Neighbourhood

Our neighborhood could be considered a suburb of Hamburg. We are in the west, a few kilometers north of the Elbe River. Because the park next to our house is also a preserved natural area, it is very quiet. There are many "beaches" along the Elbe, and a gem is the Botanical Gardens, which is just south of our house.

Getting around

A large shopping center (with supermarkets, a pharmacy and clothing stores) is neither seen nor heard from our house, yet is within a five-minute walk through the park. There are quite a few bus lines within a few minutes' walk, and the train (S-Bahn), is a 15-minute walk through the park. The center of Hamburg is about 20 minutes away via S-Bahn.

Travelling group
Member description
We are an American-German family that travels almost only during the school holidays (March, July and October). Our ages span 50 to five, so our travel goals are as broad as our interests and needs. We look forward to cultural exchange and outdoor adventure, and are not limited in terms of destination. In the U.S., we would be especially excited about a stay in Seattle and northern or southern California.
