General overview
Our beautiful family home is filled with joy which is so easily felt the minute you step through the front door. We are incredibly lucky to live in a small and highly safe guarded estate which is situated in a Nature Reserve that is 10 minutes from the Centre of Hilton. Our home has 3 large bedrooms each with en-suite bathrooms, an office/ study, a lounge, kiddies fun-filled playroom, enormous wrap around patio that has a dining area, relaxed lounge, bar and outdoor fireplace. The state of the art, modern kitchen, pantry and scullery were all renovated in November/December 2022 along with the children’s bedroom and bathroom. We are continuing with renovations this year as we build a separate- access apartment above the garage, gym and storeroom. The large garden has incredible views over the valley and is the most perfect spot you will ever find a for a sunset drink. The kitchen and open plan living room have a homely farm-style design but all the modern conveniences you need! In the garage you will find a variety of bikes, sporting equipment, golf clubs etc for every age and level to ride on!
The space
We have 3 bedrooms:
1x Kingsize , extra length bed with en suite bath and shower
1x children’s bedroom with a bunk bed that are two singles with full bathroom.
1x Queen size bedroom with en suite bath and shower.
We have an additional two single beds that can be set up in the spacious study/ office if needed.
We have a brand new state of the art kitchen. A separate scullery with washer, dryer, dishwasher.
A mudroom to store sports equipment.
A large living area with smart tv with access to Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon prime, Disney plus.
A separate children’s playroom stocked full of games and toys and books.
A large, sunny outdoor patio with BBQ.
A shared pool, cricket net and basket ball court a few minutes walk.
Tennis courts, squash court, full gym, running circuit, mountain biking trails within a 4 minute drive or 1km walk.
Guest access
No stairs in the house.
Access via the front door, the frameless glass patio doors and double automated garage
Notes
We have a cleaner on a daily basis and a gardener once a week. If you would prefer to only have the cleaner once a week that can be arranged. Either way, she is a full-time employee and we will cover her salary.

Neighbourhood
Hilton is the gateway to the beautiful Midlands Meander. Our home is 10 minutes car drive to the Centre of the village which has numerous coffee shops, restaurants and grocery shops.
The Meander extends from Hilton to just before the majestic Drakensberg Mountain Range. Along the way, you can experience culinary delights in Nottingham Road, canopy tours at the Karkloof Reserve, hiking, spa’s and many other unique experiences!
Our home is set inside a 1700 ha nature reserve with incredible bird and wildlife. You can hike, mountain bike, trail run from our front door.
There are 3 swimming pools (including a heated 50m pool), tennis courts, squash courts, hockey Astro and a gym. We have all the sporting equipment you will need so no need to bring anything with you!
Our home is contemporary farmhouse and has every modern convenience at your fingertips, including an abundance of toys and kiddies bikes and scooters.
Hilton is only 60 minutes from Durban and the East Coast beaches of South Africa and 2 hours from the Drakensberg Mountains.
The nearest Big Five Safari Park is 2.5 hours from our door.

Getting to my home
The closest airport is in Pietermaritzburg which is a 25 minute drive. You will need a car in South Africa as there is no reliable public transport here.
We could possibly assist with a car depending on the details of the exchange.
King Shaka Airport near Durban is 2 hours away or Johannesburg is a 4 hour drive from us if you would prefer a road trip.
Getting around
Ther is no reliable public transport so we strongly suggest hiring or borrowing a car.

We are an active, adventure-loving family of four- my husband and I adore the mountains and the sea, our little boy of 8 loves anything to do with bikes and balls and our 5 year old daughter enjoys every adventure. We want to introduce our children to the world- people, cultures, scenery, experiences- that can enrich their lives and fill their memory banks.
We live in the exquisite region of the Midlands in South Africa. Both my husband and I travelled extensively and lived overseas (Canada, UK, Dubai, Grand Cayman and Argentina) for many years before settling down and having children. Rowan runs an engineering business and I am a marketing professional. We chose the town of Hilton as it is the gateway to the Midlands and is a beautiful little village, very family friendly and surrounded by forests and nature. We are also only 1-2 hours from all the beaches (warm seas all year round), 2 hours from some of the best safari parks (Big 5 Game viewing) and 2 hours from our majestic Drakensberg mountain range. We have a holiday home in one of the most unspoilt beach towns along the KZN coastline called Southbroom and we would be happy for you to use it whilst you visit SA.
We cannot wait to pass on the gift of travel to our children and we look forward to seeing them experience new countries and immerse themselves in new cultures!
