General overview

The perfect central base for all of your Pacific Northwest explorations, our home is located in a quiet, safe, friendly community and an easy, approx. half-hour drive to Portland, with all of its shopping, nightlife, art and cultural opportunities. We are also at the gateway to Oregon wine country, famous for its Pinot Noir and home to dozens of wineries. A 1.5-hour drive southwest brings you to the beach with its gorgeous coastline, kite shops and quaint restaurants, while a 1-hour drive east takes you to the ski slopes of Mt. Hood or the waterfalls of the Columbia Gorge. Take a morning walk to our small town coffeehouse, or try one of several charming restaurants and wine shops. Bring the kids to the public library (and the donut shop next door). On a sunny day, dip your toes into the water fountain or enjoy one of several neighborhood parks and playgrounds. On the outskirts of town, you’ll find all the bigger shopping and essentials you need.
The space
Ours is a comfortable 4 bedroom, 2.5 bath home with a large great room and dining table that seats 6 (and we have extra folding chairs if you need more). The front living room is smaller but has a sofa, recliner and TV with Playstation. The great room features large picture windows and has a sofa and loveseat, side chair and TV with Xbox and Netflix, Amazon Prime and more.
Upstairs you'll find 4 bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and en suite bathroom with an updated tiled tub/shower combo. There is another full bath with tub for kids. The guest bedroom has a full size bed. If needed, our kids' rooms offer an additional full bed and twin bed.
A washer and dryer are available for your use, with laundry soap and dryer sheets provided.
We have a large outdoor patio with plenty of seating including a fire pit table, plus a grassy backyard perfect for playing or relaxing with a glass of local wine or one of Portland's famous microbrews.
We may have an above ground pool set up during the summer, as seen in photos. We also just added an inflatable hot tub that's surprisingly relaxing and perfect for grown-ups to unwind at the end of the day.
Guest access
Minimal entry steps to front door. Two on walkway and one into the house. There is one flight of stairs to the second level and all of the bedrooms. Three steps out the back sliding door take you to the patio.
Notes
We do have two cats and one older kitten that are indoors only. They are easy maintenance but we will ask that you give them food and water and are careful to keep them inside the home.
We also have a dog (mellow 3 year old black lab) that we may like to bring with us on our travels but if we can’t then she can stay with family or at a boarding home.
Your dog may be welcome if safe with our cats and not left alone in the home unless in a crate or kennel. We can discuss. I know it is wonderful to be able to bring them on trips!

Neighbourhood
Our neighborhood is quiet, with a mix of older families and also those with young kids, and is very friendly and welcoming. We are located in the town of Sherwood, a small but growing community.
Getting to my home
We are a 40-minute drive (traffic permitting) from Portland International Airport. From downtown Portland we are about a 20-minute drive.

Getting around
While you can walk to a few places, a car will be needed for everything else. We may have one available for your use.
