General overview

We live in a beautiful home on three acres in a rural area, five minutes from Corvallis, home of Oregon State University. We have four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and our master bedroom has a jetted tub. We have a fully equipped kitchen with an island, and a laundry room with a washer and dryer. If you ever wanted to try making pizza in a wood fired oven here is your chance! Our Italian mason friend came for a visit from Lucca and built us an authentic "forno a legna". It's fun and easy to make delicious pizza.

Guest access

One floor ranch home, very accessible.

Notes

We are willing to negotiate a car exchange in reciprocal exchanges.

Neighbourhood

We live in a rural area, with houses on two to three acre lots, so houses are not close to each other. There are mostly couples whose children have grown up and moved away, so it's pretty quiet. Our neighbors are very nice people. Two of our neighbors have horses. We have parkland and a hill right behind our house, so we have miles of hiking and mountain biking trails right here. Out our front window is a view of the coast range and Marys Peak (4000 feet), which is a half hour away and also has beautiful trails to the top. We are one hour away from the ocean, and one to two hours from lakes, rivers, and mountains (with skiing). Ann & Joel

We are Ann and Joel. We are both retired. I was a middle school art teacher, and we owned a restaurant and bakery that Ann ran for thirty years. These were very satisfying jobs for both of us. We enjoy food and cooking, especially foods from other cultures. We like to travel, and have taken many trips with our five children, and now that they are all grown and out of the house, we can travel on our own. Ann's grandparents were from Spain and Italy, and we have enjoyed visiting cousins who live in those countries. We have a large garden that we enjoy. I expect to do more of my own art now that I'm not teaching. We like to travel and stay in one place to get to know the area well. We are experienced home exchangers and have been exchanging since 2012. We have done long term exchanges to Costa Rica (10 months) and Hawaii (4 months) and loved it! We volunteer in the local communities we travel to, teaching art and cooking. We like to hike, and be outdoors. We also love to experience the art and culture of new places. We live in a beautiful state with many great places to explore and enjoy sharing it with visitors. Here is a link to a fun video that our Costa Rican home exchange family made of Joel's outdoor art. https://youtu.be/KJpyPS0b9WA
