy to communicate with and just before us coming she sent me all the infor regarding her home so we were well preapred upon arrival. We got there just before dinenr time, so after a walk around the area with th dogs, we settled in, had dinner and spent the evening chilling. Saturday gifted us with gorgeous weather, so we went out for a run and in the afternoon we drove to Kåseberga to see The Ales Stone, which is called Stonehenges little sister and the littel harbour area around the corner from the stones. Ingrids home was nice and spacious and more than plenty of room for us. We cooked all meals at home and really enjoyed a relaxing time at home, chatting and rechrging our batteries. Ingrid had left us excellent instructions in ther home manual, so it was easy to clean and sort the house befdore we took off Sunday afternoon. Borrby is in the country side, with open fields just around the corner. There is a grocery store af few minutes walk away and a few shops up around the "main street. A charming church in the centre of twon as well and the beach is only 4 km away. There is plenty of things to see and do which we would have explored if we had had more time. The Fall colours had started to wake way dressing trees and bushes in beautiful colors everywhere. I'd be happy to come back some other time, Borrby is 2,5 hours drive from my home, so very easy and convenient. I also look forward to welcome Ingrid in my home when she's ready to come stay. I can highly recommend coming to Borrby as you'll get to experience Swedish country side charm, but with the sea within a few km range as well as other fun stuff to explore. Thank you Ingrid for making this exchange happen!

We ‘ve just returned after an absolutely amazing weekend get-away at Evas summer cottage in Bogø. Denmark consist of lots of Island, most of them pretty small in size, but all with something different and unique to offer. Bogø is a two hour drive from me (depending on traffic): so very easy and convenient. I was originally looking for a weekend get away as a surprise for my partner and one that would also be pet friendly so we could bring our dogs. Evas cottage fit the description and to our great joy she said yes to let us come. We set it up as a non reciprocal swap as some of their family members suffer from cat allergy and therefore cant stay in my home. We arrived at the cottage late Friday afternoon after a quick pitstop at the local (very small) grocery store to get the basic essentails for dinner and brekkie. There was still a bit of light so we could briefly enjoy the nice sea view from the cottage. We settled in quickly and enjoyed a simple dinner with the tasty local(ish) beer that Eva had left for us 😊 There aint really any light polution around the cottage and as it got pitch Black Dark there we could really enjoy the amazing star filled sky 🤩 The cottage might not be big, but it was super cosy and we had everything we needed to make our weekend get away just perfect! Bogø is a brilliant base to explore not just that Island, but also the nearby Mon with the famous Mons Klint as well as many other great spots to explore there. You can go to Lolland, which also has lots to offer. We didnt have time to “pop by”, but one of Thomas Dambos famous Trolls are only about 30 mins drive away (next time). Bogø has tiny narrow roads, opens fields, woodland, miles and miles of coastline, a tiny little harbour with a ferry to Stubbekøbing and a great bakery that turns into a pizzaria in the afternoon. If you’re an avid hiker , you can from Bogø hike a couple of segments of the famous Camøno, most of these are 20+ km. We did the local green route that is 7-9 km depending on the amount of detours, but gives you a taste of the different areas, the windmill, an Ancient site and more. We were really lucky with the weather for the last weekend of September. Though pretty windy, the Sun was out and we had lots of blue sky for our walks. Coming back to the cottage to chill was just great, and there is a wood burner to use too, which certainly adds to the cosiness 🤗 The weather was even pleasant and warm enough for us to use the outside shower and we had our late lunch outside on the patio before packing up, cleaning and leaving the cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend there and only wished we had had more time there. Eva kindly offered we could stay an extra day, but unfortunately work didnt allow us to do so. But… if you get the chance then exchange with Eva!!! Not only is her cottage a delight and offers a great part of Denmark, but Eva herself us a gem. Communication has been great from the beginning. Eva has been very accomodating and helpful from our first exchanged message and we’ve chatted occasionally up to as well as during the exchange. So a big and grateful thumbs up from us and we can only recommend exchanging with Eva and putting Bogø on the map. We’d def be happy to return 🫶

This was a short weekend exchange as Heidi and Mortens daughter had a badminton tournament close to my home. Heidi and I had been chatting about a weekend swap and she suggested this weekend as they were on Sealand anyways. Unfortunately I couldn't do a sim swap, but was happy to offer them a hospitality stay as I just went and stayed at my boyfriends home. Communication with Heidi has been excellent and easy from our intial contact. As it was just a weekend stay and I know the ropes of being away with sports kids, I suggested Heidi that we'd just leavet the house nice and tidy, but no need to waste time cleaning when barely being home. They had left me home just as agreed, nice and tidy and they had also loved on my kitty cats while at home. They also left me a lovely treat, which i look forward to taste! Heidi, Morten and family are most welcome back anytime wether for sports or recreation :-)

When Clare and family found themselves in an unfortunate Air B'n'B accomodation situation in Cph I responded to their FB post and offered to host them, so they could get out of that place. Within an hour we had agreed for them to come the following day as time was approcaching midnight. I prepared the bedrooms and gave my house a quick cleaning before I went to work the next morning and left a key for them so they could get in whenever they arrived. We stayed in touch during the couple of days they stayed in my home as I was very keen to make sure that they had a good experience even if they didnt get to stay in Copenhagen as they had originally planned for. I relocated to my boyfriends home during their stay and took the dogs with me. Clare and family tended to my cats and the chickens whiel there and took great care of my home as well as furry & feathery critters :-) I came back home to a tidy and clean house and they had even taken the time to do some laundry before they left the house, which was super kind of them. Unfortunately, we didn't manage to meet up, but as Clare has welcomed me in their home, I do hope we get to meet once I make it to their their side of the pond :-) I only wish I could have prepped more and better for their visit, but mostly I'm happy I was able to help out and pay forward some of the famous PLU magic <3

Agnieszka and family reached out last Fall about an exchange and though I couldn't do a sim swap, I was happy to offer them non sim and they agreed. Theyd had never been to Denmark and was very keen to come explore. they later told me that they hadnt had any luck finding an exchangein Denmark till I agreed,, so I am extra happy to welcome them :-) From our initial messages, Agnieszka has been a pleasure to communicate with. I also had the pleasure of meeting them while they were staying in my home and we spent some lovely hours chatting and enjoying ourselves. It was great to hear about their impressions of Denmark, their thoughts of home exchanging as well as experience their positive attitude towards life, travelling and meeting new people etc. Time flew so fast in their company and I'm sp happy that we got to meet IRL. And though they've only been exchanging since Fall 2023, they are excellent exchangers. They took great care of my home, my cats and chickens and they left my home clean and tidy. To top of things, they had also washed and hung up two sets of laundry, which was a lovely surprise to come home to. They had also left me a lovely note with a beautiful gift box, which was so sweet and kind of them. I can highly recommend them as exchange partners, and though they live outside a big city, I can only urge people to go anyways - I def can't wait till I can go stay at their place :-)

Casper and I went to stay in Joe and Jeanines home over Easter earlier this year and we had an absolute fab time ther ewith the valueadded bonus of looking after their fur babies <3 Now I could welcoem them in my house and it was such a pleasure to have them. One can tell that their are happy and experienced exchangers. Jeanine and I have chatted for a very long time from when we riginally started to organize our exchanges. We also kept in touch during their stay in Denmark and even managed to meet up for a drink one afternoon. It was brilliant meeting them i IRL and we chatted like we've known eachother for years - well, Jeanine and I didnt leave poor Casper and Joy many chanced to get a word in :-D They spoiled my furry critters big time and I'm sure my pets, especially Cleo, miss them much! Jeanine and Joe have taken excellen care of my pets and my home and it has been such a pleasure having them stay! They left my house in perfect condition and even took the time to prep a load of washing before they left. I can most certainly give them my highest recommendation and urge you to exchange with the lovely couple. You guys are always more than welcome to come back! <3

This is probably the fastest exchange I've ever organized! From I recived Emmas mail till it was finalized, it only took about 3 hours! Emma and family had some plans fall through and needed an alternative so they reached out to me and asked if I could host their family. Luckily I was able to help out and the following weekI was able to welcome them to my home. Communication was quick and easy from the start with Emma and we organized the details fast. I was able to meet Emaa and the boys during their stay as they popped by the library in twon where I work, which was really nice :-) They had asked if I could organize a cleaner for them after their stay, which I did. They had stripped the beds as agreed and they also started the washer with a load before they left the house. They took great care of my home, my chicken and my kitty cats. To top things off, emma had made me THE most delicious cheesecakes, three different flavours as well as some cup cakes - all were super yummy and were gone by the end of the day :-D Check out Blue Ribbon Cheese cakes at WOLT, Emma makes them!!! But not only did she make cheese cakes for me, but they also spoilt me rotten as they also left me gift certificates for a massage and the local brewery!!! Way too much, but really really sweet and generous of them <3 Anyways, if you get the chance to exchange with Emma and family then go for it as they are so lovely and great exchange guests. We've talked about meeting up for a beer at some point and crossing my fingers that we'll make that happen.

