General overview
This house is ideal for one or two couples, is quiet in a canopied quiet neighborhood with a community pool accessible by foot that is barely used by the residents and feels very private. We like that's it's convenient to Whole foods, and a huge mall 5 mn away, you can even bike there by passing through the park at the back. You can bike and walk to your heart's content. The neighborhood is surrounded by golf courses, and there are several lakes and a nature trail a couple of miles away. Downtown is 15 mn away and Lido Beach is 18mn away. We can lend our bikes and canoe if you have a roof rack on your car. There is a lot to see and several white sand beaches 20 mn to an hour away. The cultural offer is also great with the Dali museum in St Pete, the Ringling circus museum and Selby botanical gardens nearby, several nature parks with trails etc.

Neighbourhood
We live in the Meadows, a community surrounded by golfs, and several walking and biking paths, also has its own nature trail. It's ideally situated 5 mn from highway 75 which leads to St Petersburg, Tampa, Ft Myers and Naples. 2.5 hours from Orlando.. We're far enough from the touristic zones to enjoy the quiet but also quickly accessible to UTC mall, downtown and the beach. Our house backs to Benderson Park, with a big lake and 4 miles of trail to walk or bike around, and a child's play area.
Getting to my home
Sarasota airport is 15 mn away, Tampa is 1 hour, Miami is 3.5 hours away. Orlando airport is 2.5 hours away.

Getting around
A car is necessary. We can't lend our car as it's quite old and unreliable. You will have to rent one. Parking is easy in the garage or in the driveway.
If you want to explore more you can drive 2-3 hours for a night or two and visit dozens of natural springs with manatees near Orlando, the Disney parks, Naples and Ft Myers (visit the Ford estate there!) etc. Two weeks at least would be necessary to get a feel of our area. Across to the east you can also visit Palm beach, St Augustine and the lighthouse, the space museum with NASA rockets etc

We were very fortunate to cat and plant sit for Sandrine. She explained the care instructions very clearly and also had a helpful guide with suggestions of things to do, including kids options knowing we have a young daughter. She went above and beyond, making sure we were comfortable. The house is in a lovely community with a pool walking distance which we used everday and never saw another person. The home was spacious, with a well-equipt kitchen and we especially loved the lanai for sitting out watching the squirrels and rabbits in the garden. We loved Sarasota with its many beaches ans hope to return!

Francis and I are not difficult or nitpicking guests, as long as everything works and is reasonably clean, we don't ask for much. You won't walk on eggshells in our house either. We don't smoke or use heavy perfumes. We don't stay inside much except for cooking and sleeping, not much TV for us and if we take time to read and rest, it will be at the pool or the beach. We like to be out and about as much as possible because life is so short! I speak Spanish and my husband and I both Speak English and French. We like to hike, swim, visit old buildings, and meet nice people! We're interested in swapping for Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Guadeloupe or Carribean, France, Eastern Europe, Northern Europe, Dalmatian coast, South America or Spain. Pretty open to other countries too, just ask. We'd prefer swaps for 2-3 weeks for now, and later when we retire, will be for longer, maybe 2-3 months even.
