General overview

Our home is a colorful, light-filled, 3 bedroom house in a quintessential New England college town. Our spot is perfect for all seasons - and a great base for exploring Western Massachusetts. You can do day trips or weekends to Boston, NYC or the Berkshires from here, but there is also a lot to explore right here in the Pioneer Valley. This town is full of arts, lectures and performances at Smith College, hikes and swimming holes, bike paths and abolitionist history as there are many homes that were on the underground railroad. It's also a great spot if you are looking at colleges in the area. We are in the middle of the 5 college area - close to Smith College (right in town), Amherst College, UMASS, Hampshire College, Mt Holyoke, Westfield State, Western New England College, Mass College of Liberal Arts The town center has a beautiful library, Smith College campus with a great botanical garden and art museum, loads of restaurants, coffee shops and live music venues. The area has countless opportunities to explore the beauty of New England - hikes, lakes, waterfalls, dinosaur footprints, a scenic bike path, mountains, etc. The foliage is especially stunning in the Fall - and the area has wonderful apple orchards, pumpkin patches, hayrides and farm-to-table restaurants. We are a 12 minute drive to a bus terminal and train station. Shuttles to the airport are easy to arrange. Bradley International airport is 40 minutes away. Boston's Logan airport is about an hour and 45 minutes away. There are so many day trips within driving distance - Boston, New York City, the Berkshires, Rhode Island, Hudson River Valley, Brattleboro Vermont, etc. The foliage season in the fall is particularly beautiful: https://www.visit-massachusetts.com/state/foliage/

The space

Our home is a peaceful, light-filled, 3 BR home in a quintessential New England college town. We are 12 minutes to Smith College and our very sweet downtown area. We are 10 minutes to Easthampton, another sweet New England town. There is a deck, a large, private backyard (& frontyard) and a large above ground pool. There is a living room, a dining area, kitchen, three bedrooms, an office and 2 bathrooms. We have a collection of table games and video games and there is a warm & cozy pellet stove in the living room. The deck has a charcoal grill and outdoor seating. It's a great spot in all seasons - the foliage is fabulous in the fall, the pellet stove and large windows are really cozy in the winter - and the deck, yard and pool are great in the summer. You will feel at home enjoying dinner in the cozy dining area, chatting with friends on the deck or curled up on the couch by the pellet stove in the living room. We have 2 queen beds, 1 full bed, and 2 twin air mattress. The queen beds are in the primary bedroom and the guest room on the first floor. Upstairs is a bedroom with a full bed and an office that we typically keep locked. We have a very sweet dog and cat -- but the dog will spend time at her friend's house when you come and will not be here. The cat is very easy, but wouldn't be a good fit if you have allergies. The house will be professionally cleaned before your visit. The kitchen has everything you'd need to cook with and we have many streaming channels.

Guest access

The house has three small steps to enter from the side door, four steps into the house from the front door and one step out from the deck. We do not have a ramp. We have recently become much more aware of physical accesibility and will try to do anything we can to be helpful around accessibility needs. Unfortunately, the washer and dryer are in the basement and that has a lot of stairs.

Notes

We can lend bicycles (3), ice skates and cross-country skis if the sizes we have fit you. We also can leave a seasons pass to a beautiful cross country ski center about 40 minutes away.
