The nearest community, River John, is 8 km where you can find a post office, library, booze store, gas station combined with convenience store & 'Chinese' restaurant, a new coffee shop and some other seasonal businesses, e.g. farmers market. Next one over is Tatamagouche which is a 15-20 minute drive where you can find everything from hospital to grocery store, brewery, butcher, motel, several restaurants. Truro is 40 minutes away and they have what one would need for larger items.
We are 8 km from the coast. Nearest beach is a 10 minute drive, some 20 minute drive. Lots of choices for outdoor recreation activities, some where you don't have to leave the property, e.g. cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, bicycling (we have lots), running. Transcanada trail is a few kms away where you can get to Tatamagouche via trail.Tatamagouche is a tourist hub so lots to see and do in the region.

Halifax airport is 1.25 hours drive, Halifax city 1.75 hours drive.
Getting around
Require a vehicle, rental or one's own. There is no public transit. We have bicycles that can be used.
