The Port Moody Area
Port Moody is a close knit community in Metro Vancouver enveloping the east end of Burrard inlet with a population of 34,000. We are 11 miles from downtown Vancouver and 25 miles from Vancouver International Airport. It is a 45 minute drive from the airport and a 25 minute drive to Vancouver.
We have a new above ground rapid transit train where you can ride direct from the airport to within a 5 minute walk to our front door. The same train takes you from our home to downtown Vancouver in 25 minutes. A car is not necessary for this exchange as everything is within walking distance and Metro Vancouver is a short bus ride away. We also have a commuter rail called the Westcoast Express that travels westbound to Vancouver in the morning and eastbound late afternoon that shares the same platform as the rapid transit and goes directly to Vancouver waterfront. A vehicle exchange is possible and can be discussed at the time.
During your exchange here you will be able to easily walk too much of what beautiful British Columbia has to offer.
For starters, our complex, Salal on Klahanie Drive is one of a group of prestigious condo complexes much sought after in the area. From here, you can walk on many trails waterside, tree lined trails along the coast of the inlet. A ten minute walk away you can be at Rocky Point Marina and Wharf where you can rent canoes, kayaks, and SUP paddle boards. In the park you can picnic and kids can play in the Water Park or pool. There is an upscale Boathouse Restaurant, Pajo’s Fish and Chips or Rocky Point Ice-cream to satisfy that sweet tooth. Across a small bridge is Old Town Port Moody with heritage shops, bistros, and restaurants.
Across the street from Rocky Point is our very own “Brewery Row”. Port Moody has four different and distinct micro-breweries where you can wet your whistle after a busy day in the park. Food trucks park at the breweries for tasty eats while sampling the different beers.
A ten minute walk from your exchange in the opposite direction brings you to two different small community villages called Suterbrook Village and Newport Village. Each has grocery shopping, bars, restaurants, walk in clinic and Eagle Ridge Hospital. Basically all the amenities one needs are within walking distance from home.
A short 10 minute drive brings you to Sasamat Lake where there is a beach for swimming and a walking trail around the park. Belcarra Regional Park, also 10 minutes away has a Wharf where you can go crabbing or kayaking. World class golfing is 25 minutes away in nearby Pitt meadows.
If you’re looking to get away from the bustle of a busy city and immerse yourself in beautiful British Columbia, yet be minutes away from world class Vancouver, this exchange is for you.