Some exchanges are just smoother than others and this one with Sarah, Matt and their girls were a such one. Back at Easter time Sarah and the girls happend to be in Belfast area at the same time as Casper and I, so we organized to meet for a cuppa and a walk with the doggies we were sitting. It was such a pleasure to meet Sarah and we just chatted away from the first moment we met :-D So to welcome Sarah and family a good month later but a pure pleasure! I popped by the house to say hi and meet Matt as well. We had talked about meeting iup later taht week for a ta, but they were so busy exploring Denmark, so that didn't work out. But Sarah and I kept in touch on daily basis and it was so great to hear about their adventures and impressions of Denmark. They were wonderful guests and took great care of my home and my pets. They were helpful keeping an eye out for the fox, who's taken a too keen interest in my chickens and they spoiled the cats big time with loads of TLC <3 They left my home nice, tidy and clean and had even taken to time to do a load in the washer before they took of - thank you! Sarah has been a delight to communicate with from the very first mail exchange and it didnt take long for us to finalize the exchange. I'm not sure when I'll be able to come to england, but when i do, I have no doubt that my stay with them will be a blast! It was a pleasure and looking forward to meet you guys again... ;-)

This exchange was set up on very short notice. I saw Oksanas post in the FB group when she was looking for place to exchange in Copenhagen within a few weeks. I reached out and said that Iwas not in Copenhagen, but about 45 mins outside the city on thr North shore. Oksana replied thst they were happy to come and we finalized. Two weeks later they arrived in Denmark and came to my home with public transport. They were looking after my kitty cats and chickens while I had taken my dog with me to my boyfriends. house. We kept in touch during their stay and it was such a delight to get the updates from Oksana, how was loving everything she experienced. We even managed to meep up one evening for coffee and a chat. It was so lovely to met Oksana, Derek and Alexei and talk about travelling, home exchanging, meeting New people, the beauty of Australia. Though they are new to home exchanging, they are not new to hosting people in their home. Communication was smooth and easy from out initial contact, they took great care of my home and my furry critters and left the house very nice and tidy. So dont hesitate to exchange with them if you get the opportunity. Looking forward to seeing you on Australia at some point 😊

A few years back Andrea and I was supposed to exchange, but COVID had other plans. We''ve not succeeded since in organizing a new swap, but we've kept in touch afterwards. And then FINALLY we were able to meet in person due to the Danish PLU meet up in Copenhagen on May 1st <3 Andrea wanted to attend the meet up and asked if I would host her and I happily agreed. Originally she was coming ofr 3 nights, but then she got the opportunity to stay with another PLU'er in Malmö (Theresia), which I thought was a wonderful chance to get. So eventually Andrea only stayed with me the night after the PLU meet up, along side my Aussie exchangers Bonnie and Graham, who also attended the meet up. We didn't have much time to chat, but we did our best and can certainly agree that we have lots to talk about! :-D It was a pleasure to meet Andrea and have her stay and hopefulyl it wont be too long before we get to meet again here, there or somewhere else.... ,-) Till next time Andrea <3

When I was planning on visitting Australia back in 2022 I was chatting with Bonnie, whom I originally "met" via the HE site as we happend to be in the US at the same time in 2018 with me in Boston and Bonnie & Grraham near. However, we couldnt get the timing right so we didnt succeed in meeting up. WE've kept tab on each other afterwards so when I was going to OZ I reached out. Bonnie offered to host me during my time in Atherton and I was more than happy to agree! And oh boy, what wonderful hosts they were and bonnie made sure I got to see some of the amazing sights the area has to offer and they spoiled me rotten! When I left, I didn't expect to see them again in any near future, so I was very thrilled when Boonnie worte and said they were planning a Europe trip and if they could come!!!!! And not only did they come to Europe, but they also came to my home where I was more hen thrilled to host them. Their stay aligned with the planned Danish PLU meet up in Copenhagen with the attendance of Kathy and Drew, our PLU founders. Unfortunately I had to work during the week Bonnie & Graham stayed, so I couldnt take them around as I would have loved to, but as they are super experienced world travelers they were out and about on their own during the day and we'd hang out in the evenings. As Graham is a big crafts beer lover as well as brews his own beer, I obviously ha to take them to our local brewery in Hundested ;-) During their stay, the fox unfortunately killed all my chooks except for one and Bonnie was a sweetheart and helped clean up after the "visit". So in her honor I named the final girl Bonnie after her ;-) I only wish they could have stayed longer as they are such lovely people and great fun to hang out with. As I told my boyfriend before they arrived, my hope and wish is to be like them when I reach my seventies as I truly admire their sense of adventure and love of live and travelling. They took great care of my home while staying, obviously pros at home exchanging! If you go to Australia, make sure to reach out to them to exchange as you'll love their home and area and if you're really lucky, you'll get to meet them as well. Oh wow, I hardly know where to begin.... I absolutely LOVE Ireland and have had the good fortune to exchange there about 5 times, but I had never been to Northern Ireland. So when Jeanine said yes to exchange I was overly thrilled! We finalized the swap long in advance and it ended up being non sim, with me and Casper coming Easter time and Jeanine and Joe will come in July. From our very first contact, communication with Jeanine has been a joy. She's a super fast replier, very easy to communicate with, a well of good advice and super helpful with whatever I threw at her. She was super understanding when it turned out that my work has messed up my vacation dates and I had to write and ask if we could alter them and honestly I think it turned out for the better the way the dates worked out. Casper and I flew to Dublin and rented a car there as that was cheaper for us than flying into Belfast. Even more so as we had finalized a 4 night exchange with Tom and Eileens adorable home - Annalee Cottage - in Cootehill before heading to Belfast. We got to Jeanines home a bit earlier in the day than expected due to bad weather in Rostrevor where we had planned to do a hike and we had the pleasure of meeting Nicole and family (from England) briefly, who had stayed in Jeanines home before us so a back-to-back exchange. We were also welcomed by the two adorable little furballs Darcy and Bailey, that were a part of our exchange. After having been out shopping groceries we took a chill day and really enjoyed a lovely time in the hot tub in the garden with glass of wine - could def get used to that! ;-) Our days in Belfast simply flew by. I though a week would give me time to see and do loads and it did, but honestly we just scratched the surface. When in Ireland the weather pretty much determinds what you can do and when, so one has to acknowledge that fact and make sure to bring prober clothing and shoes if you plan to hike and be outdoors (which you def should in my opinion). Casper and I love to hike so we had picked some trails that sounded great. We went up the Antrim Coast, which is nothing short of STUNNING. We did a quick pitstop at The Dark Hedges, the first stop at a GoT film location. Then drove to and parked the car at Dunseverick and took the bus to Carrick-a-Rede. We walked to the little island across the rope bridge, saw the location used for Renly Barathyons camp in GoT before we walked along the coast back to Dunseverick. I can highly recommend this as the scenery is breathtaking and also gives you another GoT film location at Ballintoy Harbour. I took soooooo many pictures cos around every corner was more beautiful scenery. Just be aware of the tide around White Park Bay if you wanna do the full hike (approx 9 km). We went back up to the Antrim Coast to visit the Giants Causeway. Go early as it'll crawl with people around lunch time. We also visited Bushmill with the famous distillery and tried to find the two little Gin destiileries in the area, but no luck. We did however find the bottles for sale in a shop in Bushmill so happy me :-D We also made it to Dunluce Castle 2 miles from Bushmill, another location used in GoT (used as Seat of House Greyjoy, the great castle of Pyke) - very nice and worth going to. We also took the dogs on a hike up Cave Hill from Belfast Zoo, which gives great views over the city. Sometimes it is a small world as it turned out that Sarah and family, who'll be coming to my home end of May happend to be exchanging just north of Belfast the same time we were there, so we met up for a doggie walk and a cuppa. Sarahs first exchange happend to be at Jeanines home! It was lovely to meet and have a mini PLU meet up and I look forward to welcoming Sarah shortly. We also explored Belfast with visits to the Titanic Museum. Book tickets in advance as we had to wait for two hours when we just waked in. We spent the waiting time walking the Titanic Trail, visiting the Titanic Distillery and grab a snack at "The Galley" in the museum as we had a short, but heavy rain shower then. As a HUGE Narnia fan, I dragged Casper around Belfast to find the C.S. Lewis Square with figures from the tales as well as the statue of the man himself (did the same in Rostrevor). We also ended up doing a minor pub crawl discovering a couple of breweries in town. It was super convenient to take the bus into the city as the bus stop is only two minutes walk from the house - can highly recommend doing that rather then driving and parking. It was lovely to have the company of the little cute furballs, which were really easy going and cuddly. They loved cuddling when we hit the couch for movie or some reading. It was no hassle at all to pet sit and I'll happily do it again <3 Jeanine had sent me both the home manual and videos with instructions regarding the dogs and how to work the hot tub - one can def tell she's a pro at exchanging! We kept in touch during our stay via WhatsApp, which was nice and helpful. Overall, I can highly recommend to visit Northern Ireladn and if you get the chance, then exchange with Jeanine and Joe - you wont regret it! Thank you Jeanine for letting us come, we loved every minute of our stay and I hope to come back <3

Eileen and I connected via a Facebook post when I had mentioned I was going to Belfast, NI and was looking to add another exchange to the trip. Eileen commented, suggesting her cottage in Cootehill and I reached out to her. Eileen was a trial member at this point, but signed up so we could finalize the exchange., which ended up being a non sim swap. Later on, I had some issues with my travel dates, but Eileen was very accomodating and willing to change the dates. Communication with Eileen has been a pleasure from the first message. She’s happy and positive and been giving me many tips and advices before coming to Cootehill. The day we arrived, she and her husband awaited us at the cottage, had a fire in the burner going, which was so lovely. They also gave us a quick intro to the cottage before they left to go back to Dublin. They had left us so many treats, like homemade scones and delicious jam - soooo yummy! They def made us feel welcome in every possible way 💝 I’ve never been to Cootehill before or the area despite this being my fifth visit to Ireland. Cavan def is a hilly area and we got the best of rural bliss. Every morning I’d go check out the view from the living room window as it was so pretty wether it was sunny or grey. The nearest village was a couple of minutes drive away for shopping and other stuff. There is Errigal Country House Hotel about a km away and we walked there one day to enjoy a VERY delicious afternoon tea (booking is a good idea) and they also have a spa departement, which we didnt have time to check out.. From the lovely Annalee Cottage, we explored as much as we could. We drove up to do the Cuilagh Board Walk, which was a great experience. From there we walked to the Marble Arch Cave and did a tour there before walking back to our car park. Heads up, car parks there will charge you 6 euros. The Culiagh area has lot of great hikes if you like the outdoors Stuff.. We also went to Rossmore Forest Park one afternoon and enjoyed very much the trails there and looking for Roddy the giant and other figures along the trails. We only had a couple of days in Cootehill, but could easily have spent more time there. When we got home from a day out, we loved to just hang out in the lounge, to read, watch a movie on the iPad (No wi fi) or just relax. Honestly, even if Cootehill seems rural, it is so worth it and I can highly recommend exchanging with Eileen - we really loved our stay in Annalee Cottage. I’m looking very much forward to welcome Eileen and Tom when they make it to Denmark ☺️

This exchange was set up already last year anddAmie, Liam and Liesel was supposed to stay with me for three week, but it was cut down as they got the opportunity to stay a bit longer at the home in sweden they started out with. but finally they arrived in January and they brought their cute little dog with them. She was indifferetn yo my cats, so they all got along nicely :-) I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely Alaskian family during their stay and it was great to chat and pick their brain about Juneau to get a quick impression as I plan to go there in 2026. Communication with Amie was super easy from our initail contact. They took care of my kitties and the chickens and I'm sure the cats, especially Mimika were sad to see Liesel leave ;-) They left my home nice and tidy and had been so kind to do a load of laundry before taking off, which was highly appreciated :-) I hope you guys enjoyed your time in grey and gloomey Denmark and had a safe trip home. Hoping to see you again when I make it to Alaska in a not too didstant future!

