General overview

My house is in the Carrollton-Uptown neighborhood of New Orleans.

The space

The house is 100 years old, with new heating and air conditioning and refinished hardwood floors. Shotgun houses, with each room opening into the next room, are common in New Orleans. They can either be single shotguns (for one family) or double shotguns (for two families). I own both sides of the double shotgun, living on one side and renting the other side. My side has a single bedroom with a double bed and one bathroom and is best suited for couples. I do however have two sofas that can be used as single beds.

Neighbourhood

I’m only a few blocks away from the restaurants of Oak Street and the famous music venue the Maple Leaf Bar.

Getting around

My house is 3 blocks from the St. Charles Street car line. You catch the streetcar on Carrollton Boulevard and it takes you past Tulane and Loyola Universities, and the Garden District, the Central Business District (CBD) before terminating at Canal Street where you’re a block away from the French Quarter.
