It’s an eclectic area with so much to do. I love living so close to The Shore with its abundance of bars and cafes, not to mention being a stone’s throw from Leith Links (local park) where I go unwind after a day’s work.
The space
My home is a first floor apartment in a 1960s apartment block on a quiet street in Leith, Edinburgh. I bought it in 2019 and have been lovingly renovating it ever since!
It comprises:
🌟Large living/dining room with ample seating (two sofas, an armchair and a dining table with 4 chairs) and TV.
🌟Separate kitchen with breakfast bar, dishwasher, washing machine, oven, microwave, fridge freezer.
🌟Bathroom with bath and shower - instant hot water from the combi boiler
🌟Main bedroom with king size bed (photos to be updated)
🌟Second bedroom with double bed (photos to be updated).

Please note, the apartment is accessible by stairs only, and as such is sadly inaccessible for wheeelchair users.

Neighbourhood
The apartment is located in Leith and is two minutes walk from The Shore, the most sought out area in Leith, famous for its beautiful scenery, restaurants and bars.
Just some activities for you to choose from during your stay:
💫Explore the Leith Farmer's Market on Sunday, situated next to historic Custom House.
💫Take a look around the art studios at Coburg House (open days throughout the year; shop selling artist's goods open all year round)
💫Take a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia located near to the Ocean Terminal shopping centre and cinema.
💫 Walk along the Water of Leith cycle path to explore more areas of Edinburgh - Newhaven harbour, Stcokbridge and more.
💫 Make sure you come back to The Shore by the evening time to enjoy dinner at one of the fabulous restaurants at your doorstep, specialising in seafood and local dishes.
The area is a great base for you to explore Edinburgh and is well served by public transport.
Edinburgh's historic city centre is a 10 minute tram ride away. Start your day by walking up Calton Hill to take in the breathtaking views across the city; then stroll up the Royal Mile, paying a visit to Camera Obscura (fun for all ages) or taking your time exploring Edinburgh castle.
For sea swimmers and beach fans alike, the seaside town of Portobello is a 20 minute bus ride away from the apartment and is well worth a visit.
Hikers are in for a treat with the Pentland hills a feast for the sense and a mere 30 minute drive away.
You will truly have everything at your fingertips!
Nearest airport
Edinburgh airport is 25 mins drive away and takes 45 minutes on the tram. The tram stop is a 3 minute walk from the flat.
Getting around
I am very close to supermarkets (1 minute walk to the nearest Lidl and a 3 minute walk to a large Tesco), shops, restaurants and bars.

I am a family of one!
I work as a self employed trainer/faciliator/coach and much of my work is done remotely these days.
I'm originally from Cork, Ireland and have been living in Edinburgh since 2002.
I have exchanged my home a few times already, very much inspired by my parents (retired teachers) who exchanged houses during the summer holidays when I was a child.
*Please note, I usually only plan holidays 1-6 months in advance!*
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
Living/dining room with the yellow chair loved by everyone!
Bathroom with bath and shower (and toilet of course!). Instant hot water from combi boiler. Bathroom was put in in December 2021.
Main bedroom
Kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine etc. Sit at the breakfast bar to watch the world go by.
Second bedroom
First floor apartment. There are seven flats in the building and about 12 buildings in the block. It was built in 1967 as part of redevelopment in the area. I moved in in 2019 and the previous owner had lived there for 52 years! The street itself is very quirky, with many different types of buildings.
The flat is two minutes walk from The Shore - one of the most desirable spots in Edinburgh. You'll find an array of the best bars, restaurants and coffee shops on your doorstep.