I had the pleasure of welcoming Van and her family in the middle of December for their trip to Denmark. We'd been writing along the way, sorting details etc. I had warned Van that the winter in Denmark can be pretty cold, wet and dark, which tured out to be true and to top things off they also had the pleasure of "Pia" the storm. I' been told that their little girl Lily loves cats, so I knew that my fur babies would be spoiled and getting lots of attention <3 Communication with Van was nice and smooth from the initial message and we also kept in tough during their stay. I was residing at my boyfirends home nearby with my dog, so I was close by if anyting was needed. I came by the house one evening and had the pleasure of meeting them briefly. They were really easy guests and they left my home nice and tidy before they left for the next leg of their travel. They had also left me some lovely treat, which I thoguht was really sweet of them :-) I can def recommend exchanging with Van and family and I cant wait till I can start planning for me to go to their home in Canada! Safe travels guys and enjoy Europe depsite the weather ;-)

We’ve just today left Jackson after some really amazing days exploring both the little town as well as the AMAZING Tetons NP, which is about 20 mins drive away. I reached out to Christy right after she had activated her listing in 2022. I was in the proces of planning my big long awaited trip to the US. I already had a non sim in Idaho waiting, which was gonna include a visit to Yellowstone. But I also dreamed of visitting The Tetons in Wyoming, so when I saw Christys brand new listing, I reached out and asked If she would be open to a swap. Christy kindly replied that they werent looking to come to Denmark, but were happy to host, so we finalized a hospitality exchange. Christy and Bryans home is perfectly situated in Jackson, only 2-3 mins drive from the centre of town, so you can easily walk into town If you want to. They are also around the corner from the Snow King Mountain ski lift, which also happens to be right across the Street from the brilliant StillWest Brewery & Grill. We had the very spacious bedroom with ensuite bathroom in their basement, so we could come and go without disturbing them for the early mornings we did to explore the NP. We had access to the kitchen and amenites upstairs and due to the fabulous weather we were gifted with during our stay, we also enjoyed sitting outside on their balcony ☺️ Our hosts werent home when we arrived, but Christy sent us information on how to get in, whcih room was ours etc, so that worked out nicely. We met them later in the evening, which was really nice. They provided us with tips on local places to go to as well as great hikes to check out. And I must say that the Tetons are absolutely fantastic. The park is not as big as its neighbour Yellowstone, so there are not as much driving needed to get around and explore the beauty of the place. We had a couple of early mornings to get out there before the crowds got too big and no parking available. We also went to the famous Mormon Row, with the old Amish homesteads, which is the most photograped spot in the park. When you go there and watch the sun rise, you can easily see why… 😉 We spent our days in Jackson/The Tetons well and got some great hikes in the bank. On our hike to Cascade Canyon we saw five moose - pretty amazing!! On our hike around Jenny Lake we also spotted a Bald eagle sitting in a three near the trail! If you’re into pristine (glacier) lakes, mountains, majestic scenery and alpine terrain, then the Tetons is a perfect place to go 😍 Jackson cemtre is pretty small, but bustling with life and lots of lovely places to eat out and look at art, not to forget the excellent breweries. To be honest, it isnt a cheap place to be and If I hadnt had the amazing luck the have the hospitality swap at Christys place, we wouldnt have been able to stay here overnight and certainly not for 6 days! So a heartfelt “thank you” Christy and Bryan for hosting us and giving us the opportunity to experience the amazing and stunning beauty and scenery that The Tetons offer. And If you ever decide to put Denmark on your travel map, please do reach out 😊

Back in the Summer of 2019 I had the great pleasure of hosting the Hansen family. They stayed with me for 5 weeks where they stayed in the house and I stayed in my self-contained basement flat, that I always use then I host exchangers. They are great people and I really enjoyed having them stay and for a long period of time, which allowed to grow a genuine friendship. Jen came back for two weeks in 2021 to visit and we had a lvoely time. COVID postponed my trip to Idaho, but FINALLY this year I was able to fullfill my long awaited dream to travel their way. Since It has been a long way in the making, changes has happend here and there, but to be onest, I think it was an advantge cos having just returned, I'm so filled with impressions from all the amazing things i've seen and experienced <3 We tarted out trip in Utah, flying into SLC and had an exchange there for a few day while exploring some of Utahs many places of interest. We dropepd our rental car at the airport and jumped in a bus to Rigby, Idaho where our exchange with Jen and Zack was awaiting. They picked us up from the bus stop and treated us to dinner, wel actually all meals the first couple of days we were there. We used Jens car during the entire exchange, a lovely Subaru that I rerally enjoyed driving :-D they gve us some great advices on sights within 1.5 hour drive, including Craters of the Moon that I didnøt know of. but what a great place, I was pretty excited about this park and can highly recommend going there! Also Caribou-Targhee Forest area has some great hikes and only 20 mins away in Heise you can enjoy Hot Springs. Our room was spacey and with ensuite bathroom and a walkin closet (those are very rare in Denmark). The house is big, spacious and with a nice open kitchen that has all the amenities you'd need. We enjoyed very much to chance to sit and share meals, chatting and learning. As a part of the exchange they had offerred that we could borrow a trailerto go camping in Yellowstone National Park as they knew that that was a life long dream om mine <3 Casper and I drove to Yellowstone the day before campingas we had booked a night at Old Faithfull Inn (booked it 9 months in advance) as I really wanted to add a stay at the iconic Inn to my travels. It is def a popular place and not cheap, but it was worth it! The next day Jen and Zack towed the trailer up to Yellowstone, where we stayed at the Madison Campgorund and set if up for us. The campground had water issue due to a water leak nearby, so that was intersting, but we had everything we needed in the trailer, so we were fine. Madison was our base the next days and we went here there and everywhere explore the parks amazing and fasciinating geology, wild life and scenery. We saw lot of bisons, deers, chipmunks and some deers as well as fish in the various rivers. We did several hikes, which showed us mind blowing scenery and a great way to escape the worst crowds. I took sooooooo many pictures :-D When our stay in the park ended, Jack nd Jen came back up to the park to pick up the trailer and towed it back home as the Subary didnt have to power to do the job. We squeezed in one more hike befdore we followed them home. The had gotten some foster kittens in the mean time and they were absolutely adorable, so we spent some time getting some furry kittly love <3 the nnext day we drove to our next and last exchange in Jackson, Wyoming where The Tetons was our main goal to explore. We still used Jens car, which was really kind and generous of them to let us keep it for the week we were away. JAckson is about 1.5 hour drive from their home in Rigby, so really easy and nice. After we completed our escahnge in Jackosn, we driove the car back ro return it and stayed another night at their home before jumping on a bus back to Salt Lake City, where our return flight was. I cannot recommend the Hansen enought as exchange partners! They went above and beyond to help us get the most amazing experience. They spoiled us rotten and treated us to meals, beer, talks and good times. not to forget how wonderful it was to be able to borrow a trailer to go camping as well as letting us use one of their cars, which really was a luxury and helped us save a big chunk of money! Jen also took us shopping so we hd all we needed for the camping get awayand they also brought us to a friens house, who were throwing like a hot dog garden party sorta thing with neighbours, friends and a couple of crazy Danes :-D This entire trip was a blast and I cannot thank you guys enough for helping us make this so memorable - the travel back pack is stuffed with so many inpressions from all we saw and did. Idaho is surely a very overlook destinations, which is a real shame I hope to see you again in the near furture, you know you are ALWAYS welcome back here in Denamrk - the sooner the better <3

When my original travel plans for my trip to Utah, Idaho an dWyoming changed due to first a cancellation and then a change of dates, I reached out to Chris and Branda asking If they were Open to a non sim exchange. Chris and I have been in touch earlier on, even before COVID, but dates never worked out befor. Luckily Chris replied instantly and said yes to an exchange and from there my trip just fell into place 🫶 Their condo in Midvale is perfectly situated when you fly into Salt Lake Ciry as we did - only a 20-25 minute drive from the airport. It is also situated around the corner from all the shopping, estaurans and a Brewery you could wish for, which is just perfect. The condo itself is really nice and had the perfect size for us as a couple. Super nice and space and it had everything we ended including a little blacony which we enjoyed fornlunch before leaving. We didnt stay there much as we ventured down to Moab for a couple of nights to enjoy the National Parks of Arches and Canyonlands staying a a hotel as the drive is four hours one way without a break. But if/when we return to explore Utah more, Id be more than happy to stay at this condo again to explore more locally as SLC and the nearby hiking options etc. Chris has ever since our initial contact been great at communicating and has offered loads of great advice on Stuff to do, which has been greatly appreciated. Thank you for letting us stay in your wonderful place and for the lovely welcome gifts you had left for us. I look very much forward to welcoming you to my home in Denmark when it fits your plans ☺️

I replied to a post in the Facebook group where Madelen was looking to go somewhere and happy to look after pets as well. I was going the the US doing three back to back non-sim/hospitality exchanges so was looking for someone who be happy tonstay in my home ans look after my furry critters 😊 We wrote back and forth and ended up finalizing a hospitality exchange for 3 weeks while I was away. Madelen came the night before we were flying out the US and I picked her up in Hillerød. It was great to get the chance to meet gowever briefly and I could introduce to the cats and dogs as well as give a quick introduction to the routines. Unfortunately within the first week Madelen had to cut the exchange short due to unexpected medical issues, but luckily she stayed long enough for me to find an alternative solution. A unfortunately situation, but these are some of the unexpected things that you just cannot plan for, but luckily it was resolved fast and I hope that Madelen is back on her feet asap 🙏

