General overview

Situated on a very private high desert parcel, our home captures the best of Tucson living: traditional Southwest architecture completely remodeled and updated in a most contemporary style. The most compelling feature is the mountain and desert garden views from every room in the home. We have many beautiful cactus specimens resulting in guests feeling like they're staying in a private Southwest botanical garden.

The space

Soaring ceilings in the Great Room and Master Bedroom allow for casual indoor/outdoor living or sophisticated entertaining. The interior features three bedrooms, all with ensuite baths. Master bedroom has an adjustable Sleep Number King bed and a private adjoining patio. The second bedroom has a Queen "Heavenly" Bed with a courtyard view. Currently the third bedroom has a comfortable pull-out sofa, however plans are in the making to refurnish that room. There is also a powder room bringing the bathroom count to 3-1/2. Several exterior locations allow for pleasant outdoor seating and dining. Our media room boasts a 78" Sony OLED TV with Netflix, Apple TV, HBO, cable etc. and comfortable seating including two "Stressless" recliners. The Kitchen will delight the chef in the family: Double ovens, Induction stovetop, Advantium microwave oven, two dishwashers, Beverage drawer, wine refrigerator, 48" side-by-side fridge/freezer, and a fully stocked pantry with everything one needs to prepare a gourmet meal. Enjoy morning coffee on the south patio overlooking the garden; climb exterior stairs to the rooftop deck for sunset cocktails with 360 degree views of the city and surrounding Tucson mountain ranges; and dine on the north patio with stunning garden views in the foreground and towering Catalina Mountains as your backdrop. Our remodel started in 2021 and we'll continue to upgrade in terms of space, decor, and furnishings. Our photos represent only some of the updates, more photos will be posted as the interior and exterior design unfolds.

Guest access

Two small steps lead from foyer to Great Room; otherwise the home is all flat with no other elevation changes.

Neighbourhood

High above Tucson, our home is nestled at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains. We are surrounded by the natural beauty of lush desert, stately mesquite trees and majestic, towering saguaro cactus. Tucson boasts a delightfully high desert climate with summers of dry heat, comfortable winter days and year 'round cool evenings. Tucson is a growing metropolis of one million people, though it feels smaller. The city's geography is a postcard image of cactus forests, rolling hills, and rocky mountains. National and State parks and forests ring the city. Tucson lies in the borderland, a region that blends the cultures of the United States and Mexico, and has a long history of settlement by ancient Native American peoples, Spanish explorers, and Anglo frontiersmen. The weather is mild nearly all the time. Though our summers can be quite hot, the air is dry and evening temperatures are always pleasant. We welcome afternoon showers in late July through August , which can result in some of the most spectacular lightening displays viewed from our back porch. Don't miss the sunset photos ...our sunsets are a display of beauty! For a look at the beautiful nature in and around Tucson, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wF0PjH61tUQ&feature=youtu.be There are limitless ways to enjoy your stay: You are minutes away from upscale shopping and dining - or -visit one of our world famous attractions, the Sonoran Desert Museum (top 10 museums in the country as rated by Trip Advisor), Canyon Ranch and Miraval-Life in Balance Resort & Spa, San Xavier Mission, Old Tucson Western Movie Studios, Davis-Monthan "boneyard" with over 250 WW-II aircraft, Kartchner Caverans (make reservations early!) or the renowned International Gem & Mineral Show (February) - which is incredible! Tucson is a destination for golfers, hikers and cyclists: take your best shot on a challenging desert resort golf course, or enjoy a more traditional links-style course. Hike one of Tucson's many beautiful mountain trails, including Finger Rock Trail, and the beautiful Sabino Canyon - both 10 minutes away. Bird-watching is world renowned. The "Old Pueblo" is known as biker-friendly (both road & mountain biking) and hosts several annual bicyle tours. It's just a short drive to casinos, fine dining, shopping, art galleries, museums, Reid Park Zoo, performing arts and live college & professional sports. We belong to a great fitness gym and can arrange for you to use it. TRIATHELETE Magazine has recently declared Tucson as the #2 place to train in the U.S. Kartchner Caverns, Kitt Peak Observatory, Tombstone, Mount Lemmon, and the border town of Nogales, Mexico are all less than an hour away. Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona are less than a 2-hour drive from Tucson. Sedona, Petrified Forest, Painted Desert, Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon and of course, the GRAND CANYON, are all easily accessible by car. It would be easy for you to combine your stay with time in Southern California (San Diego is 6 hours by car) or other neighboring states, including the National Parks of southern Utah (Moab, Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park). Getting to my home

Interstate 10 winds right thru Tucson making it very accessible by car from most Western and Southwestern US states. When checking for flights: First try TUS (Tucson). Alternatively, PHX (Phoenix) is a 1.5-hour drive and sometimes provides a more economical international fare - but not always. We are always happy to help you plan your travels, just ask!
