Experienced, friendly and reliable home exchangers offer a lovely, light home, from where you can easily discover The Netherlands, like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Friesland, Kinderdijk, Keukenhof, Dutch architecture, farms, windmills and beautiful Dutch scenery. Our home with sunny private garden is centrally located in the beautiful medieval town called Zutphen, which is in the top 10 of the most charming towns and small ciities in The Netherlands!
About our home: The house has a kitchen island, wooden floors, gas fire + central heating, the bathroom has a walk-in shower and bath and a sunny private garden. We have 4 bedrooms (we use 3 as bedroom + 1 as a meditation room) + 1 study room with 2 desks/computers. We can accomodate up to 6 people. About the town and its surroundings: Our home is only 80 meters from the dike and the wide green river fore-lands and the river behind it. A great area to discover and enjoy by foot. If you walk the other direction, 5 minutes from our home, you find meadows and water atracting many birds like geese, birds of pray and storks. Zutphen itself is a / beautiful medieval town with about 40,000 inhabitants, so not big and not too small...Just perfect and so pretty! The center has bendy small cobbled streets, wonderful bars and restaurants, all kinds of specialty stores, organic supermarkets (3 !), beautiful restored historic buildings, a cinema, theatre...etc etc. Too many nice things to mention. We really love Zutphen and the rural green area around it, the way of life here is relaxed, with enough to do if you want to. Of course you can use our bicycles to explore nearby villages. A very nice route along the river and including a short ferry ride takes you to the tiniest city in The Netherlands, the old and beautiful village of Bronckhorst. Did I already mention that many people from Amsterdam and other big cities in the crowded Western part of Holland come and live here because of the special atmosphere and beautiful centre and surroundings? What can you do and see: Amsterdam (75 minutes), Rotterdam, Utrecht (1 hour) and even Germany (30 minutes) are an easy drive away. But we have a train station if you prefer to take the train. Furthermore you can do many other things like visiting the world famous Kroller Moller museum with paintings of Van Gogh and other well known artists, Theme Parcs (for kids/teens), the National Parc De Veluwe (with the famous free white bicyclyes), take a boat tour on the river IJssel, cycling in the area (you can use our bicycles), walking on the dike or along the river close to our home... visit a zoo, the beach, Giethoorn with its canals.... Well, there is much to see and do from here!