I responded to a post Kaley made in t he Facebook group right after she had signed up rreassuring her that their home in Prince Edward Island (PEI) would be a very popular spot and if they would cinsider Denamrk for their upcomig trip to Europe, then I would be happy to welcome then. Less than 24 hours after they had become premium membes, we finalized a non sim swap :-) Fast forward a couple of months and I could welcome Kaley, Mike and Jonas in my home in the beginning of August. Things had been a bit hectic as I only the night before put the last stuff in place after some hectic weeks with house renovations. I was able to meet and greet them at the house when they arrived and they were all such nice and lovely people and before I left the house we had agreed to meet up later in the week for a beer at our local brewery :-) I just felt so bad for them as they stayed a week where the rain poured down, we had a couple fo stormy days and Denamrk did not flash all its ususal beauty. The cats however certainly loved having them around and so lots of furry love going around the place. The cats were certainbly spoiled big time! We had such a lovely evening haning out and chatting at hte brewery and the hours just flew and I wish we could have had more time. Communication was great and super from the very first message excahnged and we kept in toughduring their stay as well. They were such a pleasure having as guest and I'm happy that they got a nice experience for their very first exchange ever - always a bit of pressure as you wnat people to have a fantastic time and fall in love with home exchanging <3 I feel like I welcomed fellow exchangers and said good bye to friends and I can't wait till I can start planning my trip to PEI :-) Theys guys may be new to exchaning, but they did everything just right and left my home in excellent condition and had even left me some lovely treats from PEI, which was really sweet of them. Thank you for coming Kaley, Mike and Jonas - I hope we meet again <3

When I was in Australia the Fall of 2022 I had the good fortune to meet Fiona and John at the PLU meet up in Brisbane. At this time we had already organized our non-sim exchange, but is was lovely to meet them in person and put faces to the names. Between then and up till their visit we were keeping in touch, so I really felt it more like friends coming than "just" exchangers. I was around when they came to Denmark for their stay in my home and I was happy to be able to welcome them when they arrived, a chat that ended up with coffee and good laughs. They are such a nice, friendly and open couple :-) During their stay, we kept in touch and they kindly invited me and my boyfriend for dinner the night before they were leaving. We had such a lovely evening just talking away about big and small things. Fiona and John took brilliant care of my cats and my home during their stay (the dogs were with me) and they left my home spotless and had even changed the bed sheets as well as washed and hung the used one - thank you so much for that :-) John had even mowed my lawn, much appreciated as well! Time flew so fast and I only wish that they could have stayed longer so we could have spent some more time together. Thank you both, it was a pleasure having you here and you're always welcome back :-)

Unfortunately Lori and David had to cancel their stay in my home du e to unexpected circumstances, but they are welcome at any point in the future whenever it works for them to come :-)

I had added Loris and Davids home to my favourites ages ago when they originally listed their cabin in Norht Carolina, so I was thrilled when Lori suggested I added their place to my Kentucky swap. Fast forward, we finalized shortly after af sim swap as they were happy to come to Denmark :-) Communicatio nwith Lori before, during and after the exchange has been a pleasure and it is obvious that Lori is a very experienced exchanger. She replies swift and are super helpful no matter what questions you throw at her. She also sent me lots of suggestions for this happening around her place, places to see and go to, whcih was really great and big inspiration. Quiet Oaks Cabin was everything I thought it would be and then some. It is a cabin, but very spacey and has all the amenities one could ask for! The toilet is the most advanced one I've ever encountered, we were pretty imprressed with it ;-) Everything htere was so nice and comfortable and I'm absolutely in love with the wood burner, which we used one night after coming back late and feeling chilled - oh boy was that just nice haning in the couch watch a movie and with that burner adding to the cosiness!!! As the babin is away from the road it felt like very private and far away from everything which we really enjoyed when coming home after a long day out and about. Hayesville is only a short drive from the cabin and super convenient for shopping, getting gas and has really nice historic township with cute shops and a couple of good craft breweries. The location was good for all sorts of activities. My boyfriend and I love to hike so we spend lots of time researching which trails to hit, which took us to lots of different places both in NC as well as Georgia as the cabin is only about 20 minutes from the state border. There are lakes, rivers, mountains etc within easyrreach, so horse riding, zip lining and white water rafting can be done here, though we didn't manage to squeeze those activities in this time around. It is very green and coming from Denmark (very flat country) it was fun to be surrounded be green tree clad mountains, where some of those roads really were narrow and winding - I was really happy that we were driving a car with automatic gear!!! As we were coming from Nashville, TE and spend hours pitstopping in Rock City and at Ruby Falls, we arrived to the cabin shortly after 10 pm, but easy to get in as they had sent a video of where the keylock was and the code - and what a lovely welcome basket that was awaiting us <3 Overall I can only say that we had such a wonderful stay at the cabin and I only regret that we didn't have more time to stay and explore even more. As we got back usually around (late) dinner time, we never got to enjoy the fire pit outside, the patio or that many other spots we would have loved to be able to include during out stay. In my opinion North Carolina seems to be a very overlooked destination, so I can only urge people to go there and exchanging with Lori and David will give you THE BEST stay and excahnge experience, so don't hesitate to reach out to them. Thank you so much for letting us stay at your wonderful place and I hope to come back at some point as well as welcome you in Denmark <3

I have the good fortune to be exchanging in the US, one sim and one non sim. For the non sim I was so lucky that Barbara and friends were happy to come stay at my home for those ten days (hospitality) and looks after my home and pets. They arrived the evening before I was flying out, so I got to meet & great them as well as show them the ropes around my furry critters. From our initial first contact, Barbara has been a delight to communicate with and she's super fast in replying to any messages/questions and a very helpful and generous person. My place as well as both cats and dogs were very well taken care off and given plenty of love 🥰 I feel very lucky that these ladies were willing to come all the way from the US to help me out and at the same time were able to visit and enjoy the gems that my area has to offer. They also kindly prepped my home for the next exchange persons arrival, which was a great help for me. Thank you Barbara for everything and I hope we'll meet again here, there or somewhere 🤗

Anni and Lauri listed their home earlier this year and when I saw they had availabilty over Easter break I reached out, Anni replied positivly and shortly after an exchange was finalized - yay! From your very first message exchange, communication with Anni was super easy and smooth and we also did a call to work out some details before finalizing our non sim exchange. Anni was always super swift in replying and very helpful in every way no matter what question I might have. Anni sent me their home manual before arriving and I was really impressed as it was very detailed, with grerat directions on how to get to their apartment wether coming from the airport or street wise. And I have to say that for all my exchanges, this is likely the most easy accessable home I've ever exchanged to! We arrived in the evening, but could take bus 600 straight from the airport in Helsinki and to a bus stop 2 minutes walk to their apartment building. Even though we got delayed, Annis mom met us t the bus stop and walked us to the apartment and handed over the door key - super service! :-D The apartment is on the 3rd floor, but has elevator if one prefers. The apartment itself is a super nice and cosy one bed room place, but seems very bright and spacey. It is perfect for either solo travellers of couples, even if you're travelling with a small child that can share your bed. The apartments is brilliantly located for everything! Two minutes walk to grocery shops, cafes and other shopping as well as transportation. The Metro is around the corner, bus and tram stop too tht will take you both into the centre of town as well as all the way to the Ferry port in case you wanna take a (day) trip to Tallinn like we did (Tram nr. 7 4, a 45 mins ride). We chose however to walk into the city centre which took us about 33-40 mins depending on the route, which was a great way to see more. We also walked about 15 minutes for our Finnish Sauna experience with the combo of sweating and dipping into the freezing water - you cold def tell we were tourists :-D So when it comes to location it doesnt get much better than this place! Helsinki is a very nice and charming city and well worth a visit. We walked all over, often quite randomly. The city centre itself is quite small, but it has lots to offer, even when it is still a chill season - there we till patches of snow here and there, but once the sun came out, the sky was ever sdo blue and gorgeous. Loads of great places to eat and drink, though prices are like in Denmark = not cheap. we love craft beer, so tried out some of the many places serving Finnish brew, with Helsinki Bryggeri as a top spot! We also had to try the famous salmon soup - yuuuum!!!! There are several Fazer Cafés in the city, but we went to the original one and indulged in several of the cakes there - sooooo good but def blocking out all thoughts of calories :-D On Annis recommendation we booked a day trip to Tallinn (Estonia) where we walked around mainly in the old town, again tasting local beers and food. The weather was great so we really enjoyed our day there, so can def recommend doing this and maybe even stay a night if time allows - the crossing is two hours. The ferry/port was only about 15 minutes walk from the old town, so it couldnt be much easier. A good advice is to book the breakfast buffet on the ferry when buying the ferry tickets as it was sold out when we got on board and the restuarant holds 400 seats. We didn't have time for it, but there is so many interesting places to visit outside Helsinki, but that'll have to wait till next time... But if you have any doubts, I can strongly recommend to visit Helsinki and when you do, Anni and Lauris place is the place to stay! A wonderful exchange and great exchange partners, whom I look forward to welcome in Denmark :-)

As I was going to be in Malaga for one night, I reached out ans asked Carmen if she had time to meet up now that I was in the area and she replied kindly and offered to host me. And not only that, she also picked me up at the airport and showed me some of the beauty and fun that Malaga has to offer. We drove into the city after enjoying a stunning sunset from above the city and walked around in the city centre. We had tapas and Spanish beers, both which as delisious. She also introduced me to roasted chestnuts, which I found tasty. Carmen was such a lovely, kind and sweet host and I feel super lucky that she was in town and took the time not only to host me but also show me around. We had a great and fun time talking and haning out. I look very much forward to see Carmen again next year when she comes to Denmark and will be exchanging less than 10 km from me :-) Thank you Carmen <3

