You will find a supermarket at just five minutes by foot. There is a cycle path just in front of the garden which many people use for jogging too! There is plenty of private off the road parking, and as the house is in a cul-de-sac we get no passing traffic.
You will need a car to be able to visit the many sites in Normandy. If you are coming from Paris you can get a train direct from Paris to Caen and the station is just five minutes away. If you are coming from UK you can take Brittany Ferries to Caen OUistreham which is about 20 minutes away. We are situated within easy reach of all the sites of interest: the D-Day beaches; Bayeux; Caen; Falaise; Deauville; honfleur and even Paris is just 2 hours by train. If you are travelling by an international route you can arrive at Paris and get a train from Paris St Lazaire train station to Caen. It takes about 2 and a half hours. You will arrive at Caen train station and we live just 5 minutes by taxi from the station. Caen has an airport if you want to fly elsewhere in Europe, usually by going through Lyon. You can also arrive from the UK by ferry to Ouistreham. There is really everything for everyone where we live. For those interested in history we are very close to the Normandy D-Day Landing beaches, American cemetery, Memorial Museum of Caen etc. We are very close to William the Conqueror's birthplace at Falaise where you can visit his castle, or the Castle of Caen. Queen Mathilde's tapestry is just a short drive away in Bayeux. The Ferry from Portsmouth arrives at Ouistreham which is a 20 minute drive. For families we have amusement parks, canoeing, sports facilities.We have great beaches for the summertime. The famous towns of Deauville, Cherbourg and Honfleur are within half an hour. In just 2 hours you can go to Paris for the day. We would prefer to exchange with adult travellers or families with teenagers.
