Neighbourhood

Spend a memorable stay in the heart of one of the most typical Parisian districts, the Butte Montmartre, and come to live the Paris of Edith Piaf! The studio is located in the heart of Montmartre at the bottom of the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, Sacré Cœur. Climb the stairs to the top of the Basilica Montmartre to get the most amazing view over Paris and visit the artist community as they sell their works in the open-air market. If you don't want to walk the hill up to the Basilica, take the funicular, it costs one metro ticket. My charming studio apartment is on the first floor (without an elevator) of a bright courtyard. You will find peace and quiet to rest after a long day in Paris. The proximity of transport will facilitate your movements in the city. Five min walk to Anvers Metro station, among three other stations within a 10 min walk, plus buses and taxis, makes it easy to move around all of Paris. Take a walking tour of Montmartre - such as the Sandeman's one, or one of the others. A good guide will explain the really interesting area and its history, which will help put a lot of the paintings you are likely to later see at various museums in context. 16 min walk to Moulin Rouge 13 min walk to Le Moulin de la Galette - a historic restaurant and one of the two remaining windmills in Montmartre 13 min walk to Cabaret Au Lapin Agile - the oldest cabaret in Paris The show at the Lapin Agile (Songs, Music, Poetry) is composed of several singers of various kinds: old French songs, Édith Piaf's songs, chansons of Paris, drinking songs with all the audience singing along in an ambiance typical of the Lapin Agile, the cabaret known throughout the world. The Lapin Agile is the perfect definition of the artistic cabaret. It was one of the privileged places of the bohemian artists of the early twentieth century such as Pablo Picasso, Max Jacob, Roland Dorgelès, Francis Carco, Modigliani, Apollinaire, Utrillo, and Pierre Mac Orlan. The venue is made up of a small pink house, covered with vines located at 4 rue des Saules in the charming Montmartre district, and hosts performances by young Parisian artists every evening.

Anne

I am originally from the US and earned my Ph.D. from SMU in Dallas. I moved to Italy ten years ago, where I eventually ended up meeting and marrying Matteo. He often travels with me, but sometimes I travel with my dad and/or one of my nieces and nephews. I teach history and US and global politics. Right now I work remotely, so I am able to travel much more than my husband. We recently adopted a corgi dog named Blueberry Maine because we love Maine and blueberries so much. While we are residents in Lodi, Italy, we have studios in Nice and Paris, France, making it pretty easy to swap.
