General overview
Paola and I hope to achieve a long term house swap of approximately 6 months where we could use an English location as a base to explore the UK and Europe. We are an adventurous couple who met overseas and decided to share our lives together in the idyllic location of Terrigal, Australia. I am an experienced teacher in a local, private school and my partner works in retail. We have both travelled extensively and seek to do far more in the near and distant future! Terrigal is a pretty suburb on the popular Central Coast, located one hour north of Sydney. We are very fortunate to live in such a spacious and comfortable home which is only a 15 minute walk to a beautiful beach. There are also a myriad of outdoor activities available close by including, bushwalking, swimming, surfing and boating while the area is particularly well-equipped with sporting facilities, gyms and cinemas.
The space
In the last few years we have renovated and modernised the house by painting, adding new floor coverings and installing an attractive, 'Hamptons' style kitchen. There is a smallish, low maintenance garden with hedge border enclosing an assortment of manicured grass and native and cottage gardens. There is a also a long, covered verandah, perfect for leisurely, outdoor breakfasts or a late afternoon drink watching the sun go down!
Downstairs consists of three good sized bedrooms. The main bedroom has an ensuite bathroom while the other two are serviced by the main bathroom. Coming down the bedroom hallway, and passing the laundry, takes you to the family room that flows into the galley style kitchen. Beyond, the kitchen there is an L-shaped dining/ living room that faces north, capturing the brilliant light and warmth of the sun. Moving upstairs takes you to an extensive 'parent retreat' that contains a large, open plan bedroom/ lounge area, further ensuite bathroom, huge walk-in wardrobe and a lovely balcony with views down onto the garden. Finally, there is a sizeable, double lock-up garage with easy access to the side entrance of the house.
Guest access
The house is situated on a corner block so, interestingly, has several, different entries. There is a pathway leading from the letterbox to the lounge and family room entrances while the garage, located off the adjacent street necessitates entry from the other side of the house. The house is two-story with a flight of stairs leading to the upstairs living areas.

Neighbourhood
The neighbourhood is very attractive with a proliferation of trees and other vegetation in most streets. The immediate area is flat, enabling easy walking or cycling and you can comfortably stroll to the nearby Terrigal Beach, Terrigal Haven and a wide selection of boutique shops, bars and restaurants. Also, only a ten minute drive away, is the huge Erina Fair shopping mall that contains all the shopping facilities you could possibly wish for! However, the lovely aspect of where we live is that it is quiet despite being close to all amenities.
Getting to my home
Australia has just opened up again to all overseas travellers, with Sydney's Kingsford Smith International Airport being the port of entry. From the airport it is approximately 80 minutes to our home via the Cahill Expressway, Pacific Highway and M3 motorway.

STEVE
I am a 61 year old primary teacher. I have two adult sons, who live in Sydney. I was born in London, UK but came to Australia when I was 4 years old and consider my self an Aussie! My partner, Paola is 52 and is Peruvian. We met while I was travelling in South America. She is a qualified solicitor but had her own real estate business in Peru. We both love love to travel, having explored much of South America together and I'd like to return to Europe, this time sharing the experience with Paola!
We consider ourselves to be honest, decent people who relish taking new opportunities in life.
"We are aiming for a lengthy, preferably 6 month simultaneous exchange, from August 2023 to Jan 2024."
