Neighbourhood

In the area are several restaurants within walking distance, two large supermarkets and other shops. The station is about 10 minutes by bike and takes you to the center of Amsterdam in 15 minutes. Abcoude is surrounded by nature, you can take beautiful walks and bike rides. There is also water for swimming or supping nearby.

Nearest airport

Schiphol is 15 minutes by car, 30 minutes by train.

Getting around

Shops: walking distance Restaurants: walking distance Bus station: walking distance Train: walk about 20 minutes, bike less than 10 minutes, car less than 5 minutes Amsterdam: the best way to go is by train or bicycle (parking in Amsterdam is expensive and difficult). You can park for free throughout Abcoude. Sometimes you need a blue card but not in our street.

We are a family of four: two boys aged 6 and 10. We live in Abcoude, a very cute and friendly town just 15 minutes from the center of Amsterdam. We used to live in Berlin, but are now back in the Netherlands for good(?). My husband is a green mobility consultant and I am a psychologist. Both children go to primary school. We think it is important to respect the environment and love being in nature. That is why we try to travel by train, bicycle or electric car and to use planes as little as possible. But... we love to travel so we do make exceptions. We have a garden with a trampoline, bicycles available if desired and plenty of games and toys.
