This location in Amsterdam South is at the north end of the Rivierenbuurt (Rivers Neighborhood), right next to the Pijp with its lively shops, restaurants and markets. It is a very quiet neighborhood yet conveniently close to the RAI convention centre and station, the Zuidas business district and the Amstel station, making it ideally situated for business travelers. Trams going in different directions are right around the corner. The Rivierenbuurt is one of the favorite living areas for Amsterdam residents, and you will feel like a local staying here. You’re only ten minutes away from attractions like the Rijksmuseum, and the Van Gogh museum and there are more restaurants within walking distance than you’re likely to be able to try during your stay. Right across the canal are a number of great examples of the Amsterdam School of architecture. Only two blocks away is the Merwedeplein, where Anne Frank lived before she and her family had to go into hiding. Although you’re close enough to all the action, the apartment’s location is very quiet at night. If there is any noise at all, it is usually from some of Amsterdam’s famous green parakeets that live in the area or the ducks in the canal. Included in your rental is the use of our bicycles, the ideal form of transportation in Amsterdam. Although there are plenty of public transport options nearby, you will find that getting around by bike is quicker and a lot more fun. If you truly want the local experience, you need a bicycle…

Getting around

There are two tram stops around the corner: tram 4 for quick and easy transportation towards the city center (10 minutes) and RAI station, and tram 12 towards Amstel station (and Sloterdijk station in the north-west part of the city). Although there is always ample parking space in front of the apartment, parking is expensive in Amsterdam. You will pay 4,50 euro / hour from 9 AM until midnight, 6 days per week. The easiest way to get to the apartment from Schiphol Airport is to take a taxi, which will cost you around 45 euros. A Uber is around 25-30 euros. If you prefer to take public transportation, take the train to the RAI station and take the number 4 tram from there. Exit at the Waalstraat. From there, it's a 4-5 minute walk to the apartment.

Member description
We're a couple from Amsterdam who love to travel. We're both working freelance, as network engineer & online marketer, which allows us to travel for a few months at a time every other year or so. Our dream is to start a business that will allow us to work from anywhere so we can travel even more. We count ourselves lucky to have a great place to come home to: we love our apartment, which we bought 5 years ago, we love Amsterdam, and we think the Netherlands is a pretty great country to live in. Now if only we could fix the Dutch weather...
