Dear PLU friends,
I know this virus is affecting many of you. I’ve spent many hours each day reading about the impact around the world and your comments about your personal experience. I know this is painful and no one is really sure about what to do.
Short-term travel is badly affected and no one really knows how they’ll be affected medium-term. I’ve seen some forced cancellations and I know there’ll be more.
I ran a survey in our Facebook group earlier this week to understand the level of confidence. We had over 600 responses.
The survey was encouraging about the positivity of our community. Most of us are adopting a “wait and see” approach (me too) and the rest are intending to push ahead with travel plans.
My own plans are up in the air. We hoped to spend a few months in Europe in the second half of the year to get closer to our members. I don’t know if that will be possible now.
You know that I’ve been working on subscription fees for the last 6-7 weeks. This is essential for our future. It will change People Like Us from a hobby to something that can sustain itself for the next 20 years and beyond.
Our community is the best in the world. We need to be of sufficient size so that you can always find the exchange you want, so that we can truly be the first choice for your exchanges. That’s my dream. I want to spend the rest of my working life providing the best possible platform that I can for our community.
I’m nearly finished with this release, but now does not seem the right time.
With most people waiting and seeing, I’m going to do the same.
When I finish, I’ll release the software but delay the fee. We’ll work out together when the time is right.
Hopefully this will go away soon, and hopefully we can all go back to our plans later in the year and go on with our lives next year.
In the meantime, please reach out to me directly if you need help with a cancellation. You can contact me via the website help system https://peoplelikeus.world/messages/user/1 or by email email@example.com.
Stay safe, Drew
