General overview
A village house in the center of which is a small haven of peace
The space
Located at the end of a pedestrian cul-de-sac accessible by 6 steps, my house is somewhat atypical. When you enter, the first thing you will see in front of you through two large bay windows will be the patio. Then to your right, a kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare delicious meals. There is also a small laundry room.
On your left you will see the living room. In the living room, you can relax and spend a pleasant evening, warm, thanks to a mixed stove (pellets or wood logs).
On the first floor, there is a small bathroom, and just next to it, a bedroom.
You will have to go to the 2nd floor to find a large dressing room and another bedroom that I use as an office. but not as a guest room. Indeed, my little kitty Malou is wild and takes refuge in this room when there are people at home. Not wanting to disturb her more than that, I therefore don't want more than two people in exchange.
All rooms in the house have a view of the patio. It's certainly not very big, but you will find a small table there to enjoy your meals in the summer, in the cool.
The house has a reversible air conditioner that I use very little. As it is an old house with stone walls, it is nice there in summer.
Guest access
My house is not suitable for people with reduced mobility. In fact, to access the dead end you will have to take a small staircase of 6 steps. And the house is on two levels.
Notes
Canohès is a village at the gates of Perpignan (5 min by car), which is appreciated for its tranquility and its green spaces.
A few shops nearby (bakery, fruit and vegetables and butcher) will allow you to do some shopping. At the entrance to the village there is a large supermarket.
Surrounded by large natural spaces you can go jogging, walking, cycling, just a few minutes walk from the house.
Around Canohès you can go to Lake Villeneuve de la Raho to cool off and spend a pleasant evening come summer.
On Saturday morning you will be able to go to the Thuir Market (7kms), very well stocked, where you can enjoy good regional products.
Perpignan is the Capital of Roussillon, "City of Art and History" and "20th century Heritage", it will charm you with its authenticity.
In September, you can wander its streets and discover architectural treasures while visiting a major Photojournalism Festival, unique in the world "VISA pour l'Image".
Roussillon, a true mosaic of colors, flavors and scents, will only seduce you.
The Canigou, the vineyard-covered hillsides, the scrubland, the fishing ports and the soft sandy beaches will never cease to charm you.

A regular bus line connects Canohès to Perpignan

Chantal was a perfect guest. The communication with her was smooth and frequent, and she was very understanding even when there was a risk of cancellation due to covid (which luckily wasn't necessary). Chantal took great care of our apartment, watered our balcony plants every day and left the apartment spotless clean and in perfect condition, as if no one was ever there :) We met with Chantal briefly upon her arrival which was very nice. We would definitely recommend exchanging with Chantal and we wish Chantal many wonderful exchanges in future! :)

A solitary traveler, I take advantage of my travels to pursue my passion, which is photography and particularly so-called "street" photography. Photographers such as Ronis, Fred Herzog, Joel Meyerowitz, Harry Gruyaert, to name a few, are a source of inspiration for me.
