Neighbourhood
Our home is tucked inside a lovely safe community with a playground inside the complex and many other playgrounds/spray parks/rivers/forests nearby (less than 5 min away).
If you drive 2 min down the road. You have access to Kanaka Regional Park (a gorgeous accessible hike, falls, picnic area, river to watch salmons or skip rocks).
15 min is the iconic Golden Ears Provincial Park where you will be able to enjoy various levels of hikes (from easy to very challenging: you can take your pick), beach access and beautiful rainforest walks (some are very accessible!!). My favourite hike is a 2.5k hike along the river where you get a view on the peaks really early on and you also cross beautiful rainforest terrain to finally reach a crystal clear waterfall. If you are in for a challenge, Golden ears trail (32km) will definitely offer you stunning views of all the surrounding peaks. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcICJ_lgzhw&t=38s
10 min away is the beautiful Maple Ridge Park where you will find an amazing playground/spray park/strolls by the river. The adults (and kids) might enjoy going down the lazy river with a drink (or two) in hand. ;)
10-15 min drive to Rolley Lake Provincial Park, Hayward Lake, Pitt Lake where you can enjoy beautiful waters and beaches. We have a double kayak for you to enjoy the water. You can also rent canoes at Pitt Lake to explore Widgeon Creek Falls.
Across Maple Ridge, you will have access to bike paths and easy walks that have beautiful views of the surrounding mountains (no need to hike to get the views!!).
30min drive, there is Fort Langley National Park where you will find historical information and the beautiful and quaint little town of Fort Langley. I highly recommend a stroll by the river/fort and finish up with a bite to eat (and some shopping) on the main road.

if you are looking for snow without the hassle of snow, you've come to the right place.***
We are located smack in the middle of 3 snowy destinations:
1) Vancouver Mountains (45 min):
There is 3 ski resorts: Seymour, Grouse, Cypress. You can enjoy skiing, sledding, cross-country skiing there. Affordable
2) Sasquatch Ski Resort (50 min):
Family friendly ski resort. Affordable
3) Baker Ski Resort (1h30):
Beautiful powder condition. This is the ideal location for ski bums and it also has everything for families. Affordable.
*If you want to ski in Whistler, that is a 2h drive. You would need to wake up really early, but it is definitely worth it (even tough it is quite pricey).
VANCOUVER:
45 min drive and you are in the heart of Vancouver. Vancouver has so much to offer:
-Stanley Park:
It is definitely a forest within a city. Gigantic trees, beautiful beaches, flower gardens, indigenous art,...
-The Seawall:
This iconic bike path/walkway surround Stanley Park and part of the city. It takes you to a bunch of iconic views and sightseeing attractions. Worth it to rent bikes to tour.
-Granville Island Market:
you can access it via sea bus or by car. The sea bus is pretty neat. On granville, you will find exquisite foods, restaurants, live music, breweries, distilleries, art galleries, kids museum, etc.
-Vancouver Aquarium
-Science World:
Kids (and adults) science museum within a dome. The Olympic village surrounding science world is worth a stroll. Lots of nice restaurants and breweries
-The hipster Main st:
Shopping much? You will find thrifts stores, to dispensaries, to record stores, coffee shops. The vibe is real. Check it out.
-Gastown:
Touristy section of town where you will the famous steam clock, fancy restaurants, stores, bars, nightclubs,...
-Canada Place and Downtown:
You can see the olympic torch from when Vancouver hosted the Olympics.
-Kitsilano:
Beautiful neighborhood with an iconic beach for amazing sunsets, beach volleyball and just some regular beachcombing.
We really like to visit Vancouver, but I must admit it is always nice to come back home where there is no hassle for parking and we are closer to nature. With our home, you get the best of both worlds :)

Then, you will ideally have a car to move around and explore the great outdoors. There is A LOT to see within a 20 min radius.
If you wish to take the train, it will take you directly Downtown Vancouver and you won't have to worry about traffic.
