General overview
Our property is located in a quiet coastal community with a lovely uncrowded beach. Its a step back in time with locals launching their small fishing boats off the beach with tractors. The town does have all you need for a get away with a local tavern, post office and takeaway food store. We are a 20 minute drive south from Proserpine Airport and 40 minutes south of Airlie Beach - gateway to the Whitsunday Islands.
Although we are in a rural area, we are in close proximity to the tourist hub of the region and all that the Whitsundays has to offer - restaurants and cafes, shopping, islands, Whitehaven Beach and the spectacular Great Barrier Reef.
The space
Our house has 2 bedrooms and an open plan living/dining room which is fully air-conditioned. The kitchen is modern and well equipped. One bedroom has a king bed and the second can sleep 3 with bunks and a single bed.
Our back yard is fenced and we have 2 outdoor areas to enjoy either a quiet cuppa on the deck or a BBQ in the large carport.
Dogs are welcome but not inside the house please. Our laundry is situated in an enclosed part of the veranda and your dog is welcome to sleep in this secure area at night.

This is a low set house with a step up into each of the 3 access doors
Notes
We are one street back from the beach which makes early beach walks a pleasure.
Fishing rods and tackle are in the shed for your use and oysters are ready for picking at low tide from the beach front.
As this is our holiday house we do not have WIFI or streaming services. We find the mobile network adequate for our holiday needs.

Neighbourhood
We have wonderful neighbours and many houses in the street are holiday homes which are vacant during the year. If its quiet you are looking for then this is the place to relax.
Getting to my home
The best way to our house is either to drive yourself or fly into Proserpine and hire a car. Unfortunately we do not have access to public transport in the regional areas.
If we are on a simultaneous swap our car will be available.
Nearest airport
Proserpine/Whitsunday Coast Airport 20 minutes drive.
Getting around
The closest grocery store is in Proserpine. There is no public transport therefore you will need a car. These can be hired from the airport.
Woolworths supermarkets do deliver to Midge Point so it is recommended that you order your groceries on line and make use of this service.
Most of the tourist areas are 30 -40 minutes from here if you are looking at visiting Proserpine (Faust Dam - for barramundi fishing, crocodile river tours, Bredels Wildlife Farm etc), Airlie Beach (tourist area for markets, marinas, restaurants, shops etc) or the Whitsunday Islands (Hamilton Island, Hayman Island, Daydream Island, Whitsunday Island and Whitehaven Beach).
Mackay region is south of Midge Point approximately 1 1/2 hours and has a lot to offer with a variety of National Parks and beaches. National parks include Cape Hillsborough, Eungella, Cathu State Forrest to name a few.

We are a farming family of 3 (although have two more adult children who have flown the nest). Iain works our cattle and cane farm which is a half hour from our listed property. He also works off farm. I (Larissa) am an accountant in Mackay and Benji (10) is in grade 5 so holiday time is rare which is one reason why we joined PLU. Our first overseas trip was in 2019 - late in life for us but we loved it and are keen to do more travel.