During my amazing trip in Australia I started my line of exchanges with Dave and Shereex. I had two nights in their lovely and very spacey basement flat before we headed of two our camping adventure in Fraser Island (another previous review). After my two nights hospitality stay with Sandra Clarke in Chuwar, Dave kindly picked me up there and we went to their home for a coffee before Dave again very kindly was dropiing me off at my last exchange in nearby Kedron. While about to et ready to head out the door I get a message from my next host that she has just tested positive with COVID! Ooops, not so lucky so in my moment of panic, I ask Dave and Sheree if I could stay with them. And despite the moment of surprise and short notice (!) they said yes! Thanks to their kind and generous nature and personalities, the issue was solved within 30 seconds or so <3 I feel very lucky that they kindly openend their home (again) to me in this urgent situaion and not only did they let me stay the extra five nights before me flight back to Denmark, they also took super good care of me. Dave had business up the sunshine cost so he brough me and dropped me off at Mooloolaba for at day out beach bumming - a really lovely day with the value added bonus of finding a little brewery and seeing a carpet snake! The flat I stayed in is quite perfect weather you travel solo as me or come as a family as it has three bedroom and a pretty large bathroom with shower. The kitchen had everything I needed for the cooking I got around to while there, a big dining table, lounge area and big doors out to the shaded patio with access to Sherees nice garden. I sat there for reading, writing postcards and snacks - just brilliant. The apartment has its own entrance door, so one can stay completely private if so as the washer and dryer are also downstairs. I was however, lucky enough to enjoy both coffee, meals and five o'clock snacks with Dave and Sheree not to forget sweet little Greta, the dachshound. It was such a pleasure hanging out with them and it's a definite 5 star review from me, which goes for both my first stay with them including the camping trip as well as this "life saving" situation. If you get the opportunity, then I highly recommend to exchange with these guys, you will get the best service and exchange partners, so go for it! I certainly hope to return to Australia and meet them again - thank you so much for saving my butt and showing me an awesome time <3

My trip Down Under was long under way Thanks to COVID, buts ome good things did come out of it…. During the two year postponement Sandra and I started to chat and when I went into the final stages of planning dates and locations,, she kindly offered to host me for a couple of days, which I happily accepted 😊 When I came flying into Brisbane, Sandra work her schedule so that she could Pick me up at the irpot, which was very kind and a great luxury. The home of Steve and Sandra big and spacious and I got a lovely room with own bathroom. A beautiful decorated home with all you could need to make your stay perfect, not to forget the big garden with veggies and fab pool area. Last but not least, there is Hamish, the gorgeous labradoodle 💖 The first night we had dinner with a potential New PLU family and hopefully they will join us in the future. Though Sandra had to work, she took time out to take me for a drive to Rosewood, where I had my first pub meal with a “schnitty” ☺️ I spent two lovely nights in Chuwar and managed both to squeeze in a run and some chill time, which was really nice and so easy in the calm surroundings of the Clarkes home. If you want the best of both worlds, then their home is superb as you can reach Brisbane easily as well as other locations, but also enjoy a relaxing home day by the pool and patio. Thank you for your hospitality Steve and Sandra, the talks and laughs as well and I look forward to meet you again 🙏

When planning my long awaited trip to Australia I got in touch with Bonnie, who had moved back to Atherton. I werent planning to make it all the way up north as I had limited time, but when Bonnie kind offered to host me for a weeks time, I happily accepted this kind offer. Bonnie was a pleasure to communicate with from the beginning and we also face timed about what Id like to do while with them. Bonnie suggested a list of things to see and do, offering to drive me around and I happily agreed to all of her suggestions. She and Graham even picked me up at the airport in Cairns and we drive the 1,5 hour to their home in Atherton. I had such a fantastic time there. Bonnie and I was out and about, exploring many of the great places and sights that both the Outback and Tableland offer. We went to Undara Volcanic National Park, watched the Sunset from Kilkani crater, visited hot springs, loads of different waterfalls, went swimming at some of them, drove up the Ranges, through typical little Aussie townships, visited the local Bat Hospital and the list goes on. We also went to the local Brewery for beer and pizza and then spent a night at the drive in in Mareeba, doing a double feature and I was introduced to the drive in way of things with burger, fries, beer and choc top - loved it 😁 Then Bonnie and drove to Cairns, where I spend a lovelyday on Fitzroy Island and the following day doing the Kuranda Scenic Railway experience and Bonnie did some other things. We also drove up to Port Douglas to enjoy the scenic Coastal views. Bonnie dropped me off at the airport Monday morning as I was headed down to Brisbane for my next stay with Sandra and Steve. I really has such an awesome week with Bonnie and Graham in Atherton and can highly recommend not only this location to explore the Tablelands and the Outback, but also to exchange with these lovely people. Bonnie knew all the good places and was a master as spotting wildlife, so I got to see a cassowary, tree kangaroo, a playtus and more 😍 So guys, put Atherton on your Aussie iteniary and reach out to these guys!!!

This exchange is another one that had been long in the making since I had been in touch with Lisa pre-COVID and later Joy when it finally looked like I could proceed with my planning. I came straight from Fraser Island, where I had done a camping trip with another PLU exchange family, who dropped me off at a ferry taking me to Riverheads, where Joy kindly picked me up It was so nice to meet Joy after chatting for so long 😊 she took me for a ride so I could aqquaint myself with the neighbourhood as well as taking me to a shop so I could grab something for dinner. Joy had googled Danish breakfast and had bought that for me, waiting in the fridge. I didn’t realize there was a such thing, so we had a good laugh about that, but I highly appreciated her consideration. I stayed in the separat apartment to the house, which was really nice, cosy, spacious and clean. The next morning I met Joy for an early ride and she took me to see kangaroos and treated me to the most delicious brekkie and we went out to get fish and chips for dinner planning on taking it to the beach for the sunset. She kindly offered to drop me off at the bus station early the next morning as I had to be there at 6 am Joy is such a happy and positive person and I really enjoyed the time we got To spend together however short - thank you for everything Joy and I hope you’ll have a fab time in Bolivia soon ❤️

This exchange has been long in the making as COVID got in the way for my trip back in 2020. But, all good comes to (s)he who waits 😉 The exchange with Dave and Sheree was a bit different as they had offered to take me camping to Fraser, which I happily agreed to! They are experienced campers and they took care of everything, so all was prepped and ready for my arrival in Brisbane. Dave kindly picked me up at the airport and they treated me to a lovely dinner Nd treats as well. Then off to Fraser we went, catching the barge at Rainbow Beach. Pictures and videos of Fraser Island doesn’t really do it justice! It was magic, magnificent and with stunning scenery of so many kinds. Dave had booked us into a beach campsite at Dundabara as it is fenced in to keep dingos out. He and Sheree really are pro campers and had everything set up in no time. I had a tent and they slept in their trailer camper and we were cooking on the camping kitchen in the back of the trailer. Also very reassuring to have an experienced driver behind the wheel as it takes some skills to drive in sand/dunes. We saw more than one car being bogged or towed… Based on our previous chats, they had made a great inteniary to ensure I got to see some of the best spots that Fraser Island has to offer, including Eli Creek, Wathumba, Champagne Pools, Lake McKenzie, the Maheno ship wreck, looooooong stretches of beach driving and a night at central Station camp site in the rain forest part of the island and plenty of native wild life. I loved every minute of the trip to Fraser with Dave and Sheree and are ever so grateful that they took me there, planning everything from A-Z as they dropped me off at Kingfisher Bay for my crossing to Riverheads for my next exchange. It was so nice and good fun to sit around the camp at night, enjoying a cold beer or wine, roasting marshmallows, chatting and joking around - lots of good laughs. One evening we went to the beach and enjoyed a drink, cheese and crackers and a dingo pup came to say hello!! I cannot thank you guys enough for treating me to this amazing experience, It was FANTASTIC! I had the great pleasure of having Annie, her son Ethan and a friend staying in my home on a non-sim exchange while I was away to Australia on some other non-sim exchanges. From the initial contact, Annie has been an absolute delight to communicate with. As our exchange was finalized in fine time before taking place, we had plenty of time to chat beforehand, getting details sorted etc. They stayed in my home for 3 weeks, while I’m away for four weeks. The dogs were staying with friends, but Annie was taking care of my cats, of which she did a more than excellent job, so thank you for your effort, patience and spoiling them 😻 My home was beautifully taken care of and Annie even threw in an extra cleaning, as I suddenly had to have someone come assess my home, which wasnt planned for and I felt bad for having to inform her about this. Annie took the news with grace and made sure my home was ready for “inspection” - Thank you ever do much! We kept in touch frequently and was following each others travels via Facebook and I was thrilled to see that they did get to explore Denmark and went to some great spots and even made it to Sweden for a weekend 😊 They left my home in immaculate condition and made sure all the furry critters were happy and settled. So, I can only recommend you all tomexchange with Annie If the get the chance, she’s a great exchanger and a very experienced traveller. I cant wait till I can start planning my trip to her home in The Adirondacks and I hope we get to meet IRL eventually 🙏

I had a great pleasure of hosting Cheryl, Simon and their three sweet kiddos in August and they brought me some super lovely gifts - thank you very much for them <3 From our initial contact, communication was super easy and smooth as well as fun. We did a video call and I could tell straight away, that we'd be a good match ;-) Cheryl and family may be new to exchanging, but are experienced AirB'n'B'ers, so it was really easy to talk about expectiations and the hows and whats. During their visit, I stayed in my self-contained basement flat, but they were so kind both to invited me up for a BBQ dinner and we had chit chats along the way - super "hyggeligt" as we'd say in Denmark. It was a pleasure hosting this nice and charming family and I look very much forward to whenever I can come to their home in Torquay and meet them again. Their stay here was cut short a few days as their original return flight was cancelled, but cheryl made a brilliant save by getting a return flight from Billund, so the days they cut short here with me was well spent in Legoland and Lalandia, perfect for the kids! I'd be happy to welcome them here again anytime :-)

