We are surrounded by a network of footpaths which are perfect for those who enjoy walking, cycling or horse-riding. Pheasants, deer, badgers and buzzards are all common sights as you wander down the lanes. Things to do nearby: Carp fishing Horse riding Kart racing (at the Mansell race-track associated with Formula One Champion Nigel Mansell). Skydiving Parachute jumping and Paragliding Clay-pigeon shooting (associated with Ed Ling who won a bronze medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics) Golf Visit the farmers’ market in Taunton, the Cathedral in Exeter, the Roman Baths in Bath or the huge motor museum at Yeovil. Browse the many antique shops in Honiton or shop till you drop in London (which is just over 2 hours away by train from Taunton). As well as all that, there are numerous National Trust properties to visit in the vicinity. It’s worth noting that the National Trust operates a reciprocal arrangement with heritage organisations in other countries (such as Canada, Italy, Jersey and Malta, etc) which allows members of heritage sites in those countries to visit UK National Trust sites for free. After a busy day shopping or sight-seeing, drop in to one of the many excellent pubs nearby where you can enjoy a delicious meal. We’re also less than an hour’s drive from many coastal towns such as Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Branscombe; all of which are perfect for fossil-hunting as they form part of the Jurassic Coast. So, whatever you like to do, our home is the perfect base for you! For more information see: https://www.visitengland.com/destinations/south-west-england
The house is very rural and a car is a necessity, but we are less than 15 minutes from the M5 motorway and conveniently placed for exploring the South West. London is just over 2 hours away by train from Taunton and there are airports at Exeter (30 minutes) and Bristol (1 hour).
