We have a clean, spacious, and comfortable home in a perfect little mountain town. There are trails, mountains, and rivers all around. You can day trip to Crater Lake, Mount Shasta, Mount Hood, and Mout McLoughlin. Or you can stay in town and pop into the shops downtown. There are book shops to get lost in, two chocolatiers, a store that curates the loveliest "fancy goods and fine home furnishings, " coffee shops, aromatic juice bars, incredible restaurants, and two full-time professional theatre companies. There's also a tea garden with soaking tubs and a full-service spa. I've lived here since January and I am still just amazed by how much this tiny little town manages to pack in!
The space
We have three bedrooms and a sleeper sofa in the living room if you have a larger party. Two of the bedrooms have queen sized beds with new, high-quality mattresses and excellent linens. All three bedrooms have ample closet space, so you're welcome to fully unpack and make yourself at home. We can make drawer space available as well depending on the length of your stay.
There is a quiet work area off the garage that is heated, but not cooled. It has wifi, a printer, and a computer that we can make available if needed.
Throughout our hose are Google Home devices. They are able to control some of the lights, and obviously the other standard functions of the devices. You're also welcome to turn off the mics/unplug these if you have concerns.
Guest access
We want to emphasize the *home* in home exchange. Our home is not a vacation rental and it isn't a magazine set. It's clean, well-loved, and much lived in. Use everything! Let your kids play with the toys, feel free to use any equipment you can, use soaps/toiletries/paper products as you would at home.
There is a step up into the home from any of the entrances. It may not be very easy to access via wheelchair, but I'd be happy to take measurements and shift furniture if we can help with accessibility.
Notes
We are unable to host pets, but we are happy to care for yours in your home. Our house is actually very suitable for those with allergies. Our flooring, furnishing, and linens are all new and have not had any pets around them.
A note about cleaning:
Long visits or those with a good deal of advanced notice: I'll give the place a proper scrub (which I'll say, I'm damn good at). I do not require you to hire professional cleaners for your house or mine. For my house, I'd ask that you take out any trash, load and run the dishwasher, and make sure any food that may spoil is put away.
For short visits or those arranged on short notice: I propose a deal!
Let's offer each other a reasonably tidy place to sleep, eat, and bathe and we'll all leave our white gloves at home :) Don't let our less-than sparkling houses stop us from having a little local adventure.
I'll continue working on gathering pictures of the interior living spaces. Feel free to reach out if you'd like to see them before I've had a chance to upload them here.

Neighbourhood
Nestled in the Rogue River Valley, Ashland is a picturesque mountain town with a thriving arts and culture scene. Between the scenic outdoor offerings and the local theater scene, there's something for everyone in Ashland. Because Ashland is a very small community, our home is within walking distance or a ten-minute drive of everything inside the city of Ashland.
In the winter you can enjoy alpine skiing down the challenging slopes at Mt.Ashland. If that sounds intimidating or you're traveling with little ones, sledding at the nearby Grouse Gap Sno Park may be more your speed. In summer months, take a walk around scenic Lithia Park or satisfy your need for adventure with a rafting trip on the wild and scenic Rogue River. Ashland is a wonderland for lovers of the outdoors any time of the year.
If you've seen all you can of the breath-taking natural beauty surrounding Ashland, you can enjoy its artistic and cultural offerings. Ashland is home to the Oregon Shakespeare festival. This festival has an eighty-three -year history of performing the works of William Shakespeare. See a show for free Mondays on the green. If you prefer more modern fare, you can attend dinner and a show at the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. The 2019 season includes musicals like Sweeney Todd and Beehive. The Cabaret has shows at dinner and brunch, so you can have braised feather blade of beef or blueberry waffles with cranberry syrup, whipped cream and toasted almonds. Ashland is a small town with a big theater scene.
Whether you're looking for a thrilling adventure or a relaxing escape into another world, Ashland has something for you.
Getting around
There are bus transit stops at the ends of our street. We are within a mile or two of most of the city attractions. To reach things outside of Ashland you'll need a car. You can either rent one locally, or we may be able to make ours available as part of the trade.

We have recently moved and I am in the process of updating our listing. We have family staying with us for a bit, so will not be able to host for 2021.
"Our travel can be flexible but must be planned well in advance. We have travel plans already this year and would be happy to host people in our home during those dates and trade at different times if that works for everyone involved."
People Like Us is the world's most trusted home exchange community. We believe in sharing, trust, generosity, respect, communication, equality, cooperation, honesty, hospitality, friendship, flexibility and adventure. We take pride in our homes and we care about the environment in which we live: our village, city, country and our planet. We care about the ethos of home exchange and we do it because we love the experience and the friendships that it generates.
This is the front of our lovely little house. It has a fenced in front yard with soft grass perfect for playing. There is on-street parking, a driveway, and a garage with lots of gear. You can experiment with watercolor paints, use the tubes for snow or water, borrow fishing equipment and hit the lake, or snowboard/ski. There is a park with a playground a short walk away. Three grocery stores, two coffee shops, several restaurants, and a few great thrift stores within a 1.5-mile walk.
Downtown shopping, dining, and people-watching is a five-minute drive, or a quick bus ride (stops on both ends of the street).
Our back yard comes stocked with tiny balance bikes, scooters, outdoor toys, a grill and more! Enjoy a drink and a meal on the covered porch while the kids play in the backyard. I like to stay nice and dry on the porch while the kids play in the Oregon rain.
Our home is your home!
The kitchen is well-stocked with anything you would need! We have an InstantPot, a stand mixer, and several coffee-making devices.
Our washer and dryer is through the kitchen. Help yourself to anything you need! Spices, laundry detergent, or anything that may be in the fridge.
This is our beautiful little mountain town! It looks just like a picture book! There's a charming downtown, mountain trails, rivers, and many exciting opportunities for exploration.
Lithia Park is right in downtown Ashland! On the left side of the bridge is an amazing playground (the climbing structure is my kids' favorite in town), there are miles of trails and several duckponds.
The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is a huge attraction in Ashland. Every night throughout the Spring and Summer there are free Shakespeare shows on the town green. The shows are not to be missed!