I saw Joulie had posted in the FB group that she was going on a non sim to Holland, so I reached out and asked if she would let me stay in her home non-sim while she was away and she said yes and was kind enough to let me bring me two doggies. Nærum is a place that I ddn't really know at all before staying there, but I must say I got such a lovely impression of the area. The apartment is sublime situation with only a short walk to the train staion and a bus stop right outside the apartment block. Grocery shopping is all with a km walk, as well as cafes and restaurants, which make is super easy and convenient. As I was having the dogs with me as well as being a happy runner, it was such a wonderful surprise to discover how close I was to tons and tons of great trails in nearby woods and parks. I spent hours walking walking with the dogs as well as running there, exploring the places, but still only scratched the surface, still much more to see and do. The famous Dyrehaven and Hermitage (Eremitageslottet) is only about 4-km away and you can even walk to Bakken, the oldest existing Amusement Park. The apartment is also only 3 km away from Skodsborg and the sea front, a place that also offers wellness and other good stuff. It is also a mere minutes drive from the free way, which was perfect for me as I was commuting to work most days. The apartment is nice and cosy, with a small balcony where I sat in the warm evenings I enjoyed there before the weather turn grey and windy. I had promised to water the plants, which was an easy task to do. The doggies and I enjoyed our stay there and had a great time exploring the different surroundings and I was pleased to getto know Nærum better, which is a great location for exploring both Copenhagen as well as the rest of Sealand :-)

It was great to finally be able to meet Mike and Majbritt IRL after we’ve been chatting during COVID times. I was happy to offer them hospitality during their visit in Denmark and thrilled when it all came together. Mike and Majbritt are as lovely in person as my impression was from our writing, very kind and easy going. They gave my furry critters lots of TLC when they were at home and we spent some some cosy hours chatting away about all kinds of topics - super hyggeligt as we’d say in Danish ☺️ They were a pleasure to have as guests, they took great care of my home and left everything super tidy and spotless - you wouldn’t think this was their first exchange, natural exchange talents 👌🏻☺️ I can’t wait till I get the chance to go to Vancouver and meet them again, explore the island and meet Erk 🐈 Have fun, enjoy the rest of your trip in Europe, happy exchanging - and don’t forget you’re always welcome back any time!

I was supposed to go on a non-sim exchange in Sweden between June 1st till 6th of June, but it had to be cancelled with notice due to illness in my exchangers family. As I was gonna have an American family coming to stay in my home, I decided to see if Lady Fortune would help me find another exchange in Sweden despite the short notice. so I reached out to a couple of Swedish PLU'ers that I had previously been in contact with and to my surprise and big luck Jennie replied with a positive response for their secondary home. Despite the fact that they had tenants moving out on May 31 and having to redecorate and move in new furnitures etc Jennie offered a bed and a roof over my head if I didn't mind they were working to prep the house. I was happy to say yes and said I'd wait a day to come so they had more time to work without me there. When I arrived on June 2nd, Jennie greeted me welcome at the house in Landskrona and as they had busted their butts off, the house was ready for me - a very impressive task and a splendid job done! It was so nice to meet Jennie as we've been chatting both via the FB group and through the site. Jennie is such a happy, smiling and positive person that went above and beyond to ensure that I had the best stay in their home. She had made some super yummy home made cookies that I munched on as soon as she had said good bye :-D She also brought me milk and fruit as a welcome treat, which was really sweet. I was also invited for dinner the following evening at their primary home, which is only about 9 km away and I was happy to accept. I had such a lovely and fun evening with the Lundins as I also met Johan (husband) and the two boys. I was really spoiled with a delicious dinner followed by dessert and we sat and chatted till late (sorry Jennie, I lost track of time). I had a blast in Landskrona and have to say I was blown away with my days here. It is just under two hours away from my home in Denmark and I honestly didn't really know anything about the place before getting there. I was very lucky with the weather while there so I made good use of the lovely patio sitting outside soaking up the sun, listening to music, rreading my book and enjoying a cold brew in the evenings after being out and about. I took a day trip to the wonderful and charming little island of Hven. I've been there before as you can also reach it from Copenhagen, but Landskrona is only a 30 mins trip over and with more departures than from DK. Last time I was there was 10 years ago (!) and I walked around the island (you can also rent bikes). So picturisque and charming and I thoroughly enjoyed my day there - be sure to allow enough time for stops to enjoy a crafts beer at the tiny little brewery, and to taste the local produced ice cream as well - yum!! Jennies home is perfectly located, very central and you can walk all over. I had brought my running shoes so did lots of exploring both while running as well as walking. There is only 2 km from Jennies home till the harbour where the ferry for Hven leaves so easy to walk to and not having to think about parking etc. Citadellet was lovely to visit and walk around and the beach is only about 1-1.5 km away. Kustleden (coastal path) runs from the harbourr and all the way up along the coast line offering (child friendly) beaches, benches, play grounds, small boats harbours, beautiful scenery, views across the water both to Hven as well as Denmark and and and... If you're golfer, there also a big golfcourse about 3 km away from the house! I had such an amazing stay here and only wish I could have stayed longer! I've already begged Jennie to let me come back again, even just for a weekend over the Summer ;-) This was such a wonderful (non sim) swap and I can't wait to welcome them in my home whenever that works out. Thank you for your kindness Jennie and willingness to let me come stay despite being under pressure to make the house ready <3

It was great to FINALLY be able to welome Shana and family in my home after COVID postponed their stay for two years! Due to their late arrival and my early departure to another exchange the next morning, we didn't have time to much else than a meet and greet, but we stayed in touch during their stay. They took care of my cats while away and when I came back from my exchange in Sweden I found a lovely and generous gift from them, that I look very much forward to taste and enjoy - thank you so much Shana and family :-) As this was a non-sim exchange I can now look forward to visit Houston at some point in the future, which will be a great experience! I hope you guys have a blast travelling and exploring Europe!

Wow! I barely know where to begin describing my exchange in Orkney in Lawrence and Irenes wonderful home. I have been dreaming about going there for ages, so was over the moon when Irene said yes, I could come this Easter. Originally the plan was a week in their Orkney home and then 5 days in their Embo home. But as you know sometimes the best laid plans... Irenes husband tested posiive for COVID and needed to be in isolation so we ended up is was better to spend all the days in Orkney. And the be honest I wasn't upset at all, on the contrary as 10 full days in Orkney gave a a good taste of the islands, but still with lots to see and do. As car rental prices had gone through the roof, Irene offered I could use their car and just pay the added driver insurance, which was way cheaper and I really appreciated the thoughtfulness of this gesture. In planning my trip to Orknay, Irene was literally a fountain of knowledge and great advices, which I benefitted from big time. On my way to Orkney, I took the bus from Edinburgh, where I had one night and the pleasure of meeting another Danish exchange couple from Denmark, that I have exchanged as a staycation swap. I had a nights pt stop in Embo at Irenes home and was so happy to finally meet Irene, lawrence and their adorable pooch Nell! They cooked me dinner and we just chit chatted all night, really lovely. Orkney Islands.... what can I say to do this place justice... Orkeny was everything I ever dreamed they would be - and then some! Wild beautiful nature, with stunning cliffs, moores, wild sea, lochs, little charming villages, kind people, green fields, lots of sheep and lambs, ancient history dating back to neothilic time as well as norse influence. And don't get me started about their craft beers!!! I stayed in the area of Twatt (yes, you read correctly) so more or less in the middle of the two local Breweries, so of course visited them both and bought a selection of beers from each place - YUMMY! Orkney itself also is home to the well know Distillery Highland Park - due to COVID closed for walk ins, so missed that. I'm not keen on Whisky, so not a big deal, gin however... I visited two of the islands three gin distilleries, who happend to have free tasting! I left with a bottle from each place... Of my 10 days in Orkney I had one stay at home day, the rest was spent out and about exploring this amazing place. I visited three of the other islands. I flew in a small 8 seater from Kirkwall to Papa Westray, just called Papay. I started out with rain and freezing cold wind, but luckily the rain stopped later as I spent 7 hours walking all over the place before I took the worlds shortest schedules flight to the next island over - Westray. I stayed the night at the Barn, a lovely hostel/B&B place with super lovely hostess Teenie. -Can def recommend this place it you go to Westray (which you should def do!). The next day I was blessed with fantastic weather, perfect for my planned hiking along the coaastal path up to The Noup Lighthouse and by the stunning Grobust Beach on the return. I could easily have spent another day at Westray, so if you go allow yourself two days there to enjoy all the beautiful scenery that Westray has to offer. Then I flew back to Kirkwall and picked up my car at the airport. Flying inter island was cheaper than I had thought, these three flights were only £ 72 and parking the car for two days were £6! Last Island I visited was Hoy. I had planned to do a approx 20 km circular walk from the ferry, up the Cuilag, on to St. Johns Head and Old Man of Hoy, to Rackwick and then through the valley back to the ferry at Moanness. I had another full day of sun and I had uch a blast doing this walk, the scenery just stunning. Through all of my stay I kept in touch with Irene, who would offer so many great ideas og good advice, helping me to make the most of my visit and stay. I had a BLAST and loved every minute of my stay. It was super nice when returning from a day out to just hang out and relax in the rustic and very charming home. The driveway was filled with blooming daffodils greeting me every day. The house has all one could need and I instantly felt at home. Due to unforseen I spend the last night in Embo on my own and then drove the car to Stirling and handed it over to Lawrence before heading to Edinburgh for one last night before flying back home. If you not already have Orkney on your bucket list, you really should add them!!!!! Thank you Lawrence and Irene for making this possible for me and all of your help, I absolutely LOVED it and I'll def be bugging you guys to let me come back in a not too distant future ;-) I can't wait till I get the chance to welcome you in Denamark <3

