Gesamtübersicht

Millet Lake is about 15 minutes inland from the lovely seaside village of Chester, Nova Scotia. Our peaceful, well equipped cottage is at the end of a well maintained private road, and provides a lovely haven surrounded by nature. We have kayaks and a rowboat and the water is clean and great for swimming. Huge pine trees give shade and whisper in the breeze. Several bird feeders provide constant entertainment.

Der Raum

Our cottage has cathedral ceilings and skylights in the living area. There is a woodstove and electric heat if you arrive on a cool day and an air conditioner for warmer days. A cellular internet hub will allow you to connect to the outside world and there are many English and French satellite TV stations. Our favourite place is the large screened porch for relaxing and dining, and there is a huge outside deck with seating and an umbrella table as well. There is a washing machine and a dishwasher for your convenience. You now have the option of using the lovely hot outdoor shower.

Gastzugang

Only one step up to the ground floor and it has the kitchen, dining and main living areas, toilet, shower and combined washer/dryer. Also one bedroom with a queen sized bed and a smaller one with a double bed. Upstairs in the loft (with a gate) is a dorm with two nice private sleeping areas and a table for games and some toys. The lake below can be viewed from the screen porch and deck.

Anmerkungen

While paddling around the lake or sitting on the shore you could see loons, kingfisher, bald eagles, beaver or mink. A variety of birds and squirrels come to the feeders. We have lots of board and card games, puzzles, books, floatation devices and music. A cellular internet hub is available to connect your device or with the iPad provided at the cottage, and a gps and Nova Scotia road atlas for use on your day trips.

Nachbarschaft

Chester is 15 minutes away with two big grocery stores, a liquor store, pubs and restaurants. There is a salt water lido pool. The town of Mahone Bay is less than 30 minutes with great shopping and dining. It is a great place for local crafts and a “must visit” for those interested in the traditional Nova Scotia crafts of rug hooking and fibre arts. Lunenburg, a World Heritage Site, can’t be missed for its fishing heritage, museums and Thursday market. The highest tides in the world on the Bay of Fundy, can be reached within an hour, along with Grande Pre and the beautiful Annapolis Valley.

Mitgliederbeschreibung
John and I are in our early sixties and happily retired from careers in engineering and law enforcement. John’s passion is restoring little British sports cars and JoAnne hooks traditional rugs and does the gardening. We really aren’t city people, and love driving the countryside and visiting towns and villages. We have participated in 14 wonderful exchanges in 9 countries and greatly enjoy our new international friendships. We occasionally travel with two good friends who are retired teachers, or our adult children, but usually it’s just the two of us.
