My home is in Playas del Coco, Costa Rica. It is a 5 minute drive (20 minute walk) to the beach. 3 bedroom, two bathrooms with a small pool.
It is very secure and in a nice family neighborhood.
El espacio
There is a large open covered porch area that Costa Rican’s call a rancho. It has a nice sitting and eating area. A perfect place to have morning coffee and listen and watch howler monkeys
The living room area is spacious with a reclining loveseat room relax in after a day of hiking, surfing, zip lining or boat trip. It has an HD tv with internet so Netflix, Hulu and Disney Plus are available. It does not have a/c but I have some great fans that keep me cool and comfortable.
The bedrooms have a/c If needed. One queen bed and one single bunk bed over a full size.
The kitchen is large ( by CR standards) with an island with a cooktop stove. A full sized refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, microwave and counter top toaster/convection oven.
There is an extra large living space at the back of the house that has a utility sink, washing machine and dining table. Clothes dry quickly on the line here in dry season but take a full day during rainy season.
The pool are is all enclosed and private. You can even skinny dip if you want to without fear of neighbors prying eyes seeing you. The pool is small and not very deep about 4 1/2 feet) but is great for cooling off and floating around in when you don’t feel like going to the ocean or evenings after a long day. The pool is not secure for little ones and it has a step ladder to get in and out. A lounge area and twinkly fairy lights make it a great place to relax a bit on those warm breeze, tropical evenings. There is even a bathroom area and shower outside near the pool.
Acceso de invitados
There are two steps to get onto the rancho but there are also two decent wide ramps. Doorways are average, normal US sized so may be difficult for wheel chairs. Large step in shower.
Notas
Please remember, this is tropical area and temperature. You WILL have insects in the house. And geckos (who eat many of the insects). This is not a closed up, sprayed, bug free, spotless home or country. It is a developing country. Water and electricity can sometimes go out for no reason and no warning. All types of critters and bugs have wandered into my house (and almost always wandered back out). That is part of the adventure and fun here. I have lived in CR for 8 years and have had stings and bites but nothing deadly, serious or even any that have needed treatment.
If you come to this country with an open mind and heart, you will find a most beautiful country full of warm, giving helpful people.

Barrio
To get to my home is mostly by paved roads but the street I actually live on is dirt. It can be dusty during the dry season. I have wonderful Costa Rican and expat neighbors. On these back roads you will see people walking and in motorcycles and bikes. You will see chickens, dogs and cats, children of all ages, birds, sometimes monkeys. The neighbors herd their cattle past the house to other pastures once or twice a day.
Llegando a mi casa
You will want to fly into Liberia airport and either arrange for a rental car or you can grab a taxi at the airport. It is $25 to $35 US for a taxi to bring you to Coco. You can catch a public bus near the airport that is going to Coco but you will still need a taxi from town to my house. About a five minute drive. The taxi will cost you about $1.50-2.00. Without dragging luggage with you, a walk to town is only about a 10-15 minute walk and the closest beach very close to downtown Coco. But during the dry season it can be hot and dusty.

Alrededor
You can rent a golf cart, bike or motorcycle to get around town. If you want to go shopping in a city, the bus to Liberia runs every half hour and is very cheap. It is a tourist town here so obviously rental cars are available by the airport. There are also tours you can take and the tour driver will pick you up and take you home.