This morning I unfortunately had to say good bye to Nathalie and Benoit. I say unfortunately, because they have been such a delight to host and I'm sorry they have to leave already. They were supposed to come stay last year, but we had to postpone due to COVID, but this year the exchange could take place. Communication with Nathalie has been great from the first moment and we quickly sorted out details etc regarding the exchange, which has been hospitality . I can't wait for the calendars work out, so I can go the other way and go stay with them in Brussels :-) Nathalie and Benoit are super sweet and easy going people and it was a pleasure to chat with them as well as the couple of times we got to hang out. They have taken excellent care of my pets while at the house and especially the cats are gonna miss all the love and spoiling they been showered with during the stay ;-) They have also taken great care of my home and everything around them have been easy and smooth. I can give them my best recommendations and only urge everyone to exchange with them. Meeting people like Nathalie and Benoit is one of the many reasons I LOVE PLU! Au revoir <3

Originally I was supposed to have exchanged with a family in Egypt over Easter, but that had to be cancelled ofcourse due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. So I decided to see if I could be fortunate enough to find a local exchange and explore my own pond. I was hoping to be able to bring my doggie, so did a search for listings saying pets are welcome. The listing of Kirsten and Hans came up, I reached out and to my big thrill they upwere for a swap. They couldn't exchange for as many days as me, but generously offered that I could stay on the extra couple of days. So the dog (Cleo) and I took the 5 hours drive to Trans Ferieby, arrived late in the evening so it was pitch black dark, but I managed to find the right house, the key code box and settled in. The next morning I woke up to a great view, with the beach only a stones throw away. The Summerhouse is super nice and cosy, with beds for 6 people, but I only needed one spot. The kitchen has all you need to cook all meals home if you want, a nice big dinner table with a view towards the beach. When it is warmer the outside patio will no doubt be a perfetct spot to enjoy a drink, a meal, the beautiful sunsets and great company :-) Cleo and I went for many lovely walks and runs in the nearby area, exercising as well as exploring. We also drove out to the nearby surroundings like Lemvig, Harboøre, Thyborøn and Ringkøbing. Museums, cafées etc were still closed due to COVID-19 restrictions, but I still enjoyed walking around. Plenty of walks along the beach including seeing some of the many bunkers built and used during WW2. If you go to Lemvig, the weather is nice and you have fine time, you should walk the "Planet path", which is 13 km - one way! Vesterhavet offers kilometres of endless sandy beaches and there is plenty to see and do to keep one entertained for days. As the weather was pretty chill, windy and a bit wet I really enjoyed to stay indoor, having the wood burner going, reading a book sipping coffee. At this place I could really pull the plug and I LOVED it! <3 I learned that the gas stations are few and far in between, the nearest one I found was 12-15 min drive away. There is a little grocery shop about 3 km away or you can shop big in Lemvig. But as long as you have a car you can easily get around. I feel so lucky and priviliged that I got to go here - so a big huge thank you to Kirsten and Hans! And thank you for the lovely gifts that were waiting for me when I arrived back home :-) We were in contact along the way to make sure everything was ok and shared pictures etc from the places we went etc. which was really nice :-) I can highly recommend to exchange with Kirsten and Hans, you 'll love the location and Kirsten was super easy to communicate with and we sorted out details and stuff swift and smooth.

I was looking for a local exchange with short notice where I could bring my doggies and to my good fortune, Birgitte and Jakob were Open to an exchange when I reached out 😊 We settled the formalities really quick and easy and the agreement was four days and that we’d keep it simple. All aspects of communication was super easy and smooth. I spend some great days days in Jakob and Birgittes lovely home. They have a big, bright and spacious home with all the amenities you could ask for. They also have a BIG garden with terrace, which I in Summer time would have used plenty. The dogs loved the big garden to play around in in the lovely weather we enjoyed. They had also left me welcoming treats of different kind, which was super sweet of them. Jakob works for a coffee and tea company so it was a Heaven to try out the different flavours. The location of their home is brilliant, just 3 km outside the city centre so easy to walk or bike in If you want to. They had kindly left a bike for me to use while there. I arrived Saturday late afternoon and after settling in I went out to get aquinted with the neighbourhood. Sunday I went to Silkeborg to visit another PLU couple whom I had exchanged with in September, but we didnt have the oppertunity to meet then. I spent such a lovely afternoon with Annemette and Ole, a really fun and lovely couple. I didn’t get to do no near all the things I had hoped to while In Randers, so I hope to return to explore more. Randers and surroundings have so much to offer. I went for a long walk with one of the dogs from Randers Rainforest along Gudenå and then back again in a loop. Beautiful scenery and highly recomendable. Overall it was a great exchange, a big thanks to Birgitte and Jakob for being up for swapping 🤗

I had the great pleasure of exchanging with Ole and Annemette for a long weekend early September. We connected via the Facebook community and it didn’t take us long to agree on an exchange and the details were sorted over a lovely phone conversation :) I went to Silkeborg Thursday evening and arrived a bit late. But the house was easy to find, and easy to get into as we had exchanged photons with keys/lock situation. I was working “”from home” Friday but afterwards I took advantage of the dry weather and went to Himmelbjerget and walked around there. From there I went to Slåensø (Lake) and walked around it on recommendation from Annemette. The rest o the evening was spent with my feet up and chillaxing. Saturday started put with loads of rain and I took it as sign that Imshould stay home and do as little as possible, which I was really succesfull in accomplishing. Ole had left me some of his home brewed beers to try and that was a real treat, yum! Annemette had also left me some homebaked ryebread and a fragilité cake, both which was delicious! Their home was super nice, very big and spacious, especially as I was on my own. I loved the kitchen with the red touch and all the funny details. The House itself offered great treasure hunting discovering the things they had brought home from their travels. I also loved the bowler hat lamp shades! I loved their “library”, it turned put that Annemette is a big book lover like myself. Sunday I was participation in a Virtual Run Challenge and Ole had recommended a Trail around Bølling Lake, so I did that one. As I was focused on looking for the signs of the Trail I didnt see all the great Stuff Round the Lake, somnext time I’m gonna come back and walk the 12 km around the Lake and take it all in. Lots of archeological founds have been made there back to the earliest hunters, so very old indeed. The scenery around the Lake is beautiful too so this is one not to miss!! We had agreed to keep things simple so no big through cleaning before or after, just basic stuff. I really had some lovely days in Silkeborg even If I didnt get out and about much due to rain, but It was super nice to be able to relax as well - I needed that too. When I got home everything was in great order and the kitties had been pampered well. Annemette had also left me a card along with a beautiful homemade present, that I look forward to “break in”. That was such a Sweet thought :) Overall, it was a brilliant weekend, an excellent exchange and Ole and Annemette were great exchangers. Everything about this was smooth and positive and Silkeborg has so much to offer so don’t hesitate to go there!

I just spent such a lovely weekend in Dorte and Peters gorgeous home. The apartment is beautiful with lots of art and a view to die for. I barely wanted to leave the apartment to go explore! The night I arrived I just sat on the balcony and enjoyed the fantastic Danish Summer evening, the stunning view over the harbour while sipping a glass of wine along with the great treats they had left for me upon arrival <3 The next day was pretty much the same picture except I sipped coffee instead of wine from the morning. There are two balconies, so started out in the smaller one enjoyed the morning sun and then later switched to the larger for lunch. I did convince myself to get out and wander around the harbour area, a great place full of life and happy people. Walked around some more to check out some of the great spots nearby, there are so many little gems just around the corner, all easy reached either by foot or bicycle. Shopping is close by as well so everything is super convenient. Sunday morning I was participating in a Virtual Race and the nearby Nørreskoven was perfect for that and is also great for walks plus they have the "Gorilla Park" (zip lining). Dorte had even been so kind to leave me a map with a suggestion for a scenic route. All in all I had an amazing weekend in Vejle, just not enough time to see and do all the stuff I wanted - I'd def need a full week or more for that! And it is impossible not to be blown away by Dorte and Peters stunning home, the amazing view and perfect location. I had the great pleasure of meeting Dorte and Peter as they arrived at my home before I took off and we exchanged keys and had a chat. They are such a lovely couple, super easy going and a pleasure to communicate with. The exchange was settled pretty quick as well all the details regarding it. They had agreed to look after both kitties and doggies and no doubt the critters had gotten plenty of love and attention during the weekend :-) I can only strongly encourage others to exchange with Dorte and Peter - you'll love it there and they are a delight to swap with - I'll be back there in a heart beat if I can convince them to swap again ;-)

Freya and family were excellent guests and everything regarding the exchange went nice and smooth. I had the pleasure of meeting them briefly at Hillerød Station when they came by train from Århus. So nice to meet and great even for a brief moment. I gave them the Keys for the House and car and then said goodbye. They were brilliant guests, took great take of everything and left the house in perfect State - not to forget the girls who showered my pets with love and attention ❤️ Excellent exchange partners, dont hesitate to swap with these guys!

If you ever consider to exchange to Århus (and you really should) then Freya and Chris’ home is perfect! Århus is the second largest city in Denmark with so much to offer and actually have a fantastic combination of city and water as it is a harbour city. Originally we were supposed to swap end of March, but Corona put a stop to that. However, we managed to re-arrange the exchange to Pentecost giving us a long weekend. And what a weekend that was. The weather Gods treated us with perfect sunny weather to explore and enjoy the treasures of Århus. Their home is situated in Trojborg area, which only about 30 mins walk from the city centre. Across the road from their home is Risskov (forest area), which is perfect for lovely walks, running or short cutting to the water with little beach areas and paths into the city centre. We walked all over with their home as a perfect base and explored the city centre with its sights, enjoyed a lovely lunch by the canal running through town, chilled by the harbour side and just breathed, relaxed and made the most of it. We also went to explore the Old City, which was a great experience, can highly recommend that and walked through the Botanical Garden on our way there. We chilled at a beach site around “Den Permante” and enjoyed the gorgeous weather. Freyas and Chris’ home is lovely, a house in 3 levels. It has all the amenities you can ask for and is super charming and cosy. They had kindly left a welcome treat with a bottle of wine and other things, which was really sweet 😊 Communication with Freya was super from the very first chat and all planning and details went smooth from beginning to end. We exchanged little messages during the stay and it was great to know that they were having a good time and spoiling my furry buddies at home. Overall, we had a fabulous weekend that just flew by and I can highly recommend swapping with Freya and Chris. I know for certain that I’m be happy to repeat this exchange anytime 🤗

