General overview

Our house was completely renovated in 2015, so it is now a very comfortable place to live - with a modern kitchen, a wet room, underfloor heating in the bathrooms, a lovely courtyard garden, and a spacious shed containing bikes, surf boards, body boards and a kayak . The best bit about our house is the beach - cross the road, go over the dunes, and there you are. Miles of golden sand !

The space

The house is accessed through a pretty front garden. On the ground floor there is a sitting room with three very comfortable sofas, a woodturning stove, some games and a lot of books. There is a small hall with an cupboard for boots and coats - and we leave some wet weather gear and umbrellas for guests to use. There is a wet room with a rainfall shower and underfloor heating. There is a well equipped kitchen, and a utility/pantry off the kitchen containing the fridge/freezer and the washing machine- the kitchen has a table that can seat eight and a sunny area with a sofa - made for lying on to read a book !for Upstairs there is a bedroom with a king bed and a bathroom with a bath.

Guest access

There are two floors, and a steep staircase up to the first floor - the house is in the old part of Nairn and is called Fishertown. The houses here are mainly old fishermen's cottages, though ours is slightly bigger than the average cottage here.

Notes

A black cat called Flash is a frequent visitor - he belongs to our neighbour, but she got a puppy so he now comes to the house for some respite ! I have an allotment about a mile from the house - an easy walk, or a quick trip in the car - and would ideally like to swap with someone who could water the greenhouse and even do some weeding, and eat any produce that is ready to pick. I am more than happy to do the same at the swappers house --

Neighbourhood

Nairn is called ' Scotland's Highland Playground " - a relaxing and friendly seaside resort with three beautiful beaches, stunning scenery and two championship golf courses . Nairn is actually one of the driest and sunniest places in Scotland and an ideal base for walking, cycling, touring the Highlands, visiting the various distilleries and playing golf. Located on the Moray Firth Nairn is a wildlife haven, including dolphins, minke whales, seals and some remarkable birdlife.

Getting to my home

Nairn is only ten minutes from Inverness Airport, and a bus runs from the airport to Nairn. There is a train station which is about 15 minutes walk from the house. There are easyJet and British Airways flights from both Gatwick and Heathrow, and from many other destinations. There is a KLM direct flight to Amsterdam. There are train connections coming from Aberdeen and Inverness - with country wide connections.

Nearest airport

Inverness Airport is ten minutes away

Getting around

Guests can easily walk everywhere from the house - the shops are very near, as are the restaurants and pubs. We are happy to do a car swap - we have a manual VW Polo that seats four and is easy and comfortable to drive.
