Historical facts: The clay from the Hollandse IJssel for baking the ice stones was transported in carts that were pulled by Shetland ponies. These ponies were called 'hitting'. The name Hitland is derived from these hitting.
Hitland-Noord or Klein Hitland consists mainly of forest, mainly poplars and also ash, alder and willow. There are two 'wheels' or 'far-away lakes' on the IJsseldijk. These are small pools of water, created during one of the early floods of the Dutch IJssel and where the water has remained behind the dike.

When we are home, usually during high season (July-Aug), we are dog sitters!
We have 2 rabbits ourselves, which need some care during an exchange or can be placed elsewhere.
We will take care of your home as we want you to take care of ours, with respect and cleanliness.
We are open to any destination where the sun is shining and/or the people are happy!
The USA is one of our favorite destinations and we have already made 5 beautiful (road) trips in the USA.
We prefer long-term exchanges in distant destinations to fully enjoy our exchange, but we are also up for weekend or week exchanges in Europe.
Other destinations on our "bucket list" are Costa Rica, Brazil, Asia, Poland, Croatia, Iceland, Vienna, Venice, but we are open to anything!
You are also very welcome when we are at home. (2 pers.)
We can be your guide during your stay or respect your wishes to give you as much privacy as possible.(everything is shared except your bedroom)
You can stay at any time and duration if it matches our plans.
