General overview

Two bedroom, 2.5 bath, Russian River Valley home in Sonoma’s wine country. Sit in the treetops on two balconies with Bay Laurel trees and hummingbirds. The Russian River is just below our neighborhood, with public beaches close by -- the closest beach is a five-minute drive! Ten minutes to Corbel champagne caves, 20 minutes to Healdsburg, one hour to the Golden Gate Bridge, 30 minutes to the coast (Jenner).

The space

This place is truly a "treehouse" -- from any place on the main level you look out on Bay Laurel trees, with Redwoods and fir-lined ridges beyond. I have a grill and places to sit and lounge on both balconies: one on the top floor and one off of the master bedroom. There is a queen bed in the master bedroom and a queen bed in the guest room. I also have an office/yoga room, which does not have a bed in it, but I do have a blow up mattress that can be used in that room. The wi-fi is good here; I work out of my home and need to have fast internet. I do not have cable television, but do have YouTube TV so you can watch network channels that way. This is a non-smoking house, and I am COVID vaccinated.

Guest access

The house is situated on a hill, with the living room and kitchen on the top (street) level and all of the bedrooms on the bottom floor. You must be able to navigate stairs to stay here. Parking is in a garage and on the street, with no steps to the front and garage doors.

Neighbourhood

This neighborhood is called Mirabel Heights, and it is on top of a hill overlooking the Russian River Valley. The neighborhood has lots of dogs and gardens, and people here are very friendly. You'll see people walking around and saying hello. "Downtown" Forestville is 5 minutes drive away, with several very good restaurants, a fantastic bakery, a couple places to get coffee or tea, a pharmacy, and a hardware store. There are trails and bike paths all around. For Russian River access, there are a number of places to rent kayaks, canoes, and paddle boards near by.

Getting to my home

I'm 15 minutes from the Charles Schultz Sonoma County Airport, so that is very convenient. Coming from San Francisco or Oakland, you would need to rent a car.

Nearest airport

I was born in Colorado, and have been living in Northern California for the last 15 years. When I was in fourth grade, my parents did a teacher's exchange with a family in Melbourne (Ringwood) and we went there for a year. Some of my best memories and friends were forged in that exchange. I finally have a house of my own to exchange, so I can't wait for the world to open back up! For work, I am a writer and communications specialist with a focus on climate change, green buildings, and sustainable living. I have a sweet Doodle named Rowan, who could be traveling with me if not overseas. I love hiking, gardening (particularly medicinal plants), and traveling! I love the Bay Area, and love living in the North Bay area.
