General overview
Houseboat 2 levels (175m2) with nice expansive views. Very close to city centre in a nice green area with a lot of playing options for kids.
All the benefits of a big city but also the benefits of living on the water: swimming, paddleboard, nice balcony on waterside.
The space
Upstairs:
Hall with toilet.
Big open kitchen with dinner table for 10. Kitchen with a lot of facilities because i love cooking and we love good coffee.
Living room on lower part, close to the water with big opening doors and couch. Wide views on the canal. We also have a garden with trampoline. A big loggia to relax and view the canal life. Another room/office/children play room with opening windows to the canal.
Downstairs:
1 bathroom with bath and shower and separate toilet. Another smaller bathroom (needs to be finished)with shower and sink and another separate toilet.
A storage room with all Technics.
3 kids bedrooms with single beds. 2 extra matrasses available.
We can arrange a baby camping bed.
Master bedroom with big bed (180x220).
We have enough space and if you dont mind sleeping on a airmatrass or camping matrass on the ground you can stay with up to 8-10 people.
Guest access
All the bedrooms are downstairs in the boat, accessable by stairs.
Small kids can stay but the stairs are open and we have a lot of big windows opening to the water. Possible with small babies that cannot walk yet, or kids who can swim properly.
Notes
We have 2 Cats Micky and Loekie. THey would love some attention and food in morning and evening. They also have a litter box but hardly use it. The cats are outside a lot and it is not a lot of work.

Neighbourhood
Next to our garden with trampoline there is a park with nice big trees. A lot of space to play for kids and playground in our street "the Boog"(arch). Also lot of green parks very close by and nice playgrounds for kids. We swim in the canal (our swimmingpool) and have a supboard.
Utrecht is a very nice and beautiful city with canals (like Amsterdam but smaller and less tourists). You can reach the citycenter in 20-25 min. by foot and 10 by bike.
Also different shops and restaurants within walking distance. Coffee bar/lunch room in front of us across the canal.
Getting to my home
20 min. Walking from central train station and 10 min. from trainstation Vaartse Rijn.
Amsterdam = 25. min by train
Rotterdam = 45 min. Train/car
Utrecht city center = walking 25 min.

We had a fantastic exchange over the Easter weekend. Eva and family in Groningen, we in their beautiful house on the water in Utrecht. Communication was good, we exchanged local tips. Worth repeating! -

We spent a lovely 10 days on this charming boat close to the center of Utrecht, the canal where the boat is located was relaxed enough to be able to take a leasurly swim or use the paddle boards supplied by the hosts, communication with the host family was always fantastic, very responsive and helpful,we highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to visit Holland -
We have spent 6 days on Eva’s family houseboat. We had a blast! We got to experience the life on a boat in Utrecht and we loved it. The neighborhood is so quiet and peaceful. We got lucky with the weather and went swimming and paddling every day in the canal from the balcony. What a great experience! The children loved to play with the Lego, the cats and in the front yard. Eva is very reactive and friendly. We received a nice welcome package. It was one of our best home exchange and we will be very happy to welcome this friendly family in our home in Liege soon. -
We loved our stay on Evita’s and family houseboat! The kids loved the water slide going directly from the deck to the canal, the lego room and the hamster. We loved drinking a glass of wine on the deck at sunset, the noise of the water on the walls in the bedroom (so relaxing), watching the rowers while drinking coffee on the deck in the morning (excellent coffee machine by the way). And Utrecht is such a pretty city! Evita is super friendly and helpful. Super recommend -
We really enjoyed the midweek on the houseboat of the Voditska family. Together with the rather large garden and the beautiful weather, it really felt like a piece of paradise in the middle of the city. And even though it was perhaps just a little too cold, the children still took a leap into the (ice-cold) water. We can really recommend a stay on this houseboat! -
The houseboat was a very nice and welcoming home. We were greeted by a nice gift of Dutch specialities. The houseboat was like the pictures on the profile and at the same time so much more. We liked everything about it. It was a fun experience for all of us to stay here. The kids had fun with the cats and the adults liked the great espresso maker. It was great to follow the life on the canals from the livingroom. The location was perfect with several playgrounds nearby and a short walk to the city centre. Utrecht is a wonderful city and definitely worth visiting. It feels like a very safe and nice city to visit with children. We visited the Miffy Museum which was fun for the kids. We climbed the Dom Tower and walked the canals of the inner city. We could easily spend another week in Utrecht. We can really recommend Utrecht and Evas houseboat. -
We spent 11 days on Eva and her family's boat in August 2021. Great place and a lovely family. It was a globe exchange but it felt more like a simultaneous exchange considering the effort they put in preperation and making us feel welcome. You could tell right away this is experienced and dedicated home exchangers. A French family lived there before us and they welcomed us, showed us everything gave us the keys and even prepared a welcome snack. Nice bonus. Communication with Eva was always very smooth, fast and straightforward. The boat is a fun place to live in. A bit special but convenient and functional. Comfortable beds and complete silence at night. Good kitchen equipment. Good bikes for everyone. And two nice cats. A trampoline in the front and a waterslide from the balcony. Our kids just loved it and so did we. The inner city of Utrecht is very nearby by bikes or by bus. The central station is just two bus stops away and you reach the museum area in 10 minutes by bike. The city of a Utrecht is a great Dutch city and a great starting point to explore the Netherlands. We can recommend this accommodation and this family to everyone. We might get back for a simultaneity exchange sometime. -
In a few words, fantastic stay on Eva and Arjan's house boat. There was a lot of communication by email and WhatsApp before, during and after the trip and it was always very friendly. We loved everything, cooking (very well equipped by the way) while watching the kids paddle. Drinking our coffee on the terrace, enjoying the view and the boats or rowing. In the evening, it's even better, the place is relaxing and so calm. We enjoyed these 10 days with our family. A small thought for the friendly welcome of the neighbours. We would have stayed longer and hope to return for the next barge. We didn't have the opportunity to meet. I hope it will be possible later Thank you for your welcome gifts, much appreciated. We had a great exchange in the houseboat of Eva and het family! We enjoyed the unique location on the canal and the hospitality of Eva. Our kids loved the lego room and the trampoline and we enjoyed the sun in the nice green area in front of the house. Thanks Eva, for this nice exchange! -
Echanger avec Eva, Arjan et les enfants a été un réél plaisir. La communication a été permanente et très facile car Eva parle français. Quelle expérience formidable de loger dans une maison bateau ! Utrecht est une ville très sympathique et proche d'Amsterdam. La maison d'Eva est à 30 minutes à pied de la gare puis 30 min de trajet en train. Aucune difficulté pour prendre le train car il y en a toutes les 10 minutes !Amsterdam est tout simplement magnifique ! Encore merci Eva et Arjan pour votre accueil chaleureux. We are a family of 5. Children aged 9, 11 and 13 years old. We love traveling and house swapping (surprise us😉). We have done more than 15 exchanges in the last 5 years and we love them😍.
