We live in a penthouse in one of the most lively quarters of Barcelona - la Barceloneta. The most outstanding of our flat is the fantastic view over the sea and beach of Barcelona.
The flat is small 55m2, but it offers everything we need, like 3 bedrooms and a living room with an open kitchen, 2 terraces and a bathroom. The 3 bedrooms have bed-sofas each for 2 adults to sleep. The flat is comfortable for 4 persons, but up to 6 people can sleep.
We have a second home in the Ebro-Delta (180 km south of Barcelona).
We can offer both houses for exchange if you wish.
You have to be somehow sportive to reach the flat, because it is a 6th floor without elevator - but the light and the view compensate the physical effort!

Living in "la Barceloneta" means to hear, see, smell and feel the beach, nabours, Vespas, children, wind,....it is like a little village in the middle of a big town. The atmosphere changes depending on the time of the year. In summer the beach is full of people from all over the world, bands are playing, the restaurants and bars are open and it seems that the city never sleeps. Autumn and winter are more calm, normal life is going on, on Sundays people from other parts of Barcelona come to have lunch, the sea invites for long walks along the beach.
Ultimately the quarter is changing and becoming more "hip", but it still conserves traditional structures, e.g. the market of Barceloneta offers all types of seafood, fruits and the lively atmosphere of southern lifestyle, people know each other and talk on the streets, little shops were you can buy all you need, children playing on the streets.
Barceloneta belongs to the old centre of Barcelona, the old port, the Gothic Quarter and Born are 10 min walk away from us.

We are a Catalan - German family of 4 members. My husband works as a teacher for mountain-scouts, I work in market research, our kids are a 17 year old girl and a 12 year old boy.
We are experienced home-exchangers and very convinced that this is an enriching way to spend our holidays. During the 6 years of doing home-exchange, we had the chance to spend time in very different places and meet inspiring people.Thank you!
