General overview

Our beautiful custom built new home sits on the shoreline, steps out the back door is the beach. The View of the coastal mountains across the straight of Georgia is absolutely stunning. We see deer, Orcas and humpback whales from our home as well as seals, seal lions, eagles, herons, otters and a host of other sea life. Our "resident" mink makes a daily appearance as he scampers across our rocks to the beach. Lots of glass, bright, open airy and modern, with a master bed and bathroom that both look the sea. Our Sterns and Foster King bed might be the most comfortable sleep you have ever had. The other bedrooms on the main floor have queen beds and the little "actic" bedroom upstairs has a double with a top of the line memory foam mattress. Our deck is huge, with about 200 feet of unobstructed view of the ocean. You can enjoy a swim or soak in the jetted swim spa, BBQ up some local salmon for dinner or just sit with a beverage and watch for whales.

The space

There are 2 bedrooms on the main floor, (the master and a guest room) and an office with a queen Cabinet bed. There is a 4th bedroom with a double bed upstairs off the bonus/games room.

Guest access

Keyless entry on Garage that lets you into the main house.

Notes

Our drive way is steep, but it's short and paved with a nice wide and flat area to turn around or park at the bottom. We prefer to travel with our small dog, so we get you might want to bring yours with you and we are pet friendly, However, if your dog is bigger and sheds, we would ask that you keep him off the furniture, and of-course that you pick up after your pet outside. We LOVE our home, we built it with our own hands, the window sills and trim came from trees we removed from the property and had milled. We would be so ad if anything happened to it.

Neighbourhood

Campbell River is BRIMMING with wonderful boutique shopping and great food, like AMAZING food. Local fish and chips to fresh sushi, grain fed beef, organic, vegetarian, Indian, Italian, Korean, Greek, you name it! with such amazing fresh and local ingredients, it's very hard to have a bad meal around here. (try one of our neighbour hood bakeries for fresh scones or bread for breakfast, you will not be disappointed) There is SO Much to do, in winter months we are 45 mins to the top of Mount Washington where you can enjoy all down hill (skiing, snowboarding) or cross country nordic activities. Tubing, sledding, snow shoeing. In non winter months enjoy the mountains board walks as you stroll thru paradise meadows and take in breath taking views. The island's moderate climate means you can golf on our of dozens of courses year round. We are within an hour to 3 of most anywhere on Vancouver island, so you if you want to explore Victoria (Butchard gardens is a must see) Tofino and long beach, Parksville/Qualicum or any of the other beautiful spots it is easy to do. 10 mins from our house you can enjoy discovery passage wharf, the longest (and first) salt water pier in Canada. or enjoy the newly built Campbell River suspension bridge, a 64 meter long bridge that floats 60 metres above the clear fast running salmon congested waters of the Campbell River Canyon. Take 10 . min ferry or water taxi over to Quadra Island for local craft, more great food and fine dining, and an abundance of local culture. (who knows, maybe you will splash with orcas on the way over) The Clear waters around Campbell River provide the best scuba diving in Canada, in fact Jacques Cousteau said they are some of the best in world. (you can enjoy them from our paddle boards or Kayak, no need to go in to see sea urchins, anemones, or seal. Seeing eagles is guaranteed. What I like best about our neighbourhood (besides the view) is the QUIET! Literally all you can hear at night is the sound of waves on the shore or an occasional owl. We are secluded and private (hence no blinds in the living areas) and you can see the stars in abundance. We are 15 mins to the Mount Washington turn off, Simply put, Mount Washington Alpine Resort is Vancouver Island’s snow magnet! Canada’s deepest all-natural snowpack can be found here, where 11 metres of the fluffy white stuff pile up each winter. Bordering Strathcona Provincial Park, BC’s oldest park, and overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the resort is an enviable position geographically. Unparalleled views exist from the top of the mountain, with the green Comox Valley down below and the blue waters of Georgia Strait in the background. With year-round operations, the mountain provides a plentiful mix of tree skiing, chutes, alpine bowls, terrain parks and intermediate cruisers which cater to the region’s skiers and boarders in winter. Mount Washington is also home to the Raven Lodge, the flagship facility for one of North America’s finest cross-country skiing destinations. In summer, a mountain Bike Park, scenic chairlift rides and dining options make for an unforgettable day with views that are simply out of this world!

Getting around

we are 5 mins from the Campbell River airport or 25 mins from Comox airport which is larger. Ideally you need a car in CR to see all there is to see but there is good local bus service with the closest stop about 2 min walk from our home. we are about 2.5 hours to Victoria (and Butchard gardens) or Tofino and Long beach on the west coast, both spots make GREAT day trips during your stay.
