General overview
Our home is a large two story brick home, the only house on a lane surrounded by bush and bird life (yet still in town).
The space
With 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 lounge rooms and a huge deck there is plenty of space to spread out and relax. We have a bbq and fire pit outside in Winter. In Summer the bedrooms have fans and there is air-conditioning in the upstairs living area. The kitchen has everything you need to cook up a storm.
Guest access
There are two floors and no wheelchair access upstairs thought there is a separate toilet/bathroom and living area downstairs. Public transport is a train in town , one hour to Brisbane but the station is about a 2 km walk. We would consider car exchange in any long swap.
Notes
We usually block off our bedroom unless absolutely necessary. There is also a King size sofa bed in the rumpus room that sleeps two comfortable. Use a mosquito repellant in Summer and remember the sun screen.

Neighbourhood
Beerwah is a beautiful town in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and has everything you need. Several supermarkets, coffee shops, a great pub and it is easy to access to beaches eg Kings Beach and large shopping centres. The Sunshine Plaza is about 30 minutes away. We are the only house in our charming lane but there are houses in the surrounding area. Nearby bushwalking and mountain climbing is popular and there is a golf course in town often frequented by kangaroos. The township of Maleny up on the range is 20 minutes drive away and has wonderful shops and a boutique brewery. The Woodford Folk Festival is a short drive away (From 26th December-1St January every year). There are a few restaurants and coffee shops in town, Chinese, pizza, Indian and Thai food all readily available. Doctors, post office etc all the usual facilities are in town.
Getting around
You really need a car in Australia unless you are in a big city. The train to Brisbane runs several times a day and takes just over an hour. There is a courtesy bus to Australia Zoo from the train station. The zoo is approx 5 kilometres from the centre of town. The pub also has a courtesy bus.

Sue and Mike's home is gorgeous and huge. It's in a fantastic location that is very private, but just a short drive from the township of Beerwah, where you'll find all the supplies you need, as well as restaurants. The beautiful deck is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast, overlooking the glorious landscape. Nearby are some great hikes and it is within an easy drive of some big ticket attractions, such as Australia Zoo and Buderim Ginger Factory, as well as many more! Sue and Mike were great communicators in the lead up to the exchange, as well as throughout. They were also very generous hosts. What a successful exchange!

My husband Mike is a retired Air Traffic Controller and volunteer fireman and coast guard. I have recently retired and after a hectic time as an Emergency Nurse. I love quilting and travel. We would consider travelling anywhere really. Our son lives in Vancouver and our daughter in New York so those two destinations are always on our list.
