General overview

We live in the city, so we love to escape to the quiet and beauty of the countryside. We enjoy sitting on the patio in summer or at the fireside on a winter's evening with a glass of wine and just chilling. It's a great spot for county walks and relaxing, but located a little over an hour from Dublin or Belfast and with easy access to many other areas.

The space

Our country cottage is a 1920's cottage which we renovated about 10 years ago. There's one main room - with 3 bedrooms and 2 shower rooms. There's a patio area to the side and a big green (field and lawn) area behind.

Guest access

The cottage is all on one level - just one small half step from the main room to the corridor that leads to the bedrooms and bathrooms. There are 4 steps from the road level to the path.

Notes

Lovely quiet area - country walks and forest trails to explore. Cavan has 365 lakes - one for every day of the year - so plenty of opportunities for swimming, kayaking, fishing etc.

Neighbourhood

Annalee Cottage is about 2.4k outside the town of Cootehill, Co.Cavan. Plenty of shops, pubs, take-aways, hotel, etc in Cootehill. Cavan town is 22k away, which is a bigger town with shopping centres, swimming pool, cinema etc

Getting to my home

A car would nearly be essential for a stay in our cottage. We are approx 1.5 hrs from Dublin or Belfast.

Getting around

2.4k to the town - walk, car or bikes.

We're an active, retired couple who love to travel. We love hiking & geocaching is our main passion. We have 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren - but most times is just the 2 of us travelling. We sometimes travel with one or two other adults, but that would be agreed in advance of any arrangements. We're totally new to home exchange but willing to give it a shot. We'd be interested in starting off fairly near home - so mainland Europe for a taster? Also interested in New Zealand for 2025 Our main home is in the City, we could look at hosting for a night before you travel to our holiday home for your swap if you fly into Dublin etc.
