General overview

Quaint and quiet woodland cottage vacation home located only a quick 1.5 hour drive (or 2 hour train ride) north of NYC. Our woodsy cottage is a joy to visit, adventure awaits! Year round activities for the outdoorsy explorer include: farmer's markets, museums, historical homes, beginner to moderate hikes, cross country skiing and snowboarding, all a short distance away. You can also opt to stay in for the winter and enjoy our fully equipped home: 80 inch projector, plenty of board games, and delivery or eat-in from/at some amazing village restaurants. So much to do!

The space

Our cozy home, The Highland Greenhouse, was recently featured as part of Airbnb’s Top Design Predictions for 2022!!! Our place is fully equipped and well maintained, with many amenities including complimentary dozen of farm-fresh eggs, all-white fresh linens, super fluffy white towels, brand new super comfortable beds, and lively plants throughout. We also offer a Coffee & Tea (& Soda!) Station. Your one stop shop for that morning cup of deliciousness. We offer drip coffee (ground medium roast coffee in freezer), Keurig (12 k-cups), *new* Nespresso (6 pods), moka stove top espresso maker (Starbucks Espresso in freezer), french press, milk frother, electric kettle, a large variety of teas and a soda stream. Emerald Room: King sized bed Olive Room: Queen sized bed Moss Room: Full sized bed

Notes

We keep four doors locked that are not accessible to our guests: Basement, Boiler Room, Linen Closet and Attic. Other than those, you have the whole house to yourself :D! This is a new listing on this site. We tried Short Term Renting this home while we were living in Brooklyn, but have decided to stop renting so we can live here full-time because we love it SO MUCH and we can't wait to try home sharing! If you wish, you can check out our 5-star listing on Airbnb were we are superhosts.

Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood is so lovely and tight knit, all of our neighbors are some of the nicest people we've met! Although every neighbor is super nice and friendly, please keep in mind that a couple of their dogs are leash reactive so if you are visiting with your furry friend, wave to them from a distance when walking them on the street.

Getting to my home

If you are driving/renting a car: getting here is very simple, no hidden turns or exits etc. If you are flying in and opt to not rent a car, getting here from the airports is easy. You can take any train to Poughkeepsie: MetroNorth 2 hours or Amtrak 1.5 hours. After that, we are a short 8 minute Uber from the Poughkeepsie station, across the Mid-Hudson bridge.

Nearest airport

New York Stewart International is the closest to us, but we always opt to fly into Newark, NJ. Way more options though like JFK and LGA. The journey here from the airport would be about 2-3 hours.

Getting around

We are in a very walkable neighborhood. You can easily walk to our village for anything you might need: deli, restaurants, micro-brewery, wine bar, & neighborhood pub. A car is recommended if you want to explore the various outdoor activities available or trips to our big grocery store and Dollar General. We are a short 8 minute drive to the Poughkeepsie Station where you can take the Amtrak into the city (NYC) for a day trip if you'd like, as well!
