General overview
We've finally found our perfect piece of paradise and want to share it with you. Our cozy off grid home in the the Portuguese mountains is a nature lover's retreat, only 20 minutes from the spectacular beaches of the unspoiled western coast and several vibrant coastal towns.
Our simple but chic glamping setup allows us to be more connected with the beautiful nature around us and to spend our time and energy on the things that really matter. Wake up to the birds chirping in the cork oak trees, cook a delicious lunch using the freshest local products in our fully stocked tiny kitchen built for foodies, take a short drive to the beach - where you might have the place all to yourselves, and return home to catch the sunset with a glass of local natural wine in hand while the kids climb trees and explore in the expansive yard. And don't forgot to watch the stars after dark.
The space
Some more practical information...
We live completely off grid and rely on solar power for energy and on the rainfall filling our lake for water. But we have a generous amount of both, as long as we are mindful.
Our bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom are in separate buildings which we love because it invites you to get outdoors first thing in the morning.
The bedroom is in a cozy nest-like yurt with a big skylight to gaze at the stars and a wood stove for chilly winter nights. We have a 140 x 200 double bed and a bunk bed for 2 kids.
The kitchen is 10 meters away in a groovy vintage caravan my husband and the boys completely renovated and transformed into our kitchen. I love to cook and the kitchen is my favorite place to be. Don't let it's size fool you - this tiny kitchen is fully equipped to turn out gourmet meals!
In the kitchen we have a Japanese style dining table so we eat, work, homeschool, and drink tea sitting on the floor. But when the weather is nice, which is most of the time, we dine al fresco under the trees.
The bathroom is 15 meters from the yurt and kitchen. Throw open the big windows for a beautiful view of the valley and you may not want to go back to showering indoors again! We use a compost toilet to conserve water - we are from the city and got used to it so you will too :) The compost toilet is simple - do your business, sprinkle in a scoop of sawdust, and close the lid.

Neighbourhood
We live on top of the mountain surrounded by majestic cork oak trees and eucalyptus forest. There are small trails to walk around and explore the immediate neighborhood or, if you're adventurous, you can hike or bike the Rota Vicentina through the neighboring mountains or all the way to the beach.
The most beautiful beaches are just 25 minutes away by car. Some are completely wild and untouched, others have fantastic beach bars and restaurants where you can feast on local seafood stew or sip on a gin tonic while watching the sun go down over the water. Surfing is a popular sport and there are plenty of opportunities to catch some great waves or take a lesson to learn how to do it!
Getting to my home

We are a family of 4 and, after backpacking around the world for several years, we decided to settle down and live the simple life in the mountains of Portugal. We are so happy to have this place to call home but, of course, the adventure of exploring new places continues to call us.
We are looking forward to sharing what we have manifested with you and are open to travel anywhere, anytime!