Last Fall I had the pleasure of hosting the Sterns from the US. From my home they went on to an exchange with Karolina in Gdansk, an exchange they were really happy about :-) So when I shortly after saw that Karolina offered her home for a non-sim swap, I reached out and within no time we had organized for me to come for a long weekend with my dad (took him for his Birthday). Communicating with Karolina was super easy and smooth, always quick repsonses and happy to answer whatever questions I had, even upon the day of arrival where we ran into a bit challenge when the key box wouldn't open. I contacted Karolina and within 25 mins she had someone come over with a spare key :-) My dad an I had a lovely weekend in Gdansk, such a lovely town even in Winter time. The wether was decent while we were there so we spent hours walking around the town, making pit stops at different cafés here and there. We also visitted the WW2 museum and spent some hours there without even seeing it all, def well worth a visit. It is really cheap to (grocery) shop in Poland so a little will get you far. Karolinas apartment was super nice and cosy, with everything we needed for our stay. Just by the apartment buildings are little shops like pharmacy, bakery, take away etc. and there is a Carrefour (grocery shopping) about 10 mins walk away - super nice and easy. We had the pleasure of Pepsi the cat, who was super low maintenance as he preferred to stick to himself during out stay. Over all I can only give my best recommendations to exchanging with Karolina and I'm hoping to return to Gdansk in Summer time where I'm sure the town and surroundings will be a brilliant place to visit and one can fully enjoy what it has to offer :-)

From our very first communication everything was super easy. Joanne is a delight to communicate with, she’s a quick responder and ever so helpful with whatever questions I might have. Joanne and family took excellent care of both my house and the kitties and I came home to a house in tip top order, such a pleasure after a long day of travelling. This was my first organized PLU swap and I’d be happy to exchange with this family anytime again 🙉😊

This was my first settled exchange on PLU and as it was settled in the early months of 2019 we had to wait a bit as we completed the swap at New Years. Joanne was super easy to communicate with from the first message and the exchange details were sorted fast an easy. Joanne was a treasure box of knowldege, ideas and inspiration and very helpful in solving whatever question I threw at her :-) Joanne and I had coordinated the flights so we came and went with each others departures. Getting to Ramsbottom with public transport was really easy - the tram from the airport to Manchester Central, then change to another tram to Bury and from here a 15 min busride to Holcombe and their home is literally around the corner from the bus stop (took about 2 hours altogheter). I'd never been to that neck of the woods in England so was pretty excited about going. Ramsbottom is a small English village, but so full of charm (and hills). I loved walking to the shops in town (about a miles walk) and just have a peek and trying out some of the pubs. The Brewey is highly recommendable, super charming, great beers and very friendly people and a place that allows dogs inside. The house was really nice, clean and tidy - I loved the rocking horse they had, so charming. The family had left a tray for me at arrival with different kind of treat as well as meal waiting in the fridge so I didn't have to go out shopping on my first night, which was a really lovely gesture. The kitchen was well equipped with everything I needed and it was easy to work out how to use the appliances. The only thing that gave me a bit of a tease was working out the shower, but I kinda expected that as this is always different from the Danish way. There is so many thigs to see and do around Ramsbottom and it you like hiking you can def add plenty of miles to your shoes. Walking up to Peel Tower is a must, the view from up there is stunning and there are plenty of hiking routes around. I went out for runs which gave me plenty of exercise as the area is pretty hilly. Redisher Wood nearby was another lovely place to run/walk. I never got around to rent a car and venture out to explore. I used public transport both when going into Manchester, which as a lovely experience as well as Bury. Otherwise I walked all over the place. A week was no where near enough to explore and enjoy all that Ramsbottom and surroundings had to offer so I'm keen on coming back at some point. I can highly recommend going to Ramsbottom, it is such a lovely place, the house is great and has all you need. Joanne and family are great exchange partners. Everything went smooth and easy, communication perfect and we kept in touch almost daily during the exchange. They also feed and took care of my cats during the exchange (the dogs were boarded). So guys, go ahead and jump at the option of swapping with these guys - they will also leave your home in a perfect state :-)

I've just returned from an amazing long weekend exchange (non-sim) with Thorgerdur (Gerda). This exchange was organized somewhat spontaniously as I wrote and asked Gerda with about 5 weeks notice if she's like to swap. Luckily she was up for it witgh me and two friends going this past weekend and she+ family will come to my place next Summer. Communication with Gerda has been nice and easy from the very first contact and details were settled smoothly. We also had access to Gerdas car, which was great help as getting around Iceland is hard without wheels. All arrangements worked according to plan with finding the car, keys and apartment. From the airport (landed midday) we went straight to the Blue Lagoon. Though it is somewaht of a tourist trap, it is also a place that you NEED to visit - so well worth it :-) We were lucky that even though there were lots of people there, it never seemed crowded and there was plenty of space and no waiting more than a minute at either the pool bar or for the masks etc. We ended up spending the whole day there, hours in the water and enjoying the facilities and then we had dinner at the Lava Restaurant. Saturday was spent exploring the capitol. Reykjavik is small and charming and we walked all over the place - highly recommended. Sunday parking is free which was lucky as we left our car centrally parked for our booked "Grand Golden Circle Tour" with visits to Kerid Crater, Gullfoss, the Geysirs and Tingvellir making the most out of the limited day light hours. Gerdas home is super cosy and a lovely apartment with all amenities. The apartment is situated outside the city center so a car is recommend to get around. We had a lovely stay overall both out and about, but surely also at home in Gerdas nice apartment. For all of you outhere looking for a swap to Iceland, this is def a good place and Gerda is a superb exchange partner :-D Gerda, I look forward to see you in Denmark next Summer. :-) Driving in

Scott, Leah and the kids came and stayed with me only for a few day in October 2019 - but I wished they could have stayed longer! The Sterns are such a lovely couple with two adorable kids <3 We had such a good time and I really enjoyed spending time with them when I got home from work. I stayed in my basement apartment, but they were so kind to invite me for dinner and wine. Scott were looking a jobs in Denmark and I was really hoping he'd be succesfull so they would stick around :-) That didn't work out though, so I'll have to wait and see them when I can finally go to California to visit them at some point in the future. In the mean time we keep in touch, the kids are growing up sooo fast! But I can only give them me highest recommendations as exchangers and well as being a wonderful family.

I hosted Dave and Sheree for a little weeks time, but I wish they could have stayed longer! They are such a sweet, nice and funny couple and we had a great time. Normally I stay downstairs in my self-contained basement apartment when I host, but truth to be told I spent hours upstairs with Dave and Sheree when I came home from work as they would invite me to come hang out with them. We could sit and talk for hours about eveything and nothing, it was such a pleasure and good fun. Dave is also super helpful and basicallt told me to work out my dates to come to Australia and he'd help me plan my entire trip - he's an ocean of knowledge! He actually did exactly that! I was supposed to go Down Under October 2020, but due to COVED-19.... :-( However, he/we had planned a camping trip to Fraser Island and other great activities during my stay with them in QLD. We still keep in touch regularly and I just know that when I can finally start planning a new trip to OZ Dave will be ready to pick up the planning torch and make sure that I have a blast while there. I just have to say that ever you EVER get the oppertunity to swap with these lovely people, then dont hesitate - they are awesome guests as well as exchangers! Don't forget you have to take me for a spin in one of those stunt cars you drive Dave - I haven't forgotten about that ;-)

I had the pleasure of hosting Kim and family for a couple of days while they were in Denmark. I was away on another exchange at the time, but communication with Kim was smooth and easy despite me being far away. They took great care of my home and kitties and left the house spotless. so don't hesitate to swap with Kim and family :-)

I’ve been really lucky to exchange to Vancouver Island(Parksville) but I also wanted to visit the West coast of the island (Tofino and Ucluelet). I know from previous attempt to reach out that luck wasn’t gonna be on my side, but decided to try again. I found Julies listing in Ucluelet and sent her a message asking If she’d be interested in either a non-sim exchange or hospitality for a few days. To my absolute thrilled Julie replied positively back that she could host me for a couple of days -Yay! From our very first contact, Julie has been a pleasure to communicate with, being very Open and helpful. As I on my arrival day was doing a full day boat trip and therefore I arrived pretty late in Ucluelet, it Julie was up waiting for me and bid me welcome and show me to my room. As the cabin in the listing was occupied at this time they let me stay in their own home (same properly). I’m so grateful for Julie and husband to open their home to me as finding accomodation in high season is next to impossible. And not only did they welcome me, they really spoiled me big time, making me coffee in the morning and left me plates with dinner in the evenings - totally yummy food 🤗 Julie was also a well of knowledge about what to see and do around Ucluelet. Their home is perfectly located within easy walking distance of the popular Light House Trail and another short walk into town. I never used my car the time I was there except for arriving and departing, but walked everywhere. Ucluelet is a wonderful little corner with so much charm and plenty tons to see and do for its small size. Well worth spending time to check out the locsl artists work, most of it is really amazing and I had the good fortune to attend an Art Show meeting one of the local artist while there. I would have loved to stay longer here and with Julie and Steve (did actually offer that they could adopt me... 🤪). Thank you Julie and Steve for hosting me and making my stay so perfect! As I was your first exchange experience, I hope I didnt scare you of from doing it again 😜

I had the great pleasure of hosting Jen, Zach, Nellie, Abbie and Merrick for about 5 week between April and June. From the very first time we had contact, communication was brilliant. It took a bit but eventually we did managed to get dates to work out so they could come here the first place - I will go to Idaho at some point in the not too far future (I hope)! Time really flew by while they were here and we had great fun together. They were a great help in taking care of the doggies and kitties, wonderful to have people staying that are animal lovers too <3 I'm so glad it worked out for them to come and I honestly believe I made new, but life long friends, sharing talks, laughs, last season of Game of Thrones, wine, food and lots more. I can only say that if you get the chance to exchange with this lovely family then jump at the opportunity. I cannot wait to see them again once I head out to Rigby and all the great stuff that you can see and do with their home as a base. Loved having you here Hansens and dont forget you're always welcome back any time :-)
